Sliding rear window leaks in 3 spots. Leak poses the safety risk of mold growth inside the vehicle along with the potential of water getting inside of electrical components and air bag device compartments. The problem was reproduced and confirmed at the dealership, to which the plastic seal at the top of the rear window was confirmed to have failed in 3 locations. Dealership recommended replacing the entire back window and assembly with what they believe to be the same window assembly that failed. The only inspection completed on the vehicle to date has been the dealership gm certified technicians. Musty smell after rain and observed staining on the headliner is when the issue was first identified.

I noticed that the carpet behind the seat was wet and moldy in the truck so I started looking and noticed the rear window was leaking in two areas. This has obviously been going on for a while as it explains why the kids have been complaining about the smell back there. Since florida is sub-tropical mold and mildew is a problem and a health issue. I investigated and found hundreds of complaints regarding this issue with failed sealant and cracks. I also discovered a service bulletin that describes the issue but gm refuses to fix it since they say it's not a safety or mechanical issue. Well, I happen to disagree with that since the leak causes the window to fog up and an unsafe environment for people to breath in mold spores in a small space. So, my visibility is impaired and I have to suffer with respiratory issues? this seems to be reason enough for them to perform a permanent repair at their expense, not mine and they can take it out of the designers pay, not mine. Can you help with this?.

The passenger airbag randomly just blew up and destroyed my windshield are vision was impaired couldn’t see couldn’t hear cuz our ears where ringing and toxic chemicals and particles where flying around in the car from it blowing up. We had a 3 year old in the truck and my bestfriend. Are safety was definitely put at risk we where on the freeway and like I said we couldn’t see anything and windshield was completely shattered and none of us could hear a thing something terrible could have definitely went wrong.

Rain is coming in through the back window. Dealer is stating that the rain is coming from the sliding window but satellite is stating it’s the brake light on the top of the truck.

The entire camera safety system is glitchy. Whether backing up or not, the side, front, back and top view camera system intermittently works then doesn’t, going days on end without working.

I purchased a 2016 silverado in 2021. I am writing regarding previously completed recall (n192265660) for my 2016 Chevrolet silverado, which addresses issues related to the rear window defroster overheating and the potential for thermal events. The recall repair was performed in 2020, but I am experiencing a recurrence of the issue. We live in wisconsin, on a cold morning last week, the rear window of my vehicle shattered while I was inside. I believe this was caused by overheating of the rear defroster, since I literally watched it happen in my rear-view mirror, despite the recall repair having been completed. The fracture lines in the glass very distinctly show the source where it shattered, leading directly to the heating element for the defroster. This was a known issue addressed by the recall, and I am concerned that the problem was not fully resolved, as the damage was substantial and could have escalated into a fire hazard. On [xxx], the day of the incident, I tried to get a service appointment to have it looked at and was told there was nothing they could do since the "recall had already been done" to my truck. I contacted customer service and was able to have the truck looked at by a gm service center after they set up an appointment for me. The customer service manager even documented and diagnosed the cause as being the rear defroster that shattered the window, yet they still denied any help or offer to repair it. After nearly 6 weeks of back and forth with gm customer service, and then eventually escalating to the "product assistance claims team" I was still denied any help having the issue resolved even with every piece of evidence showing this was a failed recall repair. After using remote start on 2015 silverado to start on a cold day 27 degrees f as soon as I put my key in the back window shattered and the window was smoking. Cab was filled with smoke and needed to put the key in to stop the truck.

My windshield wipers stop working on low and high and from time to time my vehicle will not go in reverse. When it does finally go in reverse it's a very hard jerk, also when I'm driving it gets a drag an acts like it wants to stop going. It happens frequently and it has been going on for months.

Headlights and wipers stopped simultaneously for 1 second.

While the vehicle was in operation, the drivers side mirror fell off. The is a safety risk as I was not able to use mirror to check for vehicles in blind spot or in left lane as I was driving. Not to mention, as per nys vehicle and traffic law, vehicles have to have at least a drivers side rear view mirror while in operation. After the vehicle was parked, inspection of the mirror assembly found severely corroded swivel and corrosion on the bolts holding mirror on the truck.

