When going at slow speed 10mph or less. The front anti lock breaks kick in and you feel as if it will not stop. This happens all the time. There is a safety bulletin out about this. When I asked chevy what they would do about it I was told nothing. I payed to have it fixed. This was an on going issue not a one time deal.
Tl - the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact received rear brake recall number 14459 from the manufacturer. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer; however, they failed to properly install the cable onto the rear brakes and when the brake pedal was engaged the vehicle failed to stop while driving approximately 65 mph. The contact was only able to stop the vehicle by applying excessive and continuous force to the brake pedal. The dealer was notified about the cable; however, they have not responded to the contacts request. After the recall repair was performed the front brake warning clip made a grinding and squealing sound. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,184. Rk.
Noitced that my brakes was getting a little spongy earlier that day. Went to a fast food restaurant, started back out of parking lot when the brakes went to the floor, truck did not stop, thank goodness parking lot was empty, had to use parking brake to stop, looked under truck brake fluid under truck, line was pitted and rusted, 1800 dollars later brakes are still spongy.
Doors continuously locking/unlocking, all dash lights continuously turning on/off, clock reset itself to 12:00, engine cutting in/out which also resulted in the loss of power steering and power brakes, all of which occurred while at freeway speed. I purchased the vehicle approximately a year and a half ago from a Chevrolet dealer in sacramento, CA. Since I've owned the vehicle there have been multiple occurrences of the clock resetting itself to 12:00, complete power loss when attempting to start the vehicle.
A few days before the incident my left front brakes were making a slight squealing sound when going straight. In a turn or when the brake was applied it would go away. Very minor. Then when traveling on the interstate at 55 mph I got a severe shutter in the steering wheel and the left wheel was shaking like crazy. I hit the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. After I downshifted I got it stopped on a hill. Had it towed home. The left wheel bearing had melted!! the wheel was literally hanging on as the driveshart u joint came apart. The front half of the driveshaft was bent and the brakes were shot. Turns out the (sealed) hub was rusted so bad it froze up. Then it fell apart on the road. Luckily I got it stopped with wrecking. Chevy wanted over $2200 to fix it. I did it myself for $330 from napa after watching youtube on how to do it. It was easy as pie!.
The abs comes on at speeds of 7mph and 3 mph on my 2007 chevy Silverado. I live in pennsylvania which is considered the snow belt in the north east, I had a 2000 Silverado and there was a recall on the abs brake system and gm says there is no recall on my trucks abs and the problem is the same as the 2000 which was a recall in 2005.
On my 2007 Silverado I am constantly having to take it in to get serviced for traction control and service stabilitrak. My active fuel management lifters are also not functioning properly. This happens when I am making turns. The vehicle will lose control and it feels very dangerous. My brakes are constantly being replaced and I feel like there is some major issues when the vehicle was built.
My 2007 Silverado has the same brake problem that was a recall on older model Silverado's. The NHTSA campaign number for the previous recall was 05v379000. It appears the canadian transportation board ordered a recall for the 2007 models but the NHTSA has not. Is this something being looked into?.
Started hearing noises from the brakes, took to shop, and was told it was not under warranty even though there are only 30,000 miles on it. They had to turn the rotors. Also tires are falling apart. Another issues is with the 4 wheel drive it doesn't engage properly.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving 25 mph downhill, the steering column shook violently when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the front rotors failed. The contact had the rotors resurfaced. A few months later, while driving downhill at an unknown speed, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the rotors needed to be turned. The vehicle was repaired at that time. The contact called the manufacturer and was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The failure mileage was 12,907 and current mileage is 29,000. Updated 04/24/09.
I have had problems with the abs system on my 2007 Chevrolet Silverado classic, since about three months after I purchased it. I purchased this vehicle new. The first occurrence caused an accident, but no injuries. I reported the problem to the dealer, they checked the "computer" and said "the computer does not have any codes, so nothing can be wrong. " the brakes have locked-up, numerous times since the first accident. This has happened about 25-30 times in the last 3 years. It is an intermittent problem, never occurring in the same conditions. I contacted general motors and they sent a regional supervisor in to look at the reports. He gave the same answer and basically said if the computer doesn't show a problem then their cant be a problem, and they couldn't afford to begin replacing parts that could cause the problem. This is a safety concern and should be addressed. It has happened as recently as 1 week ago.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. Immediately following brake application at 55 mph, he heard a squealing sound. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the front rotors were replaced. After the repair the failure resurfaced. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer multiple times, and the rear brakes were cleaned and the rotors were replaced. Upon further inspection he noticed that the front brakes drag. None of the repairs have remedied the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000. The current mileage was 35,241.
