I purchased this car on 7/15/24 and had no problems until 8/8/24 after I took my car through an automatic touchless car wash. Upon exiting the car wash, I noticed that the tailgate was now down even though I never unlocked it. I parked the car and closed the tailgate and began driving home. Halfway home, the tailgate opened again on its on. The bed was empty so I continued driving home and then closed it again. Later that night, I went out to take the garbage cans out to the street and again noticed the tailgate was down. I again closed it. The next morning, I went to go to work and the tailgate was again down. This would be a serious safety issue if I had items in the bed of my truck and the tailgate opened while driving. I searched this issue online and found that there are recalls for this exact issue in other trims of this truck but the recalls don't cover my trim. I took it to the dealer where I purchased it and they are looking into fixing it. I want you to know that this is an issue as well for this trim.
I have a flex tail gate which is all electronic. The tailgate will not stay up , it keeps on falling and unlocking for no reason. Button the tailgate lever does not work. Took it in to the dealership in July and they had to order the part. It is almost Dec and still not hear. The tailgate fell in my garage and I did not know it when I put the door up it scratched my tail gate. I was driving down the road before this issue and my tailgate fell and I had all my work supplies in the back. Somebody honked the horn and told me. If they didn't this would have been a major accident with all my supplies falling out of the back. This is a major safety issue. . I have read about it on the chevy website and they said they had a problem with the switch on the chevy flex gate from 2019-2022. They said they fixed the problem for 2023.
The frame has rusted out and is unsafe to drive. Left tire is almost snapped and you can put your hand through the rust in frame. Has been inspected by 2 mechanics. I am the second owner and have babied this truck since the first day I got it in 2014. Additional defect is the tailgate wont state shut, must close 3-4 times for it to remain closed.

Paint is peeling and flaking in multiple spots on my truck. Gm will not do anything about it because it's after 3 yr or 36000 miles. This is a very popular problem with this year of chevy trucks. It's all over vehicle websites. It's a bad patch of paint or primer issue. Gm told me it's maintenance after the paint warranty is up. The spots are inside my tailgate and next the windshield. Two spots where it is almost impossible for chips to happen from driving. This is a gm problem! this should be a recall. I'm sure they know there is a major problem. They need to fix it. They are losing chevy customers.

The truck was parked in my home driveway Monday afternoon. It was locked. On Wednesday 2/24/21 our neighbor alerted my wife that there was smoke coming from the truck. We ran out there, but it was already heavily smoking and we could hear crackling and popping noises. Shortly after the truck was in flames. The fire department arrived, put out the flames. The fire marshal did an inspection and indicated it was likely an electrical fire near the tailgate/hitch/license plate.

The assist tailgate no longer works. The tailgate is supposed to lower slowly. Now it just slams down. The first time it happened it slammed down on my leg. I have the extended warranty that does cover this, however the repair doesn't last. We've had it to the dealership 3 times and it is still broken. They know what the issue is ,but say they are not authorized to repair the actual issue. Please help.

My truck has large spots of paint chipping off all over the truck. Hood, cab, tailgate and sides. It was garage kept with no exposure to hail or chemicals. The service manage at the dealership admitted it was a defect in the paint but they refused to cover it under warranty.
In October 2014 went to have annual state inspection to be performed. Was rejected due to excessive rust on frame. As truck was lifted the frame was bending. Inspection station said truck was unsafe to drive. No rust in wheel wells, tailgate, bumpers. Truck has less than 91,500 miles driven. Appearance is in excellent condition. Have reported to gmac (case # 71-1508539581)and they have made no attempt to replace frame. Do not drive it in salt water and do not trailer any boats or other near salt water. Have been without vehicle for over a year. Was told that this truck if driven is a danger to drive: have reviewed your complaints for this vintage vehicle and many complaintants wonder why something hasn't been done to remedy this apparent inferior material used in these trucks over a number of years in manufacturing. Have in earlier replaced the entire brake system that resulted from rust related corrosion brake lines running along the frame. Am willing to send copies of the truck's outer condition confirming that it hasn't been abused in any way. Please give me an e-mail address and instructions ho I may forward the photos to your attention. Thank you for your courteous attention.

Selected adaptive equipment and suspension and body because there is no place to add tailgate and that is where he problem is - geez - that part makes no senese at all. Tailgate lock on riders side of vehicle does not engage properly. It has been replaced once and greased once at butch ostelete in pascagoula, ms. I called about repair but the person on the phone said they would have to charge me to repair it. The problem is you have to stick your finger in the lock pin and slide it upward to make it engage when the tailgate is closed. This has been on going since I have on the vehicle. It is a defect that could cause someone (like me) to injure their finger in the lock or jolt a persons wrist and elbows (like me) and cause harm. This defect needs to be called to gm attention and have these issues repaired.
