On June 18, 2026, my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5. 3l v8 engine and approximately 41,000 miles suddenly stalled and died while driving in traffic and would not restart. The vehicle had to be towed to a Chevrolet dealership (starling Chevrolet in mt. Pleasant, SC). The service manager ran a diagnostic and identified the fuel pump control module (fpcm) as the likely cause of failure. This appears to be a known and widespread issue affecting newer silverado trucks. The sudden stall while driving with no warning created a dangerous situation in traffic. The vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting repair under the powertrain warranty.

Fuel regulation module k111 part number gm13540028 failed and when this part fails the truck is stuck where it is. The brakes are locked, the truck cannot be started or put in neutral. If the truck stops on the road or freeway you are completely stuck where you are in the middle of traffic. This part fails often and failure leads to a very dangerous situation.

Complete engine failure on the highway, compete engine and power lockup, towed back to dealership where complete engine lockup was confirmed. No prior issues, no other damage contributing to failure. Claims not to be covered under current recall, advising the recall be extended to all 6. 2 19-04 chevy models as I experienced the same engine failure as recall states.

Vehicle would not start while on vacation. Called a tow to take to gm dealer. Turns out the fuel pump control module was bad. Some 2023 with a 5. 3 had recalls. I was told my bin didn’t qualify so gm told me to contact you.
2022 Silverado 1500 ltz w/6. 2l 38082 total miles. First engine replacement due to seizure at approx. 17,782 miles around June/2025, the vehicle lost all propulsion and stopped running while sitting at a stop sign at a four way intersection during a really bad thunderstorm, luckily the intersection was on a declining hill and I was able to coast it into nearby parking lot . I'm a senior citizen with a replaced hip and couldn't have gotten it out the roadway otherwise. Contacted gm through the app. To arrange service and tow. The tow couldn't be completed by the assigned wrecker service because it was busy with other tows because of the severe storms. The following afternoon, it was towed to the local dealership for service. It took approx. A week before I was finally informed that the engine seized with explanation. . Repair took just over 3 months to complete under warranty/recall at dealership, didn't get vehicle back until the beginning of September 2025. Engine replacement inspection passed by GMC on the recall inspection at local dealership. Oil changed from factory 0w-20 to 0w-40 around January or February 2026 if I'm not mistaken. Driving down the highway on 06/03/2026 and all the sudden loss of propulsion. Zero warning! lucky I was able to coast onto an exit ramp without getting in an accident with hwy. Traffic! luckily I was able to find a church parking lot and asked a person that I knew to give me a ride home. Because it was after business hours, I waited till the local dealership opened the next morning and spoke with service personnel and they arranged a tow to take it to the dealership. As of the end of the business day 06/05/26 I have no word from dealership on the status of vehicle, but the vehicle experienced the same symptoms, a sudden total loss of power and no start, just a single click and no electrics. I feel that the inspection testing and oil change does not address and/or fix the root cause of these engine failures.
I was travelling on the highway at approximately 72 miles an hour in the left lane trying to pass a vehicle in the right lane. While accelerating my truck was like the brakes were slammed on and all kinds of lights starting flashing. This included the check engine light, low oil pressure light and lane assist lights. The truck shifted into neutral and I could not place back into drive. I swerved and almost lost control of the vehicle and nearly missed colliding with the safety rails on the left of the road and then with the car on the right side. I then pulled onto the shoulder after nearly being rear ended by another vehicle approaching on the left. The vehicle would not react to the gas pedal. I pulled onto the shoulder and turned the vehicle off. Tried to restart but again nothing but mutliple lights and warnings. I checked my app for Chevrolet and it stated that the vehicle needed engine and transmission system service. Variable valve timing system needs serviced. Ingition system needed serviced. The onstar diagnostic alert indicated p0016 was detected. I opened the hood to inspect and the coolant overflow was spewing coolant. I checked the oil level at that point and it was just a little below full. I had taken this vehicle into the dealership two other times stating that the vehicle had stalled before on the highway but not to this degree. The other two times it stalled when accelerating it would allow me to pull over and restart. But both of those times I never had any flashing lights or diagnostic codes. I explained this to the dealership and how unsafe it was. Both of those times almost ended in a vehicle accident with other vehicles around me. The dealership said they could not diagnose any issues unless the truck created a diagnostic code. These issues have been ongoing with these vehicles for a long time and the dealership just did not want to deal with them. I had the vehicle go thru the recall diagnostic tests. It did not fix them.
While driving, the vehicle suddenly displayed “service esc” and “service traction control” warnings. Shortly after, the engine stalled and the vehicle became difficult to restart. Vehicle experienced rough running/misfires and loss of power. Diagnostic trouble codes retrieved included p0300, p0106, p3498, p00ff, and u1962. The issue appears intermittent but creates a serious safety concern due to unexpected stalling while driving. Concerned about possible electrical, engine management, or stability control system failure affecting safe operation of the vehicle. No prior warning before incident.
On may 17th, my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (mileage: 38,628) suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure resulting in an immediate and total loss of motive power while traveling at highway speeds on I-465. Diagnostic testing confirmed dtc p129f, identifying a failure of the fuel pump driver control module. The failure occurred while positioned in the fifth lane of a six-lane interstate. This was not a gradual loss of performance; it was an instantaneous shutdown that left the vehicle without engine power or standard steering/braking assistance in high-density, high-speed traffic. This defect placed all six passengers in immediate and imminent peril. To reach the shoulder, we were forced to navigate a dead vehicle across four lanes of active traffic, resulting in multiple near-miss collisions. The danger continued as we were stranded on the narrow shoulder of a major interstate. For our own safety, five passengers had to evacuate the vehicle on foot, crossing a busy two-lane exit ramp to reach a location where an uber could safely retrieve them. I remained with the vehicle until it could be towed to leo Chevrolet. General motors is clearly aware of this defect, as evidenced by recall bulletin #n252516900.
Wife was shopping with our kids. Stated she smelled gas and it continued to get stronger smelling as she drove. Noticed the mile to empty graph was going down really fast. I had her pull over at a safe location and look underneath the truck for anything out of the ordinary. Found gas running out of the engine bay dripping on the hit exhaust and atomiziing. I had her shut the truck off immediately and get herself and kids clear of the truck immediately. Had the vehicle towed to the dealership to have inspection and repairs. No warning lights came on. Dealership says faulty high pressure fuel pump. Caused by wet weather the dealership said it was road tested but it had the same milage as when the vehicle was brought in for the service. Wife picked up the truck from chevy dealership with a very strong oder of gas still in the truck. I'm wife and kids use that vehicle daily. Very concerned.
The defective manufacturer lifters on my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 went on my truck damaging the lifters, camshaft, oil pump and I'm sure more than that. I know it's an ongoing investigation/lawsuit with general motors, but they need to held accountable and should fix this issue free of charge. Not everyone has $5k-$10k+ to repair their engine due to their negligence. Thank you.

