Summary of incident: on March 28, 2026, while traveling at 70 mph on the florida turnpike, the vehicle suffered an instantaneous loss of motive power. The engine died abruptly with no warning. Upon reaching the shoulder, the electronic transmission locked, refusing to shift into neutral or park. The engine cranks but will not start. 1. Component failure & availability: the exact component is currently unknown, but the failure involves the powertrain, fuel system, and electronic transmission control. The vehicle is currently at an authorized dealership and is available for inspection by the manufacturer or NHTSA upon request. 2. Safety risk: the sudden loss of power at highway speeds created an immediate risk of a rear-end collision. Because the electronic transmission locked and would not allow the vehicle to be shifted into neutral, it became a fixed object on a high-speed shoulder. It could not be pushed to a safer location, increasing the risk of a secondary accident. 3. Problem reproduction: the vehicle was towed directly to an authorized Chevrolet dealership. As of this filing, the dealership is in possession of the vehicle, but the failure has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a technician as they are awaiting formal diagnostic commencement. 4. Inspections: the vehicle was inspected by a roadside towing professional for transport. It is currently at the manufacturer’s authorized service center awaiting a formal diagnostic inspection. No police or insurance inspections have occurred. 5. Warning symptoms: there were no warning lamps, "check engine" lights, or messages prior to the failure. No symptoms like rough idling or unusual noises occurred. The vehicle performed normally until the moment of total power loss.

I'm reporting a 5mpg fuel economy reduction immediately following the 6. 2l l87 engine recall (NHTSA #24v795000). I use 93 octane and monitor my fuel mileage consistently. I bragged about my fuel economy in my 6. 2l until after the recall was applied. This is going to cause a financial hardship as I'm on fixed income after servicing 29 years in the army and 100% disabled. There is no other reason my mpg should have changed as my driving habits have not.

1. The fuel pump power control module on my 2022 chevy silverado failed. It was 38 months old and had 14,970 miles on it. I purchased it only 2 months ago. I believe the specific part number was 13554060. It was replaced with part number 13554821. The dealer retained--or more likely, disposed of--the old part. The cost of the repair was $762. 87. 2. I was driving on rt. Us 20 in toledo, ohio. My truck experienced a sudden loss of power without warning. The vehicle stalled and would not restart. I had to call a tow truck. The truck was towed to ballas Buick, where the part was replaced. 3. There was a voluntary recall of other vehicles that utilize this same part, so the manufacturer should be aware of the flaw in this component. The recall number is n252516900. 4. No warning light came on before the vehicle stalled, stranding me on the road. I had just enough of a sense of the impending failure to pull to the side of the road.

I’d like to report a serious, ongoing safety concern with my 2019 Chevrolet silverado (5. 3 v8 53,028 mi) since Dec 2025. Over the last 4 months, I have experienced at least 20 engine failures/loss of power, with no engine light illuminated after restarting truck. These failures result in a complete loss of power, including steering and braking, posing a significant risk of a crash. Chevy said it would be hard to diagnose with no engine warning light on. Feb 24th, engine failure, warning light stayed on and towed truck to chevy. Truck on standby, repaired Mar 10th, replacing 2 oxygen sensors per diagnostics. Picked it up on March 11th, but engine shutdown again the same day and 4 additional failures while driving in my neighborhood, making the truck undrivable. I reached out to chevy service supervisor, juliana, but have received no response for the last 10 days. I urge NHTSA to investigate this defect as it poses a severe safety risk. Thank you for your urgent attention.

