No updates have been made to fix recall. Status has been pending for a long and it’s preventing me from selling the car due to fear of breaking down.

On Tuesday we pulled out into traffic and the truck shuddered and I heard a pop. The air conditioner went out and then a plethora of warnings along with the service engine light popped up on the dash. The brakes stopped working and the truck went into a low idle almost causing the vehicle behind us to rear end us. Error messages were as follows: brake failure do not go above 62mph, trailer brake failure, steering column needs serviced, service ecs and several others. I was able to get the vehicle back home and called for service at green chevy in peoria, IL I was able to shut the vehicle off and restart it and all error codes were gone. I spoke with the dealer and took it to them. They advised it was a module issue and would reprogram it. It took 2 days and my vehicle is back.

Excessive fuel smell at vehicle. Fire hazard in enclosed garage area. Found top of fuel sending unit rusted out and leaking fuel.

Def system will count miles down saying it is going to put you into limp mode while towing, when there is 3/4 plus def fluid in the tank. This caused me several times speed slow downs under 65 to try to make it to a safe place to add under 2 gallons to fill a 5 plus gallon tank on 70 to 80 mph highways a few times at dusk and night with limited off off travel lane access! this is telling you it will put your vehicle in limp mode! again causing a dangerous situation! I very much feared for my well-being along a dark road with cars going 70 plus while I was trying to add def to a 3/4 full tank only taking around 2 gallons!!.

July, 10 2025 my 2021 chevy silverado has stalled today in the middle of the road. When trying to start, it sounds like if it wants to turn over but it won’t. I bought a brand new battery and problem is not resolved. I did some digging and sounds like fuel pump will not come on. This truck is only 4 years old and I should be having these issues. Please help thanks.

I went to drive my truck and it would start but I got a “ service power steering no assist “, service rear vision camera, service trailer brake system. Then it wouldn’t start and got the “ lost communication with fuel pump control module, back up camera was flashing in and out and license plate lights would flash with turn signal on.

TSB pip5776. 87000 miles failed. Dealer quote ($9,000) to repair lifter and bent camshaft. Gm said they aren't helping and my next step is get a attorney. Mention 10% “goodwill” offer and lifter collapse + bent cam.

While driving down the road I let off the accelerator to start applying brakes for a red light I was approaching, then the vehicle shut completely off and down shifted hard. After that it restarted a second later but had no power steering and no brakes. At this point I was approaching the red light with no brakes and power of my vehicle, the other traffic had a green light now and was crossing my lane of travel but I was luckily able to make it through the light in between vehicles without causing any harm to myself or others. After making it through the light I was rolling 10mph still helpless but seen a gas station on my right and rolled into their parking lot and drove towards a curb and used the curb to stop my vehicle. The vehicle had the following warning lights and messages: lane change alert system off, brake system failure 62mph top speed, service traction control, service esc, and trailer brakes disabled service required. I then got the vehicle towed to the dealership while still on and in the running position with all the codes still active. The dealer was able to scan the truck in and see the codes but told me they wouldn’t be able to get to it till the following week so they parked the vehicle and turned it off. When they got to my vehicle the following week they sent me a text and said I quote “hey ****** its **** from chevy, I do not have the best news lol he can not get it to act up and there are no current codes he has driven and nothing has happened, as of now there is nothing further he can do”. After receiving that text I called them to just be told they can’t get it to do it again and there is nothing they can do. But I told them I refuse to pick up this vehicle because it had a critical safety issue. This vehicle suffered a catastrophic failure, brakes and steering were lost in an intersection. If not diagnosed properly, this poses a threat to life.

I was driving on the freeway and smelled gasoline in the cab. I thought nothing of it as I was near a wreck and thought it was from that. About 10 miles down the road I was stopped in traffic and noticed my miles until empty was slowly declining as I was stopped. When I moved forward there was a puddle under my truck. I pulled to the side of the road and fuel was draining from the back of my engine all over the exhaust. I immediately shut the truck off. I cannot believe the gas didn't ignite as those catalytic converters get well over 536°. The truck was towed to the closest Chevrolet dealer over 10 days ago and I have yet to hear anything from them. I bought the truck used from another Chevrolet dealer 3 weeks prior, and it has had the l87 recall.

