I was going north when a vehicle suddenly stopped in front of me. I braked as quickly as possible, the 2014 chevy Silverado that I was driving only slowly came to a stop. Unfortunately, I rearended another vehicle. Thankfully I had not gotten up to the speed limit (30mph) and was only going 20mph. My truck would not brake quickly. No screeching tires, no black marks on the road. The stop was so slow that I had time to turn the steering wheel and only damage part of my front end. The grill, bumper, and hood were smashed in. No airbags came out of the truck, and my onstar service sensor did not go off.

I had the brake still depressed & put the truck into park.
My airbag sensor light comes on and then goes off. I heard that gm had a recall on this. Does this also affect the Silverados?.

Turned key to on position started truck and air bag warning would not go off. Front sensor was cracked. Replaced it on my own!!!!!!!.
My air bag sensor malfunctioned. This is a part that should be guaranteed by general motors. Instead I paid over $500 dollars to have it repaired at a dealership. 64k miles / 8 years and the air bag sensor needs to be replaced? I searched online and noticed many others are having this problem. Gm got a government bailout and should be required to pay for this repair.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the air bag sensor light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic that determined a sensor inside the front bumper was the cause of the defect. The contact also reported that the driver's side rear brake line was rusted and ruptured, which caused the rear brakes to become inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the problem. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 72,000.
Upon starting truck in morning, "service air bag" message came on. Took to dealer who said the l front impact sensor failed and needs to be replaced $400+. Cost seems excessive and the safety system failure, if that is what it really is, should not be my responsibility.
Railroad hyrail vehicle equipped, after market, with hyrail wheel assemblies which allow the vehicle to operate on railroad tracks. Once hyrail (flanged) wheels are retracted, the vehicle is operated over the highways and public roads like any other vehicle. On 7/23/2010, at 20th st. And us 34 in warren county, IL. , railroad employee was operating a hyrail-equipped vehicle on public roadway when it was struck from behind at an unknown speed while stopped in traffic to make a left hand turn. Striking vehicle was towing a trailer and both vehicles left the roadway and struck a fence. Airbags in the hyrail-equipped vehicle did not deploy. A police report was made. Concern is that the installation of hyrail wheel assemblies might be impacting the airbag sensor. The hyrail wheel assemblies extend approx. One foot of steel framework ahead of the front and rear bumpers. The placement of these assemblies might inadvertently be affecting airbag deployment in crashes on the railroad track and on public roads.
I was driving my 2007 Chevrolet Silverado on a highway at approximately 65 mph during a light rain shower when there was a loud bang sound similar to a shot gun blast and the seatbelt pre-tensioners pulled myself and my passenger hard back into the seats. The hazard lights began flashing immediately and the airbag sensor light came on. Contacted onstar to run a diagnostic and they showed there was a collision detected which fired the seat belt pre-tensioners. There was no collision, not even a bump in the road that caused this. This was a very startling event that easily could have caused a panic reaction and an accident. There was a smell of spent gunpowder in the cabin of the vehicle after this occurred. We unlatched our seat belts to relieve the pressure against our bodies and noticed they would not retract or pull back out. They are now useless. The injury was a bruise to my left collar bone where the seatbelt retracted. The vehicle is now not safe to drive since the seat belts don't work and for fear of the airbags deploying.

I recently purchased a used 2004 chev. Silverado pick-up in 7-2005 from a car dealer in our area. Within a short time frame from the purchase the air bag light came on for no apparent reason. I took the truck to the dealer where I purchased it and they advised that it would cost approx. $550. 00 to replace an sdm module. I have spoken to several mechanics since and they advised that they have seen this same problem with the chev. Silverado pick-ups driver air bag. I believe that this is a safety issue that should be looked into. I believe that they have a defective coil spring in the air bag system which will not allow the steering wheel airbag to operate. Please check and advise. Thanks.

While driving the air bag light came on , and the computer read out, saying servicing air bag. The consumer took vehicle to the dealer, they placed it on the computer and stated it showed no defects, and warranty has expired.
Consumer purchased this vehicle because of the air bag feature. Currently, every time there is an occupant in the passenger seat the air bag light comes on regardless of the weight. The dealer maintains that is the way the feature is to work.
The air bag light was on after being serviced on three occasions. The air coil, air bag module and module diag sensor sensor were replaced.
The abs light illuminated. It was later determined that the abs module failed.

While starting up the vehicle srs light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. , and the mechanic determined that the control module needed to be replaced, and replaced it.