Year: 2022 make: Chevrolet model: Silverado 1500 engine: 2. 7l turbomax (l3b) VIN: [xxx] mileage at failure: 119,139 description of problem: 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2. 7l l3b turbomax engine is completely inoperable due to cylinder 4 exhaust roller follower failure causing exhaust camshaft failure and bent exhaust valves. Vehicle shakes severely, will not accelerate, check engine light on, and has gone into limp mode. Diagnostic codes p0304 (cylinder 4 misfire) and p2101 (electronic throttle actuator fault triggered by engine shaking and limp mode) were recorded. All external components including spark plugs, coils, and injector harnesses were inspected and ruled out as causes. Failure is confirmed mechanical and internal. This failure was diagnosed and documented in writing by an authorized Chevrolet dealership on March 12, 2026 (repair order xxx, service advisor [xxx] ). The dealer's written estimate states verbatim: "failed cylinder 4 exhaust roller follower failure causing exhaust camshaft failure and bent exhaust valves. Cylinder head replacement required to correct this concern. Direct cause of engine noise and misfire condition. " dealer repair quote: $10,371. 34. A second independent shop confirmed the same failure and cited active fuel management (afm) and direct fuel injection (dfi) as known contributing design factors in this engine's oil consumption and internal wear pattern. That shop quoted between $11,876. 88 and $14,897. 35. This is a known pattern in the l3b engine platform. Consumer reports has documented a 4% catastrophic failure rate in this engine. Multiple NHTSA complaints exist for this same failure across 2019-2022 model years. Gm has issued technical service bulletins but has not issued a recall. General motors was formally notified of this failure via certified mail and executive email on March 24, 2026. Vehicle is inoperable and poses a safety risk as the failure causes sudden loss of power and engine shaking w information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foi.

2022 Silverado 1500 6. 2l total engine failure, replacement needed.
My entire engine and the right bank lifters failed. Thankfully, these issues didn't fail until my truck was parked in my garage. No warning lamps did not trigger until these issues started. There was no warning. I have been having engine issues with this truck dating back to 2022. I will include all documents showing the issues I've had in the past 3 years. I was informed by the dealer that this is a known issue with this year and model of truck and even they were surprised that gm hasn't issued a recall. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership only.
Loss of engine propulsion while traveling down a highway towing a #5000 trailer at 65 mph. Less than five miles before the failure the vehicle experienced a momentary downshift of the transmission such as you would experience while climbing a hill or extreme headwind. No warning lights were present at that time or at any time prior to engine shutdown. Upon failure panel indicated "press engine start" and transmission indicated "park" though we were rolling/coasting at over 60 mph. Realizing that we had lost propulsion I guided the vehicle to the shoulder and stopped. Solid check engine light on at this time. Depressing the "start" button while stopped would not start or crank over the engine. Boost box would not crank engine, slight noise from starter as if unable to turn engine over. Called tow truck, seewald's towing in st. Ignace, mi. Towed to nearest Chevrolet dealer wheeler motors cheboygan, mi.
Fuel tank and def tank issues that throws error codes that will make your engine go into slump mode.
I have had my vehicle to a gm dealership three times now due to the check engine light coming on and getting an emission warning. 2/13/26 was the first visit. It was right after I filled up my tank with gas that the check engine light came on when I started driving down the road. I got an appointment at a gm dealership. They put the scanner on it and received the codes. They drove it back to the service garage and I went back to work. I received information from them that they could not fix anything because the check engine light had disappeared and there were no codes available anymore. I picked up my vehicle and a week later 2/20/26 the same thing happened after I got gas. The check engine light came on and an emission warning on my chevy app. I stopped back into the same dealership. And the same thing happened. Scanner, codes, and then they disappeared. The third time I got gas the same thing happened again with the check engine light and emission system warning. This was on 2/28/2026. I went to a different dealership and the exact same thing happened. . . . . Scanner, codes received, schedule an appointment to get it in the following week, started the vehicle and pulled out. The check engine light was still on at that time. And the check engine light disappeared once again as I was driving down the road. Each time this has happened I have been able to use my remote start via my chevy app along with trying to use my handheld key fob remote start. The dealerships have told me this is normal for this type of check engine light emission warning. When researching this issue there are a lot of people experiencing the same thing. Scratching my head wondering why there's not a recall on this.

Loud chatter/rattle noise under acceleration and idle loss of power with no engine lights on dash metallic shards in oil.
The oil cooler lines cracked due to cold weather and oil spouted out of the engine. Truck was immediately pulled over when the chime went off, however the engine still seized up and needs to be replaced. No warning lights before, just the chime at 0 oil pressure. I see that canada and alaska has this part recalled and I want to know why it’s not recalled everywhere. No oil was leaking prior to this incident. This left us stranded on the side of the highway and we now have to purchase a new engine with only 65,000 miles on it.
The def tank failed making the exhaust system malfunction. This puts the vehicle in limp mode.