2015 5. 3 with afm related failure / lifter collapse still within warranty by mileage (5 yrs, 100,000 miles I think), out by years in service, was diagnosed by a gm authorized dealership by a gm master certified technician and under the supervision of service manager. Issue description on 6/18/2025, the dealership diagnosed a failure in the #7 lifter due to afm / afm related failure / lifter collapse. The vehicle’s engine, diagnosed at approximately 58,000 miles and minimal idle hours. While the gm master technician is confident that only one side of lifters require immediate replacement, there is a possibility of damage to the camshaft lobe, which cannot be inspected without significant additional labor. There is also a concern about potential metal contamination in the oil, which could further impact the engine’s performance. I also have many documented repair orders indicating my concern with the transmissions performance.

Check engine light is on, code reads emissions fail due to the evaporative emissions leak detection pump. ( evap purge pump underspeed) p1467. I see this was a recall on several Chevrolet vehicles but not yet on mine.

Engine was making noise and ultimately stopped responding when I would push the gas, leaving me stranded on the side of the road. Luckily, I was able to get the vehicle off the road in time to not cause an accident. The vehicle could have stalled and seized up in the middle of the highway. This problem has been confirmed by the dealer in the attached work order invoices. It has not been inspected by anyone other than the mountain Chevrolet dealership, to my knowledge. The dealership has the vehicle running again, but is not able to confirm if the 'new' engine in my vehicle is the one address the recall issue, reference number n252494000. Additionally, this vehicle broke down again two months later for a related issue per the additional service invoice attached. For all of these, gm has not been willing to pay for the full value of the rentals for each service, totaling over 60 days without my vehicle. I've requested this through the gm customer care to no avail. I would also like to receive confirmation that the 'repaired' engine in my vehicle resolves this open recall concern. I've been stranded on the side of the road twice now with this newer vehicle and would love some assurance from them. At a minimum I want gm to pay for the full value of the rental cars. For the record, I also requested gm buy-back the vehicle which they have rejected my request. Any help you can provide is appreciated. Thank you.

I am writing because we received a 2nd recall letter about our 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 zr2. It has the recall for the catastrophic engine failure and neither gm or Chevrolet seem interested in helping us. The Chevrolet representative from the bbb said yesterday that we did not qualify for any thing, no buy back and no financial compensation. She has been the only person who did not try to straight up lie about the engine just dead stopping. We had that issue on [xxx], while on the way to hickory, nc for a doctors appointment for my husband. He is a [xxx]. He served in iraq and afghanistan. [xxx]. He has to maintain a strict schedule, every thing done at the same time every day. Meals, showers, chores, bedtime etc. It calms him. I didn’t want him to buy a chevy truck, but he fell instantly in love with it. He added a bed cover, 3in lift kit, tinted windows, 20in wheels and tires. A chip that opens up the horsepower and a cold air intake. He bought the truck new in July 2023, from pioneer chevy in abingdon va. So we are moving right along until 17 miles from morganton nc when the truck just stopped. We were on the back mountain road so no one was behind us. My husband was able to get the truck in neutral and roll it to a place where we could get off the road. We waited about 2 hours for a tow to everett Chevrolet. They would not let us have a loaner car so the tow driver took us to enterprise & waited to make sure we got a car. So none of this keeps him on his schedule. We went back to the chevy place where the service manager said it would be the next day before he could look at the truck. He did tell us that the truck had the engine failure recall. We had no idea until then. Thankfully the doctor held a place for us, our appointment was at 11:45am but we didn’t get there till around 3:00. We saw the doctor, got food & headed home to TN. And I started contacting anyone information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

P146b (evap purge pump system performance) engine code started occurring around 50,000 miles. This is similar to the recall for 2019-2020 chevy silverado, Cadillac xt4, and GMC sierra 1500 covered by n202324990.

Engine started making clicking noise when accelerating. Followed by a large screeching noise. Dash read "shift to neutral and start again" pulled to stop and tried to start. Does not crank at all.

Failure of the coolant flow control valve and def component. Caused the engine to overheat and potentially fail while driving. The part to repair this problem has been very difficult to obtain causing a prolonged period of time in a repair shop. According to online forum information this an ongoing problem with this particular engine for over 4 years now. In my general area there are 6 vehicles that are in need of this particular part before they can be repaired. This is definitely not an isolated incident.

Transmission started shifting weard contacted dealership. They state this unit is not under recall but it is an 6l80 and it is all over you tube and the internet about failures that start with the pm valve and/or the torque converter housing that is stamped but mounting brackets are welded to it causing harded steel to meet stamped steel causing friction and wear that polutes the remainder of the transmission and causes failure before 100000 miles; usually just after 50000ish. When transmission fails it can cause loss of propulsion or collion.

