2 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

Was driving when a vehicle pulled out in front of me. I applied the brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor. The vehicle slowed however did not stop. After this the brake pedal did not feel right. Upon inspecting the brakes myself I determined that a brake line failed. I took the vehicle to a local mechanic where he proceeded to tell me that this is an on going issue with these trucks and that all of the brake lines should be replaced. The lines are steel and rust. The bill would be approx. $1,000. 00 to repair!!! it's a nice truck however I may not purchase another gm vehicle because of this issue and gm not standing behind it and recalling these to have the lines replaced with stainless.

5 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2015

When stopping quickly to avoid a deer, the brake line leading to the rear wheels failed. Luckily I did not hit the deer but if it was pedestrian or another vehicle later in the trip there would have been fatality. There are numerous reports of these rusty brake lines failing. My truck 8 years old with <72,000 miles. I live in the very bottom of the "snow belt". My mechanic says he sees multiples of these every month. He has a note attached to the lift for directions on connections because he does it so often. I lost all brake fluid to the ground and had no brakes! I had a 12,000 # trailer behind me. Thankfully this trailer has great brakes of its own or I would have never stopped (was on a downhill).

8 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2014

My truck is experiencing a mushy brake pedal issue. When I first apply the brakes the vehicles responds normally. As I continue consistent pressure the pedal loses resistance and begins to fade. At slow speeds on left hand turns the anti-lock brakes attempt to engage. You hear a noise associated with this but do not feel any vibrations in the pedal. I have inspected the brake lines and found no obvious failures. I have bled the brakes. The fluid is at normal levels. The problem persists.

2007 chevy Silverado brake lines rusted out. Luckily I wasn't driving. Noticed while car was parked. Oil all over the ground. Chevy charged me 480 for new brake lines. Ridiculous. I have had cars 20 years old and lines never rusted. Dealer admitted they aren't stainless steel from factory. People can die from this if they are driving, lines leak, they have no brakes.

16 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2012

While traveling at about 25 mph a light application of the brake was followed by the brake pedal going completely to the floor. An investigation revealed a ruptured brake line in the area of the brake control valve. After being towed to the dealer I was advised that all the brake lines were severely corroded and needed to be replaced. I bought the truck new and was very concerned to find that my brake lines had failed with only 82,800 miles on the truck and only 6 years old. Brake lines should last the life of the vehicle. This was a serious life threatening failure.

17 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2012

Driving at 30 miles an hour brakes failed due to rusted rear brake line. Chevrolet dealer (palm Chevrolet of punta gorda florida) said this was normal wear & tear and that all the brake lines needed replaced due to rust. They charged $343. For just 1 brake line. They would not honor a 10 year 100,000 mile warrenty that I purchased with the vehicle for $1,200. Truck is only 5 years old with 39700 miles on it.
