Bought the truck 2 weeks ago and put 500 miles on it. Upon entering I got an alert on the dash saying esc power steering failure, parking sensor failure and abs failure drive with caution. All these alerts happened while the vehicle was parked and barely turned on. Sure enough I try to turn the steering wheel and the power steering was out and the parking sensors were out. I didn't try the brakes since I was not moving and parked.

On Jan 30, 2021 a check engine light appeared on start-up but had no noticeable difference in driving conditions or reading from dash gauges. Checked engine code and it read po6dd, took my truck to a gm dealer and they ran a test showing 20psi too low of oil pressure at the top side of the engine as a result of a failed oil pump solenoid. Was told this could have caused an engine failure. Cost to repair this issue is >$3,000. 00. While the dealership was test driving my truck after repairing the oil solenoid the entire power steering unit failed. The entire power steering unit needs to be replaced and is nearly $1,500. 00 to repair. These problems on a 5 year old vehicle with 103,490 miles seems like a major issue. I reached out to gm and they said that these issues are not under recall and will not be assisting in any costs involved in repairs.

My transmission failed and I couldn't go over 40mph. The truck would jump and bounce and make loud screeching noises. At first I thought it was all the transmission. I asked a family friend who is a mechanic and he diagnosed it. He concluded that the transmission wasn't the only problem. The motor was having difficulties changing from v8-v4 also. I have been told by many people that I need to get a tuner to delete the computer program that changes the amount of cylinders firing. I have also seen/heard trucks that go without the delete too long. Also, my power steering will fail at low speeds while turning. Gm fails to see that my truck has this issue. Saying it doesn't affect my VIN.

While driving, warning message on dic comes on and say power steering needs service. Power steering completely fails. Truck becomes very difficult to steer. Not only does it not help, but the steering motor makes it harder to turn. This is the third episode of this. The first two times it reset. The first time I took it to dealer and they said they could see codes in history but could not find a problem so unless it was actively doing it there was nothing they could fix (cost me $200) the second time it reset before I could make an appointment. This time it has lasted two days. If it doesn't reset I will take it in without an appointment for them to look at.

While driving my truck, the power steering failed, and a service power steering warning came on the dash. I called my local dealership, and they said they couldn't get me in to look at the truck until Friday (3 days). I called chevy customer service and they said there is no recall, but I found a recall 17276 that covers this exact issue. The power steering kicked back on and almost caused a head on collision as the truck swirved when the system reengaged.
My 2014 chevy silverado suffers from the same loss of power steering issue gm just issued a recall for in sept. Of 2018 for the 2015 model of the silverado. When attempting to park or performing low speed turns the power steering with fail making it incredibly difficult to safely control the vehicle. When on the highway using cruise control, the cruise control had failed without warning and the steering locks up for a moment when this happens. This is a serious safety issue affecting more vehicles than just the 2015 models, and the recall should be expanded to include all affected year models. This issue happens intermittently without warning, and occurs multiple times a week. I purchased this vehicle in Dec of 2017, and the issue has been present since my ownership.
This vehicle has had a previous recall for power steering failure at low speeds due to voltage issues. The recall and software update was performed in September of 2017. I have recently been experiencing the same symptoms from the previous recall. I have noticed when driving at low speeds I will temporarily loose power steering. This has happened approximately 5 times in the last month. It usually occurs when I am in a parking lot, pulling into a parking space, at low speeds 5-10 mph, and when I am turning. The power steering stops working for a second or so and then comes right back. I have also noticed while traveling on the highway or interstate my headlights flickering as if there is a low voltage issue. The voltage meter has been in the normal operating range, and I have had no warning lights or alarms when these incidents have occurred. Most recent incident occurred today 4/30/19 when pulling into a parking space at a local restaurant.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving at a low rate of speed to make a turn, the electric power steering failed and went into manual mode. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact kept the vehicle parked due to the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving or reversing at 5 to 10 mph, the brake pedal failed to depress. The failure made it difficult to stop the vehicle. There was also a loss of power steering ability at the same low speeds. The failures occurred intermittently. The dealer (chelsea Chevrolet Buick, 2038 mckernan dr, chelsea, mi 48118, (734) 475-8663) stated that they knew about the failures, but there was no recall. The dealer stated that they could help with the power steering failure since it could still be covered by the warranty. The manufacturer suggested that the contact take the vehicle to the dealer to be evaluated. The failure mileage was 70,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 chevy silverado. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph the steering wheel started jerking and the vehicle turned off. The vehicle started up again after several attempts but the power steering failed to operate while the control light for the power steering came on. The vehicle was driven to the dealer star Chevrolet 1628 s azalea dr, wiggins, ms 39577 (678) 369-6037 however no repairs had been completed. The dealer stated the vehicle did not have any recalls and was to charge the contact for repairs. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 73,038. Tf.
I bought the truck brand new in March of 2016. At just over 2 years and 40,000 miles, the electric power steering system started failing intermittently while driving the vehicle, seizing control of the steering. It happened while stopped, then it happened when turning on a city street. Extremely dangerous and should not happen on a new vehicle. Chevy is refusing to do anything about it even though this was a known issue and recall on the 14 & 15 model years.
Driving down a country road the power steering failed while going around a corner at 40mph and came back almost causing total loss of control.
When turning into parking lot today at low speed, electrical system went crazy, screen flashed power steering failure, stabilitrac failure, doors locked and unlocked and engine died. Restarted and was fine driving forward and repeated failures again when turning to park in parking space. It is fortunate this was in a parking lot and not on interstate or other main road or while turning at a traffic light. There was a recall in fall of 2017 for power steering that was repaired at dealership upon notification. When I contacted the dealership, the service department supervisor advised it sounded as if there was a poor connection of a battery cable. The battery was replaced just a few months ago. It seems to me that if a it's a battery cable connection issue, then gm has another safety problem they need to address since I've read numerous other complaints with the exact same issues, and in my opinion, there must be a manufacturer defect if battery cables just come loose for no apparent reason. This needs to be fixed before someone is very seriously injured or killed as a result of this dangerous condition. Gm seems to be aware of the other reported issues and has taken no measures to correct it. Maybe all of us who own their vehicles should file a class action lawsuit and they might get off their a$$ES and do something! I certainly won't hesitate to file a civil complaint for product liability if a family member is hurt as a result of their continued negligence.

Power steering fails during a turn along with the engine stalling and all electrical power being shut down. Steering becomes very difficult each time this happens. It is an intermittent issue. But it is a safety issue every time it happens. A google search yields many, many similar reports. Why has this not been addressed? it is Dec 2017 and many of these dangerous vehicles are still not fixed by gm.
Power steering failure caused accident, it has been five months and they have done nothing.

The vehicle ignition turned off while driving (vehicle in motion) causing the power steering to fail. This has happened three times in the past 3 weeks. Gm does not list this model as part of its recall and when I contacted gm they recommended taking it to a dealer and having it repaired at my expense.

I had steering wheel turned all the way to the left, to pull into a parking lot, and attempted to turn wheel back all the way to the right to enter a parking space. When I attempted to turn back to the right, the engine rpm dropped and power steering failed. I was able to force the steering wheel through the turn to avoid hitting parked car, and power steering returned to normal after engine recovered. I have also had similar problem when attempting parking lot maneuvers and backing up trailers. Took to dealer where they showed me a print out that stated the problem exists, but is not recognized as a problem because power steering returns to "normal" when vehicle returns to normal driving conditions.