While exiting the highway from 70mph my truck quit running on the exit ramp as I approached the end of the ramp. The truck would not restart and blocked traffic until I was able to get a tow truck. After the truck was towed back to my home I was able to scan the truck and found p129f code reporting (fuel pump driver control module fuel pump speed signal incorrect) (see attached report). Only after purchasing a fuel pump driver control module from the dealer (p/n) 13565641 (replacement for the original 13531875 p/n) and installing it would the truck start. This was a real safety concern as other driver were also exiting the highway at speed while my truck was blocking a lane. The fuel pump control modules should be designed in "fail safe" way to allow the fuel pump to continue even if it isn't running at the most optimal level.

High pressure fuel pump going bad and causes loss of power which is making my brake booster not getting enough vacuum causing me to loose braking. Common issue in these trucks and gm knows it.

In light of the recalls for other silverado fuel pumps, I believe an investigation should be initiated for vehicles like mine that are part of the same manufacturer but were not part of the original recall. Right when this recall was announced my silverado which is in excellent condition and has only 73,000 miles on it has a failing fuel pump, communicated by a check engine light and coded for the fuel pump failure. According to my dealer the cost to replace is almost 2,000 dollars. A fuel pump in a heavy duty truck should not fail after only 73000 miles.

Vehicle high pressure mechanical fuel pump failed during operation at high speeds, immediate loss of power and throttle response; dealer claimed it was a common problem. Refused to cover under warranty.

Making a ticking noise on the engine.

The engine light is blinking while driving on the highway, it comes and goes, I have a video for that. Also it has a ticking noise and I’ve had the noise since I bought the truck and took it multiple times to the dealership, first it was the pump they replaced for free but the ticking never went away, I took it back and they said that all the trucks tick like that, and all that should be documented. Also while sitting still it sounds like the truck is shacking just a little. I have an appointment to which I have to pay $250 for them just to look at it. I think that my truck should be up under the new recall for the 2021 chevy silverado because my truck is knocking and also throwing off a blinking engine light.

On April 29, 2025 we took our truck in for these 3 recalls serial data gateway module • n242435631 -fuel injector flow rate• n242450630 - park assist retrofit - exp 05/31/27• n222375790. We picked the truck up and had no issues. Then on November 28, 2025 our fuel injector 2 went out. According to articles we have found the recall for the fuel injector flow rate specifically addresses the ecm not controlling fuel injector flow rates and because it was not doing this correctly it put added stress on the fuel injector #2. We took the vehicle to ken garf Chevrolet american fork utah and they diagnosed the issue as the fuel injector 2 being bad. They quoted us with parts 2000 dollars to fix it. After researching this recall information we took the vehicle to sky Chevrolet in provo utah where we got the vehicle and where it was serviced in April and asked them to look into the fix. They are telling us that they cannot find any correlation between the fuel injector flow rate and the fuel injector 2 going out so they are wanting $600 dollars to fix the fuel injector flow rate. The next thing since the n242435631 update was performed, the automated clock on longer syncs. This is a known side effect of the gateway module update. We were again told that they could find no correlation between the clock and the recall. When doing research we found that that the 2 are very much connected. I would also like to complain about ken garf and how they "diagnosed" an issue we told them was already there. I would like to refunded the 200 dollars for the diagnostic fee.

I was going 70 in the fast lane on the interstate near birmingham, al; when my 2024 silverado lost propulsion, electrical and power steering. I was forced to move 3 lanes over to the emergency lane or wreck off to the left. When it lost propulsion I lost turn signals and power steering. They are going to attempt to fix it, but engines are on backorder. Regardless if it is fixed, the thing almost killed me. There's no way I'm going to be driving that thing. This issue was confirmed at the dealership and no warning lights came up on the screen prior to losing propulsion.

While merging onto the fast lane of the highway I experienced a "press push start to restart" alarm and total loss of power as I went to accelerate and merge with traffic. It was almost like the truck was in neutral but pedal would not even increase the rmp. There was no shoulder and I was forced to stop and restart my vehicle between the onramp and the fast lane. Im fortunate to not have ended up in a bad rear end accident. It did the same a half mile later where atleast I had a shoulder to pull off onto this time. Check engine light threw up a camshaft position sensor fault.

Gm is not handle this recall in a timely manner. They are refusing to inspect vehicle to see of there are any defects. This is concerning, as based on the recall notice, the engine may fail at anytime. This could cause a crash or leave me or my wife stranded on some road. My dealer would do the inspection but to do the inspection but they said they are not allowed until I have gotten "permission" from gm. This is a safety concern for me and my family and gm is not handling this appropriately. An immediate inspection should be done ensuring if the vehicle is safe to drive.

