1 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 07/29/2019

Just received a letter from general motors with a page that is to be inserted into my owners manual. The issue it purports to solve is that the manual states that if this truck has forward collision alert, it also has forward automatic braking & intelligent brake assist. That is incorrect & this alert is to correct that error. But, the manual insert provided is nonsense. It has no page number to tell us where to insert the new page; there are 2 sections relating to this in the manual. The insert also says it only applies to 1500 series trucks. Mine is a 2500 series. So why send this. Gm has messed this up and it seems to me you need to call them on it to provide correct inserts for the 2 manual areas to which it applies. That should include correct information and page numbers. Otherwise the material I received is irrelevant to correcting the original error. I am a retired government performance auditor, so serious mistakes in correcting problems concern me.

2 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 03/29/2016

When driving a message on my information center pops up which states that taking my eyes off the road can cause a accident, ect. This makes me take my eyes off the road to see it and again to delete it. So this is a hazzard. Gm said there is nothing in the owners manual about it , and engineering thinks that it happens when I touch a button on the insturment panel when driving. But it happens to appear when im driving on the highway and have not touched any control button. , this is a serious distraction. Since I cannot duplicate it because it happens at random, when it does occur again I will take a picture of it. The message will not cancel on its own and blockes everything on the message center until I manually shut it off.

3 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 07/19/2014

On approximately Jul 19, 2014, the hill descent mode failed on my 2014 Silverado 1500 as I was driving down a mountain in the state of washington. The truck took off when this failed and I had to manually use my brakes in order to avoid crashing into any vehicles ahead. I took the vehicle in to the dealer who, and I quote 'they couldn't duplicate the concern and there were no codes stored in the system'. Only four miles were put on the truck while it was in their shop. How can you possibly test this failure if you didn't drive it in the mountains? next major issue was the onstar antenna began to leak into the cab, soaking the headliner, the floor and leaking into the dash where all the electrical components are. Dealer 'didn't have the part to fix this' and it continues to leak to this day. And finally, having noticed all the posts about rust underneath this truck, I too, discovered that the 'wax' coating had deteriorated and major rust issues had developed. I have owned Chevrolet trucks for nearly 20 years and I have never, ever found them to be the piece of junk this vehicle is. The hill descent mode is a serious and potentially deadly problem. These issues have been reported to the ceo of gm in a detailed letter with pictures to prove everything that is wrong with this truck. Caution*****before you shell out fifty grand for this truck, read each and every post on this website in order to make an informed decision.

4 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 01/12/2014

Driving on the freeway at 70 mph and the kid in the back of the crewcab pickup opened the rear door. The truck locks the doors when it is put into drive. But when he pulled on the door latch it opened up. I thought the doors are not supposed to open while the vehicle is moving. When I tested this at home, with the truck running and in drive, any of the doors will open up on the 2nd pull on the latch. The 1st pull unlocks the door and on the 2nd pull it opens the door. I have had many other trucks and they never did this. Seems like a safety issue to me. Can youtell me if the NHTSA has any safety rules on this? I called the dealer and talked with the service advisor and he confirmed that other 2014 Silverados do this to, so he had no fix for it. There is a child lock out switch for the read doors, but that would have to be manually set every time you put it in drive and would not lock either of the front two doors. Please let me know if there is a safety rule for this. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

My rear passenger door does not lock/unlock. Huge safety hazard. The door can be opened while the vehicle is traveling 70 mph. This is also a security issue. I can lock the vehicle with the key fob only to learn that the rear door will not lock. If I lock it manually, then it will not open with the key fob. This is a huge inconvenience, I have to unlock it manually. The dealer stated that this is a very common problem. Internet research shows that this has happened to thousands of people. This should be a recall!!!.
