On several occasions the truck will completely shut off while in a turn. All dashboard information shuts down. On several occasions driving about 35-50 mph going straight and then turning on blinker attempting to make a lane change the truck cuts out and shuts off for a second and turns back on. The headlights flicker and using power windows sometimes causes the truck to shut off for a second and come back on. This happens in park, turning, or driving down the road. I have already had the vehicle in the shop and this is after the software update, and the vacuum pump for the brakes was replaced twice.

First off the brakes have failed on me a bunch of times. I brought it to the dealer before the recalls started and they said it was normal. The problem got worse causing two low speed accidents with no damage but scary. Note I have two kids in the car. Been in for multiple recalls. One accident happened in a drive thru and one in my driveway. Both were front end collisions but no damage. Second the truck shakes at higher speeds. Starting at 24mph up to 80. My kids teeth shatter in the back. That's how bad it is. Dealers said there is no fix for that so I started by re balancing my tires and after that didn't work I got new tires. Still have the issue and its more of a headache to bring it into the dealer cause they don't want to fix it or can't. Currently on 40,000 miles on my truck and already had a multitude of issues with oil pump failure, steering column replaced due to moving horizontal. Seat issues they couldn't fix so had to replace the bracket and brakes are ongoing.

When slowing down to park, I lost braking and could not stop the truck. I had to put the truck in park to stop the momentum. This happened going in reverse. When taken to dealer I was charged $470. 96 for parts and labor at n the vacuum pump which provides power for braking and steering.
Tl-the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while driving and turning into a gas station the indicator lights came on and the electrical power steering stopped working. The contact had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting another person and a gas pump. The contact turned off the engine and turned the vehicle back on and was able to reset the power steering. The vehicle was able to be driven to the dealer alamo city Chevrolet 9400 san pedro Ave, san antonio, TX 78216 (210) 987-2134 who stated the electrical power steering shorted out and needed to be replaced. The contact currently is over 36,000 miles so was not covered by the warranty. The manufacturer was contacted but did not callback the contact until today after contact waited since 06/18/2018. The failure mileage was 40,000. Tf.
My truck on a few different occasions has had the stability of arming come on out of nowhere and go off. When I back my truck in my drive way a couple times when I am going backwards and turning I have had the truck almost die due to the draw from the powerstering pump as I turn the steering wheel. I have had the engine die once while backing it in the driveway leaving me stranded in the street for a minute while the truck seemed to re-boot. When I am in park at night if the truck is running in park with the lights on and I turn the steering wheel back and forth the light will really dim and pulse as the steering wheel goes back and forth. With these issues I hope that this doesn't happen at an intersection or somewhere with more traffic and cause an accident that I have no control over.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving at slow speeds and making a right turn, the steering became difficult to operate. The vehicle was taken to john watson Chevrolet (3535 wall Ave, ogden, ut 84401, (801) 394-2611) where it was diagnosed that the power steering pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred two days later. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v719000 (steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
So far it has only done this under low speed making a tight turn like up to a gas pump or into a parking space the dash and display center will flash on and off and the steering wheel will jerk the other direction so violently it pulls the steering wheel out of your hand. Also on the highway while driving about 20 mph I got a warning something to the effect that steering assist had been reduced drive with caution. Even under low speed it could have been dangerous but I'm afraid at some point this will occur at a higher speed. We bought the vehicle used, the factory warranty is gone but I have an extended warranty. I contacted my local chevy dealer because I considered a safety defect that should be taken care of beyond the warranty but they claim they know nothing about this as a problem despite the fact I have seen many complaints about this problem documented, that's what prompted me to file a complaint. The vehicle is currently at my mechanic hoping they can find a cause/solution but I think this is something gm/chevy should be doing a recall on and fixing instead of people having to pay out of pocket or private after market warranty companies having to pay for. I have a video of it doing it on my iphone but didn't know if I could include video and it's currently on my phone and not my laptop. I used 02/01/2017 as occurrence date but I'm not sure of that was the first time or not, we've had vehicle since 12/2016 and it's happened numerous times.
I was leaving my home made a right hand turn as I was coming up to the 35 mph speed limit there was a beep and the vehicle was hard to turn. A message was displayed on the information display advising to get power steering serviced. I drove it to the dealership which was two miles away. Was advised that the electric steering pump went bad. The vehicle has approximately 3,200 miles and I have been driving it since April 29, 2016. Chevrolet notified. Vehicle is at stevenson Chevrolet, swansboro, nc 28584. If this happened on a highway I probably would not be writing this.
I bought this truck used from a chevy dealer. It steers badly. Constant need to over correct. High turning resistance at any speed. The dealers mechanic drove it and said nothing wrong. Not able to grease ball joints. Something draggy or low pump pressure, etc. This truck is tiring to drive and not safe. Thanks. . Arnie.

Took truck in for state inspection, truck failed inspection due to rusted brake lines, power steering pump leaking , dealer said it would be $1228. 43 to $1420. 99 to just fixed the brake lines all lines needed replaced and calipers screws. Power steering pump cost 535. 00 to replace. Poor quality ,high cost to fix and lack of safety on gm part for not covering rubber coating or using stainless steel lines to protect our family very discouraged with service tech said these are the prices. What happened to our safety. Brake lines and gas lines should not be made of steel that can corrode and rust out and break. Power steering pump with these few miles should not have gone out. My 1988 chevy truck never had these problems. There needs to be a recall.

Driving around curve on residential street in my 2008 Chevrolet silverado I came upon an illegally parked car. I attempted to steer away from car when steering locked up and I could not avoid hitting car then curb then garage. Steering made a strange clicking noise during my attempt to avoid the car. I had the power steering pump repaired in February 2010 at dealership where we had purchased our truck for this same problem. They found the pump to be defective and effected a replacement of this part.

The contact owns a 1997 Chevrolet silverado. He stated that while driving at 65 mph the steering wheel started to steer on its own, moving right to leftand become very hard to steer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that it was the electronic module on the power steering pump. They also stated that they knew that this was a common problem. The repair was done at the owners expense. The failure mileage was 89800 and current mileage was 90000.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 35 mph and proceeding to turn, the steering wheel unexpectedly moved back and forth. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and later resumed normal operation. The driver sustained a moderate wrist injury. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they replaced the power steering pump. One month prior to the steering pump repair, the steering gears were replaced. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on five separate occasions for identical failures, but there were no resolutions. In addition, there was a defective propeller shaft assembly which has been replaced several times. The failure mileage was 18,600 and current mileage was 23,000.
Loss of power steering (in one direction only) at low speeds. Affects ability to park vehicle in tight spots and to make slow turns. Have managed to avoid a accident. This has been an issue for over a year and over the last 15,000 miles. Three different mechanics gave various possible reasons but no one, including the gm service line, could give a definite cure. Was told "could try" power steering pump, steering box, etc. All were costly solutions with no guarantee of cure.

I purchased this (currently 87,000 miles) truck new in late 2004. I have replaced the steering gear twice (at 20,227 and 86,033 miles). The power steering pump twice (at 32,379 and 86,033 miles). And the power steering shaft twice (at 31,087 and 42,169 miles). While this is on its third power steering pump, each of the first 2 pumps had to be inspected for repairs due to noises when it was in for service. While the manufacturer issued bulletins for these parts after receiving complaints from customers about failures, the manufacturer has not recalled these parts.
