The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that upon a vehicle inspection performed by an independent mechanic, it was discovered that both the brake line and the fuel line had sustained severe corrosion. Upon further inspection of the vehicle, the contact stated that the brake line had blown out. The contact was informed that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and that both lines needed to be replaced. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 187,000.

After noticing a gas leak, I asked my father to drive my truck to the dealership for repair. When he put the truck into reverse he had no brakes and had to use the emergency brake before rolling into my mother's car behind him. Upon inspection by the dealership, all of my brake lines and gas lines were badly rusted and had to be replaced. Upon research I found this problem quite widespread and expensive, not to mention the critical safety issues involved. I do want to know that Chevrolet/gm is concerned about our safety and is addressing this problem.

The abs and parking brake lights come on at random. There is noise from the front tires when you make a turn, the brakes I would assume. The brake pad have been changed. The gas light flips back and forth from full to empty, have to use the mileage to know when to get gas. And the gas pedal sticks, not good in traffic.

2005 chevy Silverado z71. Canister evaporation vent solenoid defective, resulting in repeated check engine lights. I replaced this $175 and the garage owner sited numerous other vehicles owners having the same issues.
Gas gage reads empty when idle for prolong period of time. Looking at the information on the NHTSA web site I find that many people are experiencing this problem. Checked into the cost of repairs it is over $500. 00 for the part and another $500. 00 for the labor to correct this problem. This should be covered by gm since they know the problem exists. Instead they are profiting off the consumer with high replacement and labor charges. Would like to see an in depth investigation of this complaint.
On going problem with the fuel gauge in my Silverado since new which gives inaccurate readings and now has become a very serious safety issue. I ran out of gas and my vehicle suddenly stopped as I was going through a tunnel the other day at 50 mph with a transport truck behind me! gm says its a defective sensor.
Fuel gauge stops working or gives inaccurate readings. Truck runs out of gas because of these readings. Leaving the truck stranded in the road.
3 times while climbing a hill, the engine has suddenly, without warning, lost all power, then died leaving me coasting down the highway. Engine is very hard to restart, but will restart if it sits for a few minutes. If this were to occur in an area where I cannot get off the highway, or while passing someone, it could be catastrophic. This has always occured while climbing a hill. Was returned to gm dealer after the first occurance, they stated it showed a lean code, they had no idea what to do. A week later, it stalled twice on one trip. Was returned to gm dealer again, they put another ground wire on the computer, said they had been having computer problems in vehicles lately. I have been afraid to let family in it and have not driven it since the last trip to gm dealer.

Same as case # 10127210. Gas gauge will drop to empty during stopped idle at lights or idling in park. Causes low fuel light to come on. Once vehicle is shaken during forward motion gauge will bounce back to correct position. (web site refering is mycarstats. Com) have found another mass resident with same problem also.
The fuel sensor stops working. It looks as if we still have plenty of fuel when in fact the vehicle is out of gas. While we have caught it in time the fuel sensor has broken and been replaced twice in the last seven months and is broken again. Serious consequences could result if we were to run out of gas in heavy traffic on a freeway.
The driver side tailgate cable broke, and the passenger side tailgate cable was hanging by some threads. Also, passenger door will not unlock, and there was a delay in acceleration. The tailgate cable was replaced with the same type that failed. The fuel gauge was not working properly. The fuel sender/ pump unit and actuator had to be replaced.
Truck is hard to start in warmer weather. It will turn over several times before it will start or I press the accelerator to get sufficient gas to start the truck. Also. . . Since I bought this truck I have had difficulty in with the gas petal 'sticking' and it lunges before I back off the gas and accelerate normally. It's a pain and one day will get someone hurt. VIN number is 2gcec19toy1218813.
While driving accelerator pedal is hard to apply when passing or pulling from a stop, the pedal will stick. Consumer has to use his foot to release the accelerator pedal. The gas needle fluctuates from empty to full continually. Consumer very concerned that the fuel gauge problem could be a fire hazard.
2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The gas guage keeps going from full to empty. It does it all the time.
Didn't get rapaired yet. Chevy will replace pumps, but I have to pay for the fuel system to get flushed because of metal in the system that is from the deffective pump. Which they say is $1100 and I think is outrageous.

While driving at 30 mph, the engine failed without warning. The gas gauge did not work at times. The dealer stated a defective fuel module caused the engine to fail.
Fuel gauge not working properly causing truck to stop in the middle of a four lane road this gas gauge problem has occurred in my other vehicle a 1997 monte carlo and my daughters lumina,so this is not an isolated incident. A problem of this kind could be very dangerous on an expressway.
Fuel gauge works off and on mostly off. I purchased truck in spring of 2002 and problem started immediately after purchase , so I am guessing that the dealer knew of the problem just got lucky that I didn't notice till after the deal was done . Have talked to several people with Chevrolet trucks all years within 1999 through 2004 and all have had the same problem. And I have talked to several dealers and was told it would cost upwards of 600 hundred dollars to repair. Sounds to me as there is definitely a problem and it isn't the car owner's that are at fault. There should be a recall on this problem.
