The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds and turning the steering wheel, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle also lost power steering functionality and then stalled. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure; and referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
Truck has rough breaking at low speeds. It’s due to the break pump recall on this make, year and model. The break pump also makes a clicking sound when engine is running. Common in these trucks.
My vehicle started displaying a stabilitrak warning, gauge lights dimming, hard steering, and the ac turning off when I would push the brake pedal while driving. 15 miles later, while making a left hand turn, my vehicle shut off completely which caused a loss of power steering. I was able to avoid an accident as the vehicle did restart. Prior to this incident, I have taken the vehicle in twice to Chevrolet dealerships to diagnose this issue. Both times they stated they could not duplicate the issue so nothing was done. This seems to be a common issue for many 2014 Chevrolet silverado owners.
Make a left turn and lose all power the truck just dies in may or may not start right back up.
The vehicle has experienced dash and screen flickering while driving. When stopped and making turns the engine shuts off and the steering is locked. The whole dash goes blank. The engine is not able to restart or click. Anit-theft warning comes on for no reason. I feel there is a safety issue when driving this vehicle but no recalls have been placed. I don't feel safe driving my babies in the car.
Vehicle losses electric power steering specially at low speeds tends to jump to the right side or locks the steering wheel possibly accident if it continues. There are recalls on most trucks like mine but it seems that my truck is not in the list and it should be this is a real safety issue I believe that I report it to you before.

Towing 16ft stock trailer with 2 calves- turning left onto another 2 lane road which was downhill, engine shut off during turn, power steering went out, had truck brakes pressed to floor, trailer brakes didn't react. Took everything I had to turn the steering wheel to keep from going off embankment on both sides of road. Finally got stopped when road flattened out. Thank goodness no oncoming vehicle!!! message on dash to roll up drivers side window. Truck restarted! truck only has 60100 miles. What is going on with this truck? I could have injured myself or someone else? thank you in advance for allowing me to voice what happened today 6/28/21.
Transmission light comes on to say cut engine off, if not done quickly, just dies. It can cut off at any time. I just purchased truck and took it to the Chevrolet dealer they told me this year make and model has had a lot of transmission issues that the torque converter fails inside the transmission and they want 6000. 00 to fix it, I have not had the truck 60 days.
Problem first started about 6 weeks ago. Slowing down making a turn my truck would shut down without any warning. Once turning left in a four lane highway. Once turning into mc donalds jumping curb and several other times. Took into dealership for a recall told them about problem. They put analizer on it showing nothing. It has shut down several times since and a light on my truck finanally came on saying it was the trucks thief deterrent system. I will be taking this into my dealership again this morning but feel you should be aware of this problem as all control of truck was loss when turning into oncoming traffic.
Vehicle will shut off while driving at low speeds. Also power steering will come on and off during turns. Happens often. Then a messege pops up on dash to lower than put up drive side window. This happens without any warning.
Vehicle's electrical system will fail while driving, it may fail during ignition, and it may fail immediately after shutdown. These failures are catastrophic. All systems in the vehicle fail at once. All steering and braking assistance, all lights, hvac, ignition, fuel delivery, all electrical systems are affected by this dysfunction. This is highly dangerous as it can and does occur while driving at highway as well as residential speeds. Associated failures include various dash modules unresponsive or off intermittently, stabilitrac service message, action needed message: roll down then up driver window, exterior and interior lighting including headlights flickering and dimming, frozen or glitched or otherwise unresponsive radio, steering wheel forcefully jerking without input from driver or road, traction off indicators. All issues are sporadic, chronic, and debilitating. Vehicle has delivered stabilitrak messages and momentarily tripped all electronics while driving as well. Not every failure is complete, some glitches in the electrical may persistently occur under normal driving conditions, this puts un due strain on the attention, mindfulness, and peace a driver is reasonably expected to achieve in any vehicle. This has also been a precursor to complete failure and great care must be taken to remove the vehicle from roadways and traffic.
The vehicle will intermittently start to have electrical glitches such as loss of electric power steering, a/c and radio shutting off, stabilitrack shutting off and engine shutoff. I've heard there is a known ground issue with this model and its can be dangerous when moving if you lose steering control and engine control. This has happened multiple times the most recent was 6/28/2021.
This has happened several times on a 2014 chevy silverado I bought Apr 2020. The first time was Sep 2020 and diagnosis from the mechanic showed nothing found. Only showed error code that communication with the computer was lost. Code was cleared and it did not do it again until 2 Mar 2021. Upon initial ignition, the message window read "action needed. Roll driver window down and back up, I did this and then it went away. After driving on a flat, paved, dry road at about 35 mph. For no apparent reason, my truck displayed a message that said "stability control", the engine reved, rpms shot up to 5k and instrument cluster flicker several times, radio turned off and then returned to normal. A short time later at a light and the message appeared again, the radio and cluster completely shut off and then the truck suddenly died. I put it in park, and it restarted immediately, only to do it again (started again as well). The first two times this happened, the truck came back on without issue and I was able to safely pull over into a parking lot. It happened again within minutes of the second time and I had just pulled into a parking lot. This time, the truck completely died (no electricity, no ability to use blinkers, hazards, no power steering or brakes ect. Complete outage. After 10 minutes of it not coming on or starting, I called aaa to tow it and while on the phone (approx 30 minutes, it came back to life on its own (radio, instrument panel came on) and it started. I tried to drive it home, and at one light, it died again but restarted and I was able to get it home to make an appointment. I am writing this because of the dozens of cases of the same issues (some of which vehicles died while at driving speeds) with similar year and model gm vehicles on forums. This is a very dangerous issue which does not have a solution by gm and needs to be documented.
