Recently I was involved in an accident that was a direct impact. At the time of this accident the seat belt did not lock nor did the air bags deploy. The speed from this accident was between 50-55 mph on the highway. At the rate of speed I was going before the accident and the fact that I had to slam on the breaks to begin slowing down one would have thought the seat belt would have locked but it did not and at the point of impact I was very surprised that the airbags did not deploy but yet the system indicated that it did and needed to be reset. However now that the vehicle is in process of being repaired I am being told that the entire airbag system has to be replaced along with the driver seat belt.

I was stopped at a red light and struck from behind by another smaller vehicle pushing me into a minivan in front of me. On initial impact, the drivers seat was dislodged from the mounting frame. When I hit the minivan in front of me, the airbags did not deploy and my shoulder seat restraint did not engage causing my eye to strike the steering wheel. I have nerve damage as a result of the seat belt not engaging and the airbags not deploying. The vehicle sustained enough damage, including frame damage, that it was considered a total loss. It was 6 weeks old at the time of the incident. I was the only person in the accident who required medical attention. I believe the seat mounting failed, the airbags failed to properly deploy and the shoulder restraint significantly failed. I have pictures indicating the seatbelt fully extended, but did not engage, and will no longer retract. State farm is holding the vehicle pending a possible investigation by NHTSA.
While traveling with the radio on, the radio volume went off. Other radio information on the video screen appeared normal. Onstar volume was also off. Also when seat belts were disconnected while driving there was no audible signal. After stopping and restarting the vehicle everything was normal.

On Tuesday March 18, 2014 I was driving a 2013 chevy Silverado and rear ended a chevy tahao at approximately 20 mph without hitting my brakes. Conditions at the time were clear and dry although very windy. I was the only passenger in my truck. I was wearing my seatbelt. I hit the steering wheel with my chest. The onstar system called to say they could see I was in an accident and help was on the way. I exchanged info with the other driver and returned to my vehicle. The seatbelt was in the extended position and would not extend further or retract. On the display panel it had an 'airbag deployed' icon and message 'service airbag'. My insurance company gave me a auto repair shop to go to for an estimate, however, the shop told me they would not touch the vehicle until a gm representative investigated the system first as they felt the seatbelt should have prevented me from hitting the steering wheel. I called gm and spoke with walter in customer service. He arranged to have a 'third party' investigator come and do a interrogation of the system and arranged for a loaner vehicle. Raytheon representative 'jeff" called me Sunday March 20 and stated he was to interrogate the system and would contact me from the airport when he got to town on Wednesday March 23. On Wednesday March 23 I called jeff to see if he was in town and he stated he was at the airport 'leaving' town, he had done his investigation and determined everything worked like it should. I asked him if I was supposed to hit the steering wheel and he stated he did not agree or disagree.
The service airbag message lighted on the dashboard followed by an explosion. Seat belts tightened and locked. The dealership verified complaint, found sdm internally shorted. Needed new sdm and both front pretensioners and control module. Total cost of repair was $1445. 99.

There were times, when the seat belt would un-latch while the consumer was driving. Updated 04/22/14.
Latch failed would not latch. If I was in an accident I could have injured . I would think the seat belts would last longer than 5 years.
Engine stalls occasionally while driving, and put me in a dangerous situation. Fortunately I live in a small town has little freeways. Also the driver side seatbelt is stuck and I can not pull it out.

Consumer 1999 Silverado arm rest does not lock into place. After the seat belt recall was performed, the consumer discovered the problem with the arm rest, which was not a problem previously.
Driver's side safety belt will not extend so it can be used. Will not come out of the reel. The other concern were the abs brakes. Had situations while in traffic the abs activated on their own. This removes control from the driver, and is startling when it happens. There is a vibration from the abs. Tried to corrrespond with gm, but feot concerns have fallen on deaf ears. No repair has been made as of yet. The seat belt began to fail on 1-1-03, and the abs system began to malfunction on 2-10-05.
There are 3 recalls on my vehical why have I not been notified.

I own a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado hd2500 4 door diesel truck. The passenger side seatbelt in the front seat locks and tightens to the point that you literally cannot move. You can be on smooth road, not touching the brakes and the belt will lock and the only way to release it is to unbuckle it and buckle it again. Then it will soon lock again. It is a constant process making the belt almost impossible to wear. I have had it replaced at my dealership 4 times with all of them the same. It is law that you wear your seatbelt but this one is not useable. I have complained to gm and my dealership but am told that there is nothing that can be done and to get use to it! all I want is a seatbelt that works properly and safely. Please help.
