Anti-lock Brakes Fail problems of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado

1 Anti-lock Brakes Fail problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2007

The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving approximately 55 mph under normal driving conditions, the abs warning light illuminated and the antilock system stopped operating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the pump motor circuit shorted. The vehicle has not been repaired and the light still illuminates. The antilock brakes fail to operate and the brakes function like normal brakes without abs. The engine size was unavailable. The current and failure mileages were 88,791. Updated 06/14/07.

2 Anti-lock Brakes Fail problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2004

Consumer complained about an abs brake system problem. When applying the brakes they will chatter and vibrate, and will not stop the vehicle. Consumer contacted the manufacturer, who suggested that consumer take the vehicle to the dealer to have it inspected. Consumer had it inspected by an independent mechanic, but the cause of the problem had not yet been identified. Nearly rear ended an auto at a stop light and ran completely through 2 stop signs. Anti-lock brake failure.

3 Anti-lock Brakes Fail problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2004

While driving down hill, the anti lock brakes failed and the vehicle began to slide. The driver could not get the vehicle to stop and it rolled down and over a hill. The vehicle was totaled. This vehicle was involved in a brake recall for this year, make, and model. Nhtsa recall campaign 00v345000; brake line chaffing.

4 Anti-lock Brakes Fail problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2002

The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for routine service when the anti-lock braking system failed to activate. The failure caused the vehicle to crash into a concrete wall. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number: 00v055000: service brakes, hydraulic:antilock and was taken to the dealer but the contact was advised by the dealer that the vehicle did not need the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 130,000.