I just bought this truck off a used car lot certified dealer and I noticed the engine light on then the truck would hesitate to start and I know the battery is dying so I looked it up and I got a recall on 2021 chevy silverado just like mine just wondering why mine is not under recall or why won’t mine get fixed but everybody else is the same year in the same problems can get fixed. I think mine should be fixed.

Prior to this incident, I had been having issues with my fuel management system give a “reduced acceleration” warning (codes p0087, p228b) in weather below 28-30f. It was in the shop 3 times prior: first time was “bad fuel”, second had my fuel rail and fuel filter replaced, and third time I had my high pressure fuel pump replaced (also had a rear crank seal leak). While approaching a stop sign, my vehicle gave me a check engine light with a “reduced acceleration” warning followed by several other warning messages and then ultimately lost power and shut off give me no ability to steer or brake my vehicle. Luckily, my vehicle came to stop and no crash or injuries occurred. If this had been at higher speeds the outcome could have been fatal to myself or another driver/passenger on the road. This incident also gave me a p0087, p12a6, p228a, and p228b error codes. I was able to restart the vehicle and make it home. The following day, the “reduced acceleration” message once again appeared. The vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting diagnosis and repair.
January 23, 2026, truck wouldn't start, would crank but not turn over. We lost power steering. We're stranded and had it towed to chevy dealership. System code reported the fuel pump control module had failed. For some reason, gm did not include chevy silverado in their list of vehicles in the 2025 fpcm recall. We're lucky we weren't on the freeway when this part failed. We would have been going 60mph with loss of power steering. Gm needs to do better. Was repaired under warranty at sunset Chevrolet 901 traffic Ave, sumner wa.
The cam crankshaft failed. I was driving on the highway at a speed between 65-75 and my truck just cut off without any warning. Luckily, I was in far right lane and coasted over to the side of the road but it was very scary because I didn't control my truck at all. I called the nearest Chevrolet dealership that was kevin whitaker and they give me the Chevrolet help contact phone and they sent a tow truck to pickup my truck about 1 hr later and I was stuck in my truck on the side of the road and I couldn't get out on the drive side because how close it was to oncoming traffic. Once I arrived at the dealership with my truck after asking the tow driver could I ride with him to the dealership. At the dealership they checked the truck with computerized device and the service advisor told me the truck code revealed cam shaft problems. I told him that I did see and warning sign saying low oil pressure once I tired to start up the truck again on the side of the road.
They did the pico test they said the engine was good they upgraded the oil months after that 3 time back to the dealer do to loss of propulsion its in a gm dealer shop waiting for the new long block as of 02-16-2026.
Can shaft and lifters failed.
I was notified that my 2023 silverado had an open recall (l87 engine loss of propulsion). I brought the truck to the dealer for the recall on 8/19 with 35,921 miles on the vehicle. The inspection was performed and I was told it passed. When I asked about the extended special coverage they told me they didn't know what I was talking about. Only 4 months and 4,567 miles later, on 12/29, the vehicle shutdown in traffic and was not able to restart. The engine had failed and the starter fuse blew due to the motor being seized. The dealer relaced the engine due to the same recall that the engine had already been inspected and passed the inspection for.
Driving south on i95 under normal condition. After driving for about a hour truck started smoking under the hood. I pulled over and turned off vehicle. I released the latch to open hood. When I got out of the vehicle to lift the hood there were flames coming from both sides of the hood. I did not lift the hood. I moved away from the vehicle and called 911. Police and fire department responded and extinguished the fire. Vehicle was a total loss. Gm indicates they will not investigate the cause and I should work through my insurance company for compensation.
Engine failure.
I was driving on the interstate, when all my dash lights came on. When stationed, it would vibrate and have excessive smoke come from the exhaust when I would start driving again. After arriving to my destination there was an unusual burning/smokey smell when I got out of the vehicle. I got it scanned and it said it was a cylinder 2 misfire. I replaced the spark plug, coolant, gaskets. Still wasn’t fixed. Then I replaced the fuel injector. Still not working. The mechanic said the oil psi was 30. The vehicle was also burning thru gas and oil quicker than usual. Took it to the dealership and they said it needs a whole new engine and warranty is unsure if they will cover it or not.
