My son was driving my Chevrolet s-10 pickup truck on interstate highway 75 going south around exit for 9 mile road. He met with an accident with the vehicle in front of it a Jeep cherokee. The truck was towed by michigan state police. My insurance company inspected the vehicle and totaled it. The front end of the truck was very badly damaged. My complaint is that both the airbags of the truck did not engage. According to the police officer and my insurance inspector said the airbags should have engaged. I called gm and filed a complaint on 07-14-2003. Complaint number 1-118887130. Was called by mike dimare of the gm customer complaints center. He requested me to fax the repair estimate and the photos to him which was done on 07-17-2003. Just wanted to let your offices know that this incidence has scared my 16 year son so much that he does not want to get in a gm vehicle at all.
Vehicle was involved in a collision while driving at 35 mph. Vehicle was hit on the front and the passenger sides. Upon impact, none of the air bags deployed, and driver's side seat belt failed to retract. As a result, consumer hit the steering wheel and sustained a concussion. Vehicle sustained extensive damage. Manufacturer's investigator after inspecting the air bags indicated the reason that they didn't deploy was because they weren't hit right.

My son went over a bridge and the brakes made a loud noise, engaged and caused him to fishtail and run his front end into the bridge. He had a witness behind him that saw the whole thing and said it was very scary and a good thing there was no oncoming traffic. It did $2300 worth of damage and his airbags did not employ.

According to owners manual airbags are supposed to be deployed at a threshold of 9-18 mph. Thy did not. Contacted gm dealership and they do not want to do anything with this problem. I need your help. My hand is in a cast and according to my doctor may need an operation to mend the torn ligaments in my hand. I hit the steering wheel with my chest. Yet the gm manufacturer will not do anything other than explain to me how the air bags work. A vehicle cross my path not yielding to traffic and crossed my front about 15 feet away. When attempting to back the truck up, the backs of the seats are too high and it obstructs my view. One night while trying to back my truck up in my yard, my view was too obstructed and I hit a tree. The tailgate of my truck was down, and was damaged. It is un-repairable. I was backing up at about 5 mph, so the airbags didn't open. This has been a problem from the beginning. I haven't contacted the manufacturer, but if you advise me to do so, I will. The anti-lock brakes just went made a grinding noise and I had to almost push them to the floor to stop. . . I was going 35-40 mph and someone in front of me slammed on their brakes. Since then, the brakes scrub and make a grinding noise if I don't stop gradually. The brake pads were looked at and are okay. I'm not a mechanic, but if it's not the pads, then what is it??? noone was injured in either incident, but I'd like to know if there have been any other complaints about the seats. I'm almost 6 feet tall and can't see over them, and barely see around them. That's dangerous!. . . As is the braking system.

Then, vehicle was back on the road, and went into a concrete cover. Hit it head-on, and driver's airbag didn't deploy. Consumer had sustained head injuries.
Consumer was driving on the highway going 50mph, another vechicle made a u turn in the middle of the street, consumer thought that vehicle was going to turn in the opposite of his vehicle, an dhe veered over to the shoulder on wet pavement to slow down. Then, veered onto the dry pavement, and the anti-lock system didn't kick in. Also the airbag didn't deploy.
While crossing an intersection applied the brakes on a bumpy road and brake pedal went to the floor. Consumer hit another vehicle, and airbag didn't deploy. Called the dealer, and they said that this was normal.
No deployment of air bag when consumer hit a horse. Consumer experienced alot of pain and with bruising. Nlm.