Issues with def system. Fuel and def tank is filled up. Within 100 miles of towing the def system states def is empty and speed will be limited within 500 miles. At the time the message appears on screen, fuel mileage goes from 13ish mpg to 8 mpg. Try to add def and only able to add close to a gallon of def. System has a hard time recalculating the amount of def in system.

Vehicle has been at dealership multiple times for the same issues and the cant figure it out. Constantly p303 codes. On highway doing 65-70 and truck starts to shutter and drop speed swerving down to about 40mph on highway in traffic. Have to pull to shoulder and restart vehicle.

My husband was driving our family truck onto the highway to merge into traffic, when he lost all engine power, several dash lights turned on, and a clanking noise started. This was an extremely dangerous situation because the truck stalled, while trying speed up into highway traffic. He swerved to avoid cars and pulled off to the right shoulder. This a major safety issue because if either of my teenage daughters had been driving the truck, they would likely not have been able to avoid an accident! mechanics confirmed the truck had suffered a catastrophic engine failure while driving. The dealership confirmed a lifter failed causing the damage. They said the whole engine had to be replaced. Gm offered to pay half of cost, proving they know this is an issue. The truck's not even 5 years old, so the fact that engine would just stop while driving, when we had kept up with regular maintenance, sounded bizarre to me. I researched online and learned of 2 class action lawsuits (CA & mi) claiming gm knows about this defect in their engine and continuing to sell trucks with the same safety issue. Not more than 2 weeks after our incident, hundreds of thousands of the 6. 3l engines were recalled after a NHTSA investigatio. Gm has issued several service bulletins internally on "failing lifters", but has not told the public of the safety hazard. The service bulletins acknowledge the issue, recommending gm mechanics use a lighter oil (sae-0w20 instead of the customary sae-0w40) or change the oil more frequently. (service update n212353840). But car owners don't know this! gm is putting lives at risk, as no one expects their engine to completely give out while on the highway. Thankfully, my husband has been driving for 35 years. Had it been a younger, more inexperienced driver, they would not have been able to recover from the engine failure, especially while merging into high speed traffic - causing a crash, injuries and possibly death. The public deserves to know.

Vehicle does not indicate proper def level. Vehicle has stated several times that it is out of def but is not. The most recent time the vehicle was at a dealer and was noted as normal operation. Driving up to going the dealer: vehicle displayed message “def empty refill now vehicle speed restricted to 65mph”with a 500 mile count down. Vehicle was driven 489 miles of the 500 miles. Vehicle was taken to a dealer. Dealer confirmed that vehicle was not out of def, vehicle was at 40% def capacity (~2 gallons of fluid in a 5 gallon tank). Dealer noted that this was normal operation. This is not safe, the def system isn’t accurately reporting level. In other situations it hasn’t recognize def fills. This can potentially lead to the vehicle severely restricting speed or not allowing the motor to restart creating unsafe conditions for the passengers and other vehicles on the road way. Vehicle was under warranty at the time of the issues. Vehicle is currently just under 37,000 miles.

The symptoms since the beginning of 2024 have been that when braking between 7 and 10 mph, you feel a bump or a skid, and when you stop, the engine shakes for a moment as if it's going to shut off. This happens with the auto stop-start off. A sudden braking moment can affect the vehicle's performance, making it difficult to control and increasing the risk of accidents, especially when it comes to a pickup truck that may have a trailer with cargo or objects in the bed that can be thrown. The trailer can even leave the road, losing control of the car. In 2024, I took the truck to the place where I bought it, bomnin Chevrolet dadeland, for a checkup. I explained all the symptoms to my advisor, just as I do here. I had to take it to wait for a loaner. A few days later, I took it back, and they had it for almost a week. When I picked it up, my advisor told me everything was fine. When I left the dealership, I found the same symptoms, so I went back and told him the car was still doing the same thing, and he told me it was normal. After much insistence, he got in the car with me to show him the problem, and the car did it several times, but according to him, it was normal. Now, in 2025, a week ago I took it to miami lakes auto mall to get checked out with the same symptoms and explanation. I started investigating why that couldn't possibly be normal car operation. They found they had to replace the torque converter and valve body because they found an excessive amount of metal in the transmission. The valve body is on back order indefinitely at all dealerships, so I had to take the car in that condition. Before taking it, I spoke with the manager and gm to ask them to give me a car until they fixed mine because it wasn't right for me to drive the car like that. But they didn't offer me anything. I took it back to bomnin Chevrolet dadeland and they told me they were going to change the transmission and torque converter and conveniently they didn't have to change the valve.
