During low speed turning the vehicle loses power steering, the ac powers off and on, the stablitrac warning blinks on and off and the radio cycles on and off. This is a known recall for 2014 chevy silverados however gm says it was repaired before I bout my truck 3 years ago and wont cover it to be repaired again this has happened multiple times in the last 2 weeks and is increasing in frequency.

At slow speeds, such as when parking, the truck?s electrical system shuts down, I lose power steering, dash lights, radio, and then the truck restarts itself and continues. This has happened multiple times and Chevrolet dealers don?t w what the problem is. If nearly collided twice due to lack of power steering.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while her son was driving approximately 7 mph, the vehicle lost power steering which made the steering wheel difficult to turn which resulted in a crash with another vehicle that was parked. A police report was filed. The traction control warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to local dealer. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering) however the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of failure and told the contact that their vehicle had no recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 134,231.

My service power steering alert came up on my dic and lost power steering. When I got home I shut vehicle off and waited 10 minutes and started vehicle up and message was gone and I had power steering. Drove to work next day and was ok. Just before I arrived home, I got the same message and no power steering again. Same scenario as before, let vehicle sit and restart and everything working. I told them this and they said that I need to replace the power steering rack at my cost of 2600. 00 that the vehicle has 100,000 miles on it and things go bad. I told them that it was highway miles and that shouldn't matter.

This problem was a recall and was repaired before at no cost. Now it is happening again. I took a 100 mile round trip day trip. . . On the way back I got a steering warning that flashed 2 times on my dashboard while going 75 mph on the highway. Then when turning into my subdivision the truck stalled and I lost all power steering. This happened one other time in a home depot parking lot. I feel the truck is unsafe to drive. And I haul a 36 foot travel trailer occasionally. Obviously this is the second time the same thing has happened. . . The first time it was a free recall repair. . . Please advise on how to proceed. I plan to trade the truck in ASAP due to the fact that my husband and I are up in age and no longer able to travel.

After traveling 50 highway miles, when I was making a slow left hand turn onto a residential street, my vehicle lost power steering, lost power brakes, lost onstar, and the engine shut off. I proceeded to turn manually and stop ending up in the opposite lane. If a car was in the lane it would have been an accident. This problem has occurred multiple times since 2018 and has been in the dealership 3 times for this problem: once for 17272 in 2017, once clearing codes-paid over $ 100 for a diagnostic analysis they cleared codes, no repair 9/30/2019, once cannot repeat 9/03/2020, and once upgrading software 1/7/2020. Short time stabilitrak warnings abs warning and notice to raise driver's side window up and down came on multiples times. Clearly gm chev has not solved this software logic problem and cannot fix a clear significant safety issue.

I lost my power steering and the dealership says I need a new pcm part number 19417067. Very unsafe for a vehicle of three years and less than 30,000 miles.

While driving in reverse I will lose power steering and stability control warning comes on. This has been happening for months now. Today while driving when I put my blinker on the stability control warning went on my lights dimmed and truck was shutting off but then came back on. When turning the stability control came on and my vehicle completely shut off while driving. If I wasn't going down a low traffic street I would have crashed. When driving at night with the ac on when getting on my brakes the headlights dim steering wheel will lock up and the stability control will come on and tries to kill the motor. This for the most time happens when getting in my driveway, today was the first time it happened while driving at higher speeds.

When backing out of the driveway I lost power steering - this happened after recalls were performed. On the third visit to the dealer I was asked to pay for additional diagnosis to resolve the reoccurring power steering issue. Walked out of dealership, wasted my morning.

Silverardo 2016 1500 pick up truck suddenly lost power steering with no warning. Truck is in fine operating condition, there are no current recalls for steering for this year. Wife was driving. The truck was in motion on the highway exit. Pulled over. I went out to get the truck looked for any issues. Restarted truck power steering worked then failed again after 5 minutes. Drove the truck to a parking lot. Restarted truck and power steering works. While some persons may be able to steer the truck to a safe spot, it is difficult and takes a significant amount of upper body strength to control the vehicle. How do I safely let my wife drive this car? I am worried that this previous defect/issue was not properly addressed by Chevrolet. Thank you.

Intermittently loses power steering, and makes it extremely difficult to drive. A message pops up and says, service power steering drive with care. While moving at low speed attempting to make a turn, vehicle will lose power steering and headlights will dim and flicker. Also sitting at idle vehicle will have no power steering and when turning the steering wheel, lights will dim to almost going out completely. On several occasions when making a turn and this happens vehicle will display that stabil trac has been disengaged. Door locks also unlocked and locked while this was happening. Also when traveling and using cruise control when turning on the turn signals cruise control will disengage and stabil trac notification will come on in display. Dealer replaced battery approximately 6 months ago stating it was bad and these issues mimicked a bad battery. All problems still persist.