When I am driving I turn the blinker on or press the brake and the stable track comes on truck turns off at low speeds when I am turning the wheel or pressing the brake took it to the chevy dealership and nothing I tell them I almost crashed due to this issue and they say it's your hole wired electrical system that doesn't make sense I tell them I need recalls done and they still do nothing.
The vehicles afm system has bent a pushrod in my truck. There are numerous complaints online about this. I am out of warranty and there is no recall. Is this being investigated?.
Whenever pulling into parking lot slowly or reverse parking complete loss of power, have to put in park to restart vehicle. Usually while turning vehicle happens at least once a day.
I have experienced engine failure in my 2014 silverado 6. 2l on 3 separate occasions. All caused by the afm system. Rockers lock into the wrong position while transforming from 4 cylinder to 8 cylinder operation. The first two occurrences bent lifters and caused a failure to the catalytic converter. A certified gm service department at a local dealership replaced parts covered by warranty. On the third occasion the rockers locked into the wrong position, bent push rods, damaged the cam shaft and caused a failure in the catalytic converter. It was taken to the same gm service department at lou fusz Chevrolet. My 5 year warranty had expired and gm refused to cover the parts they had previously replaced a year prior. I was quoted approximately $10k for repairs and $16k for full engine replacement. After some back and forth with the service department manager I requested to speak with the lead mechanic. He informed me that it was an afm system problem he was very familiar with. He stated to me that I would be better off taking it to a private shop and bypassing the afm system as he was “working on” 10-15 vehicles a month with the same issue. At the time I had reached out to gm corporate about the issue and I did not receive a correspondence. I have all of the paperwork and receipts and all other service records dating back to my purchase of the vehicle in 2018.
While truck is traveling down road truck looses power shuts off, dash goes blank, loses power steering. Very dangerous.
While driving home, a stabilitrak warning appeared on the dash and my ac/radio began to stop but ramped back up after the dismissal. Once I got to my street, I made a left and the truck completed turned off. My steering wheel locked up, the wheel locked up, and there was no power to the vehicle. After about 3 minutes, the vehicle lights turned on and I was able to get to my driveway. I cannot imagine what would have happened if I was on the freeway. There's many other people on the web that have had the same issue with this truck.
While driving stabilitrack light comes on all electrical flickers while driving, also shuts off while driving which is dangerous and can be fatal.
Cam and lifter issues. Catalytic converters are bad. Only have 65000 miles on it.
While driving the truck at approximately 40 mph, the truck turned off and all electrical systems were disabled. Hazard lights were off and all other equipment including door lock and unlock were disabled. Electric steering turned off. This was a deadly malfunction and has happened twice now.
Our truck will shut off while driving down the road. The radio and air will turnoff first then the truck will shut right off. It is scary when you are towing and going right along on the highway when it turns off. Someone it's going to get killed before anything it's done. We had the recall done but it did not resolve the problem. The company does not care because I have complain about this problem before and nothing was done. Drivers beware and stay safe!.
While driving the vehicle intermittently shuts down and sometimes even restarts, tends to happen at low speeds. Chevrolet ( gm) has disavowed any knowledge that this happens, even though there are 1100 plus google pages about it.
Air conditioning condenser leak.
I am having the same issues as described in gm bulletin 15453. My vehicle shakes, jerks, or a hard shift when selecting a gear with the automatic transmission.
Everything turned off while driving on fwy at 80 miles. My doors unlocked truck turned off. Turned back on. Airbag light came on after everything turned off.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds and making a left turn, the steering wheel and brakes became inoperable. The vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was provided the diagnostic test cost, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering). The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
Stabililock light comes on. Trailer braking system comes on. Loss of dashboard lights. Lights go dim. Truck shuts off while moving. Won't start sometimes and yes it has a new battery. It has shut off on me about 5 times so far while driving on highway. Started about 3 months ago.
My 2014 chevy Silverado 1500 has 55,000 miles and the cam shaft and lifters broke. The vehicle broke down on the highway after driving 50 miles.
My truck has developed a radiator leak after 39930 miles. I see from reading on the internet this is a very common problem with this year of truck. Chevrolet even has a recall to replace the radiator but says my truck is not included. The recall notice is #15829. This ends up being a very expensive repair. I have been quoted $1428. 00 by a Chevrolet dealer to replace radiator.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated they noticed that their vehicle's ac unit was releasing heat. The contact spoke with the dealership (rick hendrick Chevrolet charleston located at 1500 savannah highway, charleston SC 29407 phone number 843-300-1232) who informed the contact that the ac compressor failed. The contact stated they lived in the stated of south carolina, therefore, the ac unit was necessary for safety purposes. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue who opened a case regarding the matter. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000. Gl.
Out of the blue at 59,000 miles I had a lifer go bad and the dealer wants $3500 to fix my truck. . . . I have changed the oil when my on board oil change light tells me I take care of my truck and I can't believe this would happen I asked for chevy's assistance on this matter and now they tell me I have an engine block on my truck which voids my engine from them giving me assistance my truck is a 2014 crew cab 4x4 ltz texas edition which sra did for the dealership , the chevy customer assistance person tells me the block was put on 8/15 a year after I bought my truck and I asked what was this about and they couldn't tell me to call my dealer and ask a device manager and when I did that they told me they had no idea what I was talking about so now I'm to do what, thank you Chevrolet for a below standard quality truck. . . .
Had a failure with the dod or the afm . I think one of the lifters on the v4 dod got stuck and caused my truck to shut down on the interstate doing 80 mph. Now the truck wont start and justs turns over. . Theres no fuel or spark problems. This is the 1st problem with the truck that has 108,263 miles on it. This needs to be recalled cause there is no warning before you get the reduced engine power/ stabilink off light comes on. I already found out a lot of people that this has happened to.
