I have a 2010 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck and after returning from lunch noticed the spare tire hanging loosely on the underside of the truck bed. After trying to use the jack handle to tighten it back up which failed I lowered the tire via the jack handle and proceeded to view the hoist. The hoist is held up by a single bolt to the undercarriage. I removed the bolt and found that the metal surrounding the bolt had several stress cracks and 2 new fractures. I removed the unit and have it currently. I called a dealer and asked if they had any issues with the hoist and they said they had not but a couple of people had lost their spare tires. I took the unit to the dealer and they said no bulletins were out on this issue and could not help me. I think gm has a safety issue with this part (25974843) as it was replaced in 2013 with 20870067. If this bracket fractures completely the entire 100 lb tire will drop down off the back of the truck and become a serious road hazard. I would be happy to send the unit to you for analysis.
Drivers side door caught on fire while the vehicle was parked and running. Burned wire and smoke evident.

A clunking noise could be heard under the consumer's 2004 Chevrolet Silverado while in motion . The vehicle had been taken to the dealer 3-4 times for repairs. The consumer was informed that the defect could not be repaired.
Dt: while driving between 40-60 mph vibration from the frame. Suspension vibration or frame beaming. It is as if there is a flat tire, the car wobbles. Very eerie feeling to be driving and this to happen. A new set of tires have been placed on front. Complained to gm,no recall but would be notified if there was. Taken to dealers who recognized this was the problem but did not do anything about.
Rear quarter panel window leaks.
While driving the quarter panel collapsed damaging the brake line, and the emergency brake line. Consumer had an air bag installed on the suspension. However that was damaged also. The tires delaminated. The tread separated from the sidewall of the tires. Firestone steeltex radio, r4f, lt245/75r16, 00-80-11 120/116r m/s, dot vn11-b1c.
On the 2002 Silverado chevy pu truck, there is a plastic cover over a bar under the dash board, near the gas pedal. It is possible that the tip of the sole of a driver's shoe can get snagged on that piece of plastic with the effect that the driver's foot is held down of the gas pedal. One driver experienced that.

Rear sliding window frame cracked allowing water to enter vehicle and flooding the entire passenger compartment. It has been leaking for some time and is not noticeable until the water starts seeping from under the carpet once the padding is soaked. With the heater on, all of the glass becomes fogged which will impair visibility unless you put the windows down. The padding and carpet has also caused a very bad mildew smell. Dealership refuses to repair and states gm will only cover less than 36,000 mi. Its most likely the crack occurred before 36k with so much water under the carpet but now at 57,000 its just noticed. Gm must be aware this is a manufacture defect, but like myself there hoping most consumers with this type of vehicle won't notice the problem until after the 36k mi .