I leased this brand new 2019 chevy Silverado 1500 on September 16th, 2019. On November 22, 2019, I lost power steering while backing out of my driveway. I was unable to turn the wheel, and the service esc, trailer brake steering assist reduced message appeared. The steering did not come back until I shut the truck off and restarted it. I took the truck in the same day to the dealer to be serviced after this alarming event. When given to the dealer it only had 1,647 miles on it. It remains at the dealer do to my safety concerns. I do not feel safe driving it.

Vehicle was in motion moving straight forward at a very slow speed (inching out of car wash during drying cycle). Dash service indicator came on "service power steering drive with care". Lost power steering almost instantaneously as dash service warning appeared. Was able to pull out of gas station with no power steering and pulled to side of road, turned off truck. Checked under the hood to see if any noticeable loose connections (none). Wiggled fuses in fuse box under hood. Restarted vehicle and dash "service" indicator flashed on but power steering worked for 2 corners (200 yards) while driving 25 mph and failed with same service warning. Limped truck with no power steering to dealer about 3 miles. No noticeable affect to accelerator or other electronics in the vehicle. Vehicle has 39,400 miles on it.

While engaging slow idle speed turns, my 2014 silverado will occasionally completely lose all power steering and the engine will shut off completely. I have also had the same issue occur while driving straight and applying the brake or rolling up windows. During these terrifying situations, a message comes across the dash saying one or all of the following "electronic power steering reduced. Drive with caution" "stabilitrack" "trailer brakes". This issue seems to be very sporadic and unpredictable. I looked up possible solutions and had a mechanic fix a poor grounding connection under the dash which they thought could be the cause but did not resolve the problem. Please help!.

Then, the car occasionally loses all electrical power (screens, gauges, lights, starter, garage door opener) while parked and off. Then last week, it lost all electrical power at 70+ mph on the highway. Lost power steering, all screens turned off, gauges when to zero, etc. This lasted for about 3 seconds and then everything came back on. Many warning lights including power steering, traction control, parking assist disabled. This also gave a 4wd service warning. Now, I get the service 4wd warning every time I start the vehicle and it will not go into 4 wd.

While driving last night I was u-turning at a major intersection when the truck lost all power, then flashed "stabilitrak" on the dash, and jerked the steering wheel out of my hand. Should there have been someone coming the other direction there surly would have a major head on collision. I pulled into a parking lot after re-firing the truck and tried some low speed sharp turns and sure enough the same issue. Flickering power, "stabilitrak" flashing on dash, and steering wheel jerked out of my hand. When I say steering jerked its not as if I just lost power steering, the wheel will actually jerk as if its trying to get back to center on its own. I left the truck over night and went back this morning to have someone follow me home. This is a major safety issue. There is no issued recall for my VIN. I've found hundreds of stories and videos on the internet very similar to mine for this same issue. There are some recalls for other model years that sound like they are aimed at the problem but not for my model/year and everyone I've found that has had the recalls for steering and voltage issues says that the problem continues. Its terrifying thinking that im driving a 6,000lbs mass that can shut off and steer itself out of no where. Ridiculous that this has not been resolved or even acknowledged by gm!.

The vehicle was driven to ciocca Chevrolet of quakertown (855 s west end blvd, quakertown, PA 18951) where it was diagnosed that the steering gear assembly, torque sensor, and harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,100.

My vehicle has completely lost power steering and power twice while in the middle of driving on busy roads. Once by myself and the second with my four grandchildren in the car. I have taken it to the dealership after first incident paid 300 dollars for them to look at it and they told me couldn't find anything wrong. There was a recall in 2017 for the same problem for this year vehicle but they are claiming mine isn't under that recall and refusing to fix it. ( for example my phone was charging and it locked up my phone after it did this) I am concerned about my safety while driving this vehicle and cannot get the chevy(general motors) dealership to help me. They are claiming not to have known about the recall in 2017 at all. I've only had this truck for about a year and it has done this to me now 2 times in the last couple of months. Both times in very busy areas where my truck stalls and looses power steering.

The steering wheel has a popping noise every time I turn it. The 2nd thing is, I have lost power steering 8-10 times while turning into a parking spot. One time it stalled the engine and lost all power for 30-40 minutes and I had to unhook the battery cables to reset so it would crank. Makes me feel real safe while going around a curve at 60 mph wondering if I'm going to lose power again.