What happened: in mid-December 2025, my 2020 Silverado 1500 (VIN: [xxx] ) suffered a catastrophic failure of the def tank assembly (p/n 84914535) at 29,354 miles—less than 30% of its warranted life. This is a latent design defect involving undersized terminal pins that suffer thermal degradation and melt the connector during high-amperage heater operation in arctic conditions (ref: gm TSB 21-na-006). Component availability: the failed assembly is held at the dealership. I have submitted a "part preservation request" to ensure it is available for forensic inspection by federal regulators. Safety risk: the failure triggers an epa-mandated "limp mode," initiating a software-forced reduction in speed. Unexpectedly losing speed on high-speed, icy alaskan highways—where roadside snowbanks prevent safe egress—creates an extreme risk of rear-end collisions. Furthermore, a vehicle restricted to 5 mph or rendered inoperable in temperatures of -30°f to -50°f poses a direct, life-threatening risk of cold-weather exposure in remote areas. Confirmation: failure was confirmed by lithia Chevrolet GMC of fairbanks on Jan 7, 2026. Gds2 diagnostic verified dtcs p20b9, p20c1, p205d, and p204c. Data was reviewed by the gm district manager of aftersales (dma) and gm customer assistance (case #[xxx]). Warning symptoms: check engine lamp and "service emission system" message appeared in mid-Dec 2025, followed by a "speed limited" countdown. The electrical disconnect was abrupt due to terminal pin melting, as documented in my forensic engineering report. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Was crossing an intersection when the truck suddenly and without warning stopped (engine). Unable to shift the truck into neutral in order to move the truck out of the flow of traffic. This is because the truck has the electronic shifter which requires the truck to be running in order to shift. There is not a manual override. So basically the truck was in the middle of an intersection with cars and trucks weaving around it until the tow truck arrived. But since the truck wasn’t able to be shifter into neutral the tow truck had to maneuver around to the front and “drag the truck onto a flat bed in order to clear the vehicle. Also it turns out that there is a major issue with the fuel pump module on these trucks and the tow truck driver said he has seen this happen a lot and very common. As a result these types of issues are likely to result in a near of fatal accident in the near future.
Purchased new and after 3 weeks (about 600 miles) I was on highway between 60-70 mph truck started to shutter like it was losing power and would not accelerate. I complained to the sales person and he stated it ran a little rough when purchased first day - I was told it just needs to warm up. Took truck to dealer and they determined at this time it was a misfire and lifter bank issue. There seems to be an issue widespread - I am not comfortable with car and if on the highway I am not able to accelerate properly or becomes unreliable at the time to accelerate I am worried about safety.
Vehicle was at a stoplight with the auto start button engaged on it. The vehicle completely stalled. All the power is drained from the car. Leaving me stranded in the highway. I got it towed and when replacing the battery still nothing will roll over or even turn on.
This in addition to complaint form number:11699917 I have found the two forms issued by the gm global corp. One is a recall the other a bulletin about the hpfp fuel regulator to be replaced because it was known to fail. The first actual recall (13370 ) states that 25,000 vehicles were involved. The symptoms they stated are all the same that the vehicle I own are having including fuel fumes in the cab and under the hood . In 13370 right at the top it states urgent so this problem is definitely a safety concern for fire or explosion. In 13370a they eliminated a lot of these details including the words urgent and the amount of vehicles that were involved in this recall. And at the bottom of 13370a it also states that the following two paragraphs does not pertain to canada , this is important because my vehicle was born in canada ????. So everything stated above that involves canada manufacturing also. So this means my vehicle should be included in this recall also like I stated in my complaint to this safety commission 11699917 . My vehicle has the 5. 3 , it’s a 1500 silverado and it’s a 2014. Recalls don’t expire for safety as far as I heard. There is no reasonable explanation as to why this vehicle was excluded except it was manufactured in canada and fell through the cracks of their recall . Without a recall they will not look at any bulletin for this safety issue on my vehicle. This is a very expensive repair to be done and gm knows this also.