I was driving with trailer attacked coming from [xxx] , in the middle of the overseas highway (a two lane steet) the truck loss power and stalled and would not start. I was only able to move slightly to the side, with half the trailer with boat still sitting in the road. My family was on board and I am alive and an accident didn't happen. I called a tow truck (took an hour to get to me) and charged me $520 for the tow. The tow truck driver said that he had to tow several Chevrolet trucks with the same issue and it was a faulty fuel module. I had a mechanic run a diagnostic and the code p129f commonly indicates a failure of the fuel pump driver control module (fpdm) was the one coming out. I have read many customer experiencing the same issue. And in my case my trucks 3 year warranty expired November 2025 only 6 months ago. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Lifter failure at 50,100 miles- just out of powertrain warrant by 136 days. Failure occured on freeway. After hearing metallic sound service brake system light, traction control and service engine light came on. This occured 5/3/26.

The engine in my 2015 chevy siverado 1500 5. 3 afm lost propulsion, began to shudder and stall on the highhway as I was pulling out of my hometown. Speed limit 60 mph. I returned home and the flashing engine light came on before I could get home. Sputtering I pulled into the drive but was concerned about mine and my passengers safety as I turned around on the highway and headed back home! this is the second time my lifters failed, as diagnosed by the repair shop currently diagnosing the issue.

