Abs system continuosly goes out.

Rusted rear tubing along driver side frame ruptured while approaching a red traffic signal at a busy intersection. Control of all 4 wheels was lost without warning. All steel tubing is extremely rusted.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not avaliable. The failure mileage was 117,000. Jft.
My wife drove the truck to winchester, va. And the brakes worked ok. When she was returning home she noticed the brake pedal was “soft” and the brakes had to be pumped to stop. Upon returning home I noticed the brake fluid reservoir was empty. I filled the reservoir and took the truck to a local garage in capon bridge, wv. I inspected the reservoir after I got to the garage and it was again empty. The mechanic replaced a length of tubing from beneath the left driver’s door to the engine compartment at a cost of $262. 00.
After stopping quickly the broke pedal went to the floor and no longer had any resistance. The braking power was greatly reduced and appeared that only the rear brakes were functioning.
I was turning a corner a short way from my house. My brake pedal suddenly went to the floor. I tried pumping the brakes and got almost no stopping power. Luckily, I was able to coast up into my yard. I looked under the truck and their was brake fluid all over the frame rail and the bundle of lines. One or more had rusted through. If I was in traffic, this would have been a very serious situation!.
I was driving east bound in the left lane. A car turned right into the right lane heading east bound. As I came through the intersection the car suddenly changed lanes into the left lane in front of my vehicle. The car that changed lanes in front of me was only going approximately 5-10 mph. With my vehicle traveling 45 mph I had to slam on my breaks and horn at the same time and the car switched back into the right lane. My breaks worked for about a second before the petal went to the floor. I tried the emergency break which did not work either. I was able to slow down and pull into a parking lot without causing a crash. The break line busted right under the drivers door behind the front tire. The break lines were very rusted upon inspection.
The break line went out and just about caused us to wreck. It was fine one minute then the breaks went all the way to the floor. Pioneer chevy in abingdon va said the lines had rusted. That cost us over $1300. That was in April and now it's August and it's happened again with a different break line. Pioneer now said it's going to cost over $800 this time. I'm so furious we really dont have this kind of money to spend on fixing the truck which we really need. From what I've read and researched apperantly this is a common problem. Please fix this issue.
I was slowing down to drive around a sharp bend, when I pressed on my brake pedal and it dropped to the floor. I then down shifted, but could not stop. Before my truck plummeted down a wooded hill ( the hill being approx 50-60 yards long) I jumped from my truck, but got caught between my truck and a stationary vehicle. I was then crushed, as my truck proceeded to plummet down the hill. This all causing the stationary car to have scrapes, and a dent where my body was, and causing severe bruising, swelling and abrasions of my upper legs, hips, and buttock, and I was unable to walk for 3 days after the incident because of leg weakness, every time I would put weight on my right leg it would give out, and cause a severe shooting pain up my leg into my lower back, and was unable to work for a week.
While coming down a hill to a red light, I applied my brakes and the brake went to the floor. As it went to the floor I heard a noise, turned my wheel to advoid hitting the car infront of me, I ran over a speed limit sign, only to miss a building by appling the parking break. I was only going 25mph. A cop behind me heard the pop and stop to see if we (me, my fiance and child) were alright. When I talk to my mechanic, he said there has been alot of reports of the break lines failing in the silverado. That most of his other clients that have had this problem call a chevy dealer and they either paid for the repairs or given up to $500 to the repairs. I call jba Chevrolet in glen burnie maryland, and they stated that they are unware of such a problem and refuse to look into or help in the repair. I have read of the concerns/reports of others and I am wondering why there is not a recall. Families are at risk. What actions can I and other drivers take? chevy should be held responsible.
I was leaving my barn, and as I was driving down the driveway I hit my brakes and my pedal dropped to the floor. I was only driving approx 5 mph so my truck slowly rolled to a stop, as I then put the truck in park, and called my friend who is also my mechanic.
Loss of hydraulic brakes, pedal to floor. Found steel line to abs valve blown, due to corrosion.
The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 25 mph, the brake pedal was depressed without a response. The vehicle continued to accelerate and crashed into the rear of the proceeding vehicle and it was driven off the road into a grassy field. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle sustained minor damage to the front bumper and undercarriage. The vehicle was not repaired. There was an open investigation, NHTSA action number ea11001 (service brakes, hydraulic: foundation hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
While driving on the highway, in a snowstorm, I had to hit the brakes to avoid another car, that had lost control. I was able to narrowly miss him, but when I went to stop, my brakes hit the floor. I was really lucky no one else was around, because I couldn't stop.