My vehicle produced a check engine light then it started to be hard to start . Then I started to smell fuel in the cab and strong smell of fuel under the hood . I cannot see the leak so it has to be the hpfp located under the intake manifold and the fuel is being absorbed by the insulation located under the intake. In January 2014 the gm corporation issued a voluntary or bulletin for this year truck and the 5. 3,engine for having installed the wrong fuel regulator in these pumps. Bulletin number 13370a states this exact problem. This vehicle was produced in a canadian plant therefore fell through the cracks in there recall/bulletin . This is a safety problem that I cannot get repaired under warranty or anything. This vehicle is prone to start on fire that’s why they issued the bulletin but since it was canada born they really do not want to help me and say it isn’t on their recall list even though it is the exact problem they list . And since it isn’t on their recall list they won’t even look at the bulletin to see about goodwill warranty either to cover the repair. Why is this vehicle with the same year and same make and same engine excluded , because it’s made in canada it doesn’t make the list of recalls in the gm world.
While driving and idling, my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 high country equipped with the 6. 2l v8 engine began experiencing a persistent audible ticking/clicking noise from the engine bay, rough idle during cold starts, and noticeable/abnormal engine vibration. Shortly after, the check engine light came on. When scanned, diagnostic codes p0304 (cylinder 4 misfire detected) and p050d (cold start rough idle) were retrieved. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership, and the service advisor and technician confirmed hearing a consistent clicking noise and documented that they contacted gm's technical assistance center (tac case #80413912). The service order report states: "due to unknown noise cannot perform recall. Called tac 80413912 and was told need to figure out top end noise and misfire before proceeding with recall. If repairs are related to top end, will not be covered under recall. " the technician indicated this could be related to a camshaft and lifter issue, which matches the symptoms outlined in gm's active propulsion system recall for 6. 2l engines. Suggests gm aware & has not yet confirmed full recall coverage/repairs. This issue presents a significant safety risk because the engine could experience sudden power loss or failure while driving, potentially leading to loss of propulsion or control. These symptoms are identical to those described by gm in their recall documentation concerning valve lifter and camshaft failures. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealership, and all documentation, diagnostics reports, and service notes are available for inspection upon request. Warning/check-engine lights first appeared in October 2025, and the problem persists. Based on gm's recall acknowledgment of similar failures, I believe this defect should be fully covered under the existing recall, and I am requesting NHTSA's review to ensure manufacturer addresses this safety-related defect promptly and without cost to owners.
Truck shut off as I was driving. No warning. On a hill poor visibility gratefully no injury. Required tow truck to dealer. Just received statement replaced fuel control module. Vehicle has 14000 miles cost was covered by warranty but this should not have happened! warranty does does not cover how shaken as I am a senior driver trusting this truck.
On Sunday October 12th, 2025, we were driving in grand rapids,mn when our truck (2002 silverado [xxx] ) suddenly lost power. We were on a main highway without shoulders. The truck would not restart. The truck would not shift out of park to be rolled/pushed off the road. After about an hour, a tow truck arrived and towed the truck to our home ($200). We connected the odb2 code reader and found code p129f. After a bit of research, this code is related to a failed fuel pump control module (gm 13544060). The module is superseded with gm 13554821. We found this fuel control model is the subject of a recall (n252516900) on various gm vehicles that share a similar body design and year to this truck with this exact module. A semi-local dealer had the replacement part (gm 13554821 - $60) and we were able to replace it Monday morning to bring the vehicle back into service. I am requesting the following - expand the recall to include any vehicles with this known-faulty fuel pump control module information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Date of incident: [xxx] approximate time of incident: [xxx] est location of incident (city and state): tallahassee, florida street or highway name: [xxx], lane between [xxx] & [xxx] weather conditions: clear and dry, approximately 90°f while traveling at approximately 72 mph in the center lane of [xxx] westbound near tallahassee, FL, the vehicle suddenly began rapidly decelerating after shuttering, as if the brakes were being applied without driver input. A warning message appeared on the dashboard instructing the driver to restart the engine. At the same time, the steering and brakes became noticeably stiffer, suggesting that the engine had shut down. The driver navigated across high-speed traffic, nearly avoiding being rear-ended by other vehicles, and was able to bring the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder. Multiple attempts to restart the vehicle were unsuccessful. The incident posed a serious safety risk due to the loss of engine power and driving assist features in active interstate traffic. After the incident, the vehicle was towed to dale earnhardt Chevrolet (3127 w tennessee st, tallahassee, FL 32304), where it is scheduled for inspection on or after Monday, September 30, 2025. The dealership may retain the faulty part(s) and the vehicle is available for further inspection upon request. No prior warning lights or symptoms were noticed before the incident occurred. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