While driving at highway speed with cruise control engaged, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of propulsion. The engine began jerking and the vehicle rapidly decelerated from highway speed (50 mph) to 10–15 mph. The transmission appeared to disengage or shift to neutral around 10 mph, and the vehicle was unable to maintain speed, creating a hazardous situation in traffic. The vehicle then shut down and displayed a message to restart the engine along with a check engine light. When attempting to restart, the engine would not turn over properly and produced a loud clicking/struggling noise, similar to a failed or seized engine. The vehicle was towed and is currently awaiting diagnosis at a dealership. This failure occurred without warning and created a serious safety risk due to sudden loss of power while driving.
Vehicle developed engine ticking/tapping noise followed by rough running and misfire condition. Independent repair facility performed engine teardown and found cylinder 4 exhaust camshaft lobe severely worn/damaged. Repair facility stated the exhaust roller follower/lifter needle bearings failed and fell out, causing the roller to seize and come off position, resulting in improper valve operation and cylinder malfunction. Vehicle lost proper engine performance and required major internal engine repair including camshaft, lifters/lash adjusters, and roller followers. Failure appears consistent with gm preliminary information bulletin pip5847b for 2019–2024 Chevrolet silverado/GMC sierra 2. 7l l3b engines describing exhaust roller follower bearing failure and camshaft damage. Concern is that sudden valvetrain failure could result in loss of power, engine failure, or unsafe driving condition.
I was traveling home one night and the truck shut off while driving and lost all power, loosing all steering, braking power aswell as all my lights while traveling down the road in the dark. . When I went to start it again all I would get was a cranking noise but no firing. After 30 minutes of waiting the truck started again. In which I drove it 3 more miles before it shut down again. After that it would not crank nor start. I then had the vehicle towed to my local Chevrolet dealer, and they had notified me that the engine had failed and locked up. In the process it had also taken out the fpcm (fuel pump control module) aswell as the high pressure fuel pump located on top of the motor. Causing me to have a new motor from gm installed. I had no previous problems or lights before this had happened.