The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated there was a recall NHTSA campaign id number: 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock) and his vehicle was included. The recall repairs were performed at the dealer; however, approximately five years after the repairs were made the contact experienced a failure with the brakes. While driving approximately 10 mph the contact stated that when he drove over a bump in the road the brake pedal fell to the floor and then it vibrated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technicians stated that the repairs were made under the recall and they could not provide the service free of charge. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.
My wife was traveling to bay city michigan to go shopping. She applied the brakes to slow down the vehicle as there was another car in front of hers, making a left hand turn. After a second or two of fairly hard braking, the pedal suddenly went to the floor. My wife was able to get to the shoulder to slow down before hitting the rear end of the car in front of hers. Thankfully there was an adequate shoulder that she could pull off and slowly come to a stop.
I have a 1999 chevy silverado ext cab 4wd. When I am coming to a stop and almost stopped the antilock brakes start going off! its very scary because it increases my stop time conciderably ! it is almost definetly going to cause me to be in an accident! my milage is roughly 160000. The problem does not get worse or better and it happens at almost every stop!! this is a year that wasnt envolved in the recall and definetly should of been! please help before it causes injury to me,my family,or somebody else!!.
As I approach a stop, at very low speeds, the abs unit kicks in with a sudden shutter and extends the stop time and distance. This started about 3 months ago and has not gotten better or worse. It is unnerving to have this happen when I need to stop at an intersection or approaching a traffic signal turning red. Research on the internet indicates a NHTSA campaign id 05v37900 pe05020 was issued for this very same problem, including those vehicles in my state. I have been told, both by Chevrolet and NHTSA, that my vehicle's VIN number was not included in gm recall no. 05068, therefore not their nor your problem. I am upset that I have been rebuffed and want to know why my vehicle doesn't matter and the other ones do. I have had many problems with the truck's disc brakes over the years but this one concerns me very much since I don't know if or when they may fail in an emergency. Thanks you for your attention. I am awaiting your response.
The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 10 mph, the contact applied pressure to the brake pedal and the antilock braking system engaged independently. He also experienced an increase in stopping distance and time. The failure recurred whenever he would apply the brake pedal when driving at low speeds. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was informed that his vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number: 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 78,000 and the current mileage was 84,000.
I have a 1999 ext. Cab chevy silverado, my abs ,brake, and low fuel warning lights stay lite up until I turn off vehicle. And I have fuel and replaced brakes and the these warning lights still come on,.
Brakes do not work very good at speeds less than 8 mph.
Abs brakes kicking in at slow speeds when not needed. No lights on dash. No warnings when it will happen. Usually when stopping at crosswalks, parking lots or gas stations by pump. Probably tripling stopping distance. I almost hit a brick wall in the dealers parking lot but a curb stop stopped me luckily it was there.
Vehicle antilock brakes activate at low speed when they should not increasing stopping distance substantially. The issue is described in recall 2005-630-2438. The vehicle was taken in for recall repair in July 2006. The vehicle did not exhibit the recall issues at the time of recall repair. The vehicle now has the issues but chevy insists I am responsible for the repair since they have already taken care of the recall.
The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The vehicle was previously repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock), but the failure has recurred. The antilock brakes engaged and the stopping distance increased. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they informed him that the recall repair had been previously performed and he would have to pay for any additional repairs. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 44,000.
The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 15 mph, the contact heard a pulsating noise whenever the brake pedal was depressed. The antilock brakes activated suddenly and he crashed into another vehicle. The dealer stated that there were no recalls available for the failure and informed the contact to call general motors. General motors refused to repair the failure. The antilock brake was repaired two years prior to the recall. The failure and current mileages were 117,145.
Electronic brake control module has failed, disabling the vehicle's anti-lock brake system. Chevrolet wants $1500 for repair and it is a well documented common premature failure.
1999 chevy Silverado 1500 2wd, I have no abs brakes have not had them for years the abs module went out the truck was barley 6 years old to expensive to fix,.
Brakes on my 1999 silverado z71, are defective.