I was driving in a 70mph zone and lost all propulsion. Vehicle said to shift to neutral to start. Pulled to the side of the highway and it would not crank. Had to have the vehicle towed.
Summary of incident: on March 28, 2026, while traveling at 70 mph on the florida turnpike, the vehicle suffered an instantaneous loss of motive power. The engine died abruptly with no warning. Upon reaching the shoulder, the electronic transmission locked, refusing to shift into neutral or park. The engine cranks but will not start. 1. Component failure & availability: the exact component is currently unknown, but the failure involves the powertrain, fuel system, and electronic transmission control. The vehicle is currently at an authorized dealership and is available for inspection by the manufacturer or NHTSA upon request. 2. Safety risk: the sudden loss of power at highway speeds created an immediate risk of a rear-end collision. Because the electronic transmission locked and would not allow the vehicle to be shifted into neutral, it became a fixed object on a high-speed shoulder. It could not be pushed to a safer location, increasing the risk of a secondary accident. 3. Problem reproduction: the vehicle was towed directly to an authorized Chevrolet dealership. As of this filing, the dealership is in possession of the vehicle, but the failure has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a technician as they are awaiting formal diagnostic commencement. 4. Inspections: the vehicle was inspected by a roadside towing professional for transport. It is currently at the manufacturer’s authorized service center awaiting a formal diagnostic inspection. No police or insurance inspections have occurred. 5. Warning symptoms: there were no warning lamps, "check engine" lights, or messages prior to the failure. No symptoms like rough idling or unusual noises occurred. The vehicle performed normally until the moment of total power loss.
I'm reporting a 5mpg fuel economy reduction immediately following the 6. 2l l87 engine recall (NHTSA #24v795000). I use 93 octane and monitor my fuel mileage consistently. I bragged about my fuel economy in my 6. 2l until after the recall was applied. This is going to cause a financial hardship as I'm on fixed income after servicing 29 years in the army and 100% disabled. There is no other reason my mpg should have changed as my driving habits have not.
1. The fuel pump power control module on my 2022 chevy silverado failed. It was 38 months old and had 14,970 miles on it. I purchased it only 2 months ago. I believe the specific part number was 13554060. It was replaced with part number 13554821. The dealer retained--or more likely, disposed of--the old part. The cost of the repair was $762. 87. 2. I was driving on rt. Us 20 in toledo, ohio. My truck experienced a sudden loss of power without warning. The vehicle stalled and would not restart. I had to call a tow truck. The truck was towed to ballas Buick, where the part was replaced. 3. There was a voluntary recall of other vehicles that utilize this same part, so the manufacturer should be aware of the flaw in this component. The recall number is n252516900. 4. No warning light came on before the vehicle stalled, stranding me on the road. I had just enough of a sense of the impending failure to pull to the side of the road.
Vehicle shut off while driving. Dash codes said low fuel and low voltage. Tank was full and driven twice that same day for a combined 20 miles. No wrongs of failure.
I’d like to report a serious, ongoing safety concern with my 2019 Chevrolet silverado (5. 3 v8 53,028 mi) since Dec 2025. Over the last 4 months, I have experienced at least 20 engine failures/loss of power, with no engine light illuminated after restarting truck. These failures result in a complete loss of power, including steering and braking, posing a significant risk of a crash. Chevy said it would be hard to diagnose with no engine warning light on. Feb 24th, engine failure, warning light stayed on and towed truck to chevy. Truck on standby, repaired Mar 10th, replacing 2 oxygen sensors per diagnostics. Picked it up on March 11th, but engine shutdown again the same day and 4 additional failures while driving in my neighborhood, making the truck undrivable. I reached out to chevy service supervisor, juliana, but have received no response for the last 10 days. I urge NHTSA to investigate this defect as it poses a severe safety risk. Thank you for your urgent attention.
Year: 2022 make: Chevrolet model: Silverado 1500 engine: 2. 7l turbomax (l3b) VIN: [xxx] mileage at failure: 119,139 description of problem: 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2. 7l l3b turbomax engine is completely inoperable due to cylinder 4 exhaust roller follower failure causing exhaust camshaft failure and bent exhaust valves. Vehicle shakes severely, will not accelerate, check engine light on, and has gone into limp mode. Diagnostic codes p0304 (cylinder 4 misfire) and p2101 (electronic throttle actuator fault triggered by engine shaking and limp mode) were recorded. All external components including spark plugs, coils, and injector harnesses were inspected and ruled out as causes. Failure is confirmed mechanical and internal. This failure was diagnosed and documented in writing by an authorized Chevrolet dealership on March 12, 2026 (repair order xxx, service advisor [xxx] ). The dealer's written estimate states verbatim: "failed cylinder 4 exhaust roller follower failure causing exhaust camshaft failure and bent exhaust valves. Cylinder head replacement required to correct this concern. Direct cause of engine noise and misfire condition. " dealer repair quote: $10,371. 34. A second independent shop confirmed the same failure and cited active fuel management (afm) and direct fuel injection (dfi) as known contributing design factors in this engine's oil consumption and internal wear pattern. That shop quoted between $11,876. 88 and $14,897. 35. This is a known pattern in the l3b engine platform. Consumer reports has documented a 4% catastrophic failure rate in this engine. Multiple NHTSA complaints exist for this same failure across 2019-2022 model years. Gm has issued technical service bulletins but has not issued a recall. General motors was formally notified of this failure via certified mail and executive email on March 24, 2026. Vehicle is inoperable and poses a safety risk as the failure causes sudden loss of power and engine shaking w information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foi.

2022 Silverado 1500 6. 2l total engine failure, replacement needed.
My entire engine and the right bank lifters failed. Thankfully, these issues didn't fail until my truck was parked in my garage. No warning lamps did not trigger until these issues started. There was no warning. I have been having engine issues with this truck dating back to 2022. I will include all documents showing the issues I've had in the past 3 years. I was informed by the dealer that this is a known issue with this year and model of truck and even they were surprised that gm hasn't issued a recall. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership only.
Loss of engine propulsion while traveling down a highway towing a #5000 trailer at 65 mph. Less than five miles before the failure the vehicle experienced a momentary downshift of the transmission such as you would experience while climbing a hill or extreme headwind. No warning lights were present at that time or at any time prior to engine shutdown. Upon failure panel indicated "press engine start" and transmission indicated "park" though we were rolling/coasting at over 60 mph. Realizing that we had lost propulsion I guided the vehicle to the shoulder and stopped. Solid check engine light on at this time. Depressing the "start" button while stopped would not start or crank over the engine. Boost box would not crank engine, slight noise from starter as if unable to turn engine over. Called tow truck, seewald's towing in st. Ignace, mi. Towed to nearest Chevrolet dealer wheeler motors cheboygan, mi.
Fuel tank and def tank issues that throws error codes that will make your engine go into slump mode.
I have had my vehicle to a gm dealership three times now due to the check engine light coming on and getting an emission warning. 2/13/26 was the first visit. It was right after I filled up my tank with gas that the check engine light came on when I started driving down the road. I got an appointment at a gm dealership. They put the scanner on it and received the codes. They drove it back to the service garage and I went back to work. I received information from them that they could not fix anything because the check engine light had disappeared and there were no codes available anymore. I picked up my vehicle and a week later 2/20/26 the same thing happened after I got gas. The check engine light came on and an emission warning on my chevy app. I stopped back into the same dealership. And the same thing happened. Scanner, codes, and then they disappeared. The third time I got gas the same thing happened again with the check engine light and emission system warning. This was on 2/28/2026. I went to a different dealership and the exact same thing happened. . . . . Scanner, codes received, schedule an appointment to get it in the following week, started the vehicle and pulled out. The check engine light was still on at that time. And the check engine light disappeared once again as I was driving down the road. Each time this has happened I have been able to use my remote start via my chevy app along with trying to use my handheld key fob remote start. The dealerships have told me this is normal for this type of check engine light emission warning. When researching this issue there are a lot of people experiencing the same thing. Scratching my head wondering why there's not a recall on this.

Loud chatter/rattle noise under acceleration and idle loss of power with no engine lights on dash metallic shards in oil.
The oil cooler lines cracked due to cold weather and oil spouted out of the engine. Truck was immediately pulled over when the chime went off, however the engine still seized up and needs to be replaced. No warning lights before, just the chime at 0 oil pressure. I see that canada and alaska has this part recalled and I want to know why it’s not recalled everywhere. No oil was leaking prior to this incident. This left us stranded on the side of the highway and we now have to purchase a new engine with only 65,000 miles on it.
The def tank failed making the exhaust system malfunction. This puts the vehicle in limp mode.
I just bought this truck off a used car lot certified dealer and I noticed the engine light on then the truck would hesitate to start and I know the battery is dying so I looked it up and I got a recall on 2021 chevy silverado just like mine just wondering why mine is not under recall or why won’t mine get fixed but everybody else is the same year in the same problems can get fixed. I think mine should be fixed.
Prior to this incident, I had been having issues with my fuel management system give a “reduced acceleration” warning (codes p0087, p228b) in weather below 28-30f. It was in the shop 3 times prior: first time was “bad fuel”, second had my fuel rail and fuel filter replaced, and third time I had my high pressure fuel pump replaced (also had a rear crank seal leak). While approaching a stop sign, my vehicle gave me a check engine light with a “reduced acceleration” warning followed by several other warning messages and then ultimately lost power and shut off give me no ability to steer or brake my vehicle. Luckily, my vehicle came to stop and no crash or injuries occurred. If this had been at higher speeds the outcome could have been fatal to myself or another driver/passenger on the road. This incident also gave me a p0087, p12a6, p228a, and p228b error codes. I was able to restart the vehicle and make it home. The following day, the “reduced acceleration” message once again appeared. The vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting diagnosis and repair.