When my windshield wipers and headlights have been on for an extended period of time, they tend to cut out. My lights will flicker one time and my windshield wipers freeze for a brief second. Also my vehicle has around 36,000mi and recently a “monitor brake pads” has popped up. I have looked at my brakes and they have plenty of life left. I am not sure what to do. My truck should not be “glitching” and having electrical problems, especially with the amount of money it costs.

My local chevy dealer has confirmed that the human machine interface (hmi) module has failed on my 2016 chevy silverado, causing the back-up camera to be inoperable. The camera is absolutely necessary at night when backing up due to window tinting and I believe this to be a safety-related issue. There currently is a nationwide back order on a replacement hmi module.

While driving, I heard a loud "pop". When I arrived at work, I saw that the rear windshield, on the passenger side, was shattered.

Was in truck moving it to a different spot in my driveway so my daughter could get her car out, got out of truck and shut the door and back window shattered.

Used the remote start feature to warm up my truck (automatically turns on rear defrost). Upon entering the vehicle I could smell smoke. While driving I turned around and noticed smoke pouring from rear window. I turned off the rear defrost and the window exploded! I contacted the dealer and they claimed the recall had already been completed and they could not assist me.

Hello: I have this issue with my vehicle, and have read several people on Chevrolet silverado message boards noting that their windshield wipers do not function properly when turned on. My wipers only work when I push the button to wash the windshield and they do not work in any other setting. I believe this is something that should be looked into and it seems like this is a good place to start.

Rear sliding glass on 19’ + model silverados. Water has entered into the cabin specifically to the left back passenger side. My vehicle to include multiple other people across the nation have been effected by this also. Specifically to mine, water has entered and stained the interior cabin panel. This is a safety/health concern to people experiencing this as it can cause asthmatic individuals and immuno compromised personnel to get deathly ill. I have my babies ride back there and it concerns me that they will get sick due to the negligence of gm not wanting to correct the issue to standard. The answer to the problem is a reseal, however, when that seal does not hold due to faulty back panel glass it is now your obligation to pay for a whole new back panel. Chevrolet has resealed the issue but I have also reached back out to them with no response due to the window not being aligned and portions of the seal being exposed to the weather.

The rear window with power slider blew out when I shut my truck door. I read online that there is a recall for many other models similar to my vehicle but for some reason mine wasn't included. The window itself is over a thousand dollars just for the part; I'd appreciate some help in getting this to include my vehicle as well because it is directly inline with recalls for very similar models. Before leaving the house, it sounded like a static noise was coming from the speakers. I turned the radio off and the noise was still there. I get out of the truck to check the back seat area (where the noise was coming from). I put my ear near the window and it almost sounded like a can of something was being sprayed. It was weird, because nothing was in the back of the cab. Anyway, I thought "that's weird" and drove off, not giving it much thought. As I was walking to the truck at sam's club, I hit the automatic start. While loading the groceries in the truck, the noise now sounded like a sizzling, snapping sound. Then, I noticed few snowflakes landing near the back window were causing that sound. Again, I thought "that is so weird"!! I put the cart back, got in the truck and started it. At that point, it smelled like something was burning. I jumped out and opened the back door to get a closer look. While trying to figure out what was going on, smoke started coming up from both sides of the back windshield. I ran to the front to take the keys out of the ignition and then the window exploded!! I was so scared to start the truck again, wondering what else was about to happen. Thankfully, I was able to get it home with no other issues. It's now at the dealership getting looked at. They mentioned no recalls, but a quick google search shows that this is clearly an issue!! in 2019, canada actually recalled over 159,000 vehicles over the high potential of catching on fire!!! after learning this, I'm so happy it didn't actually catch on fire!!.

Was on my way to work the morning of 11/11/23, the rear window defroster was on. I saw in the rear-view mirror smoke at the rear window. The smoke only lasted a few seconds. About 10 seconds after the smoke stopped there was a loud bang inside the truck. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw that the right-side glass in the slider had shattered. The old window is still in the vehicle. I am in the process of getting a new power sliding window and getting the money together to have it replaced. I have not taken the tuck to a Chevrolet dealer to have them inspect it. I found an article that there is a recall for the rear window defroster in canada, recall # n192220470.

Forward collision system unavailable and front camera blocked clean windshield. This alert populates when the temperature is below 40 degrees. I have taken it to the dealership they ran there diagnostic and said it only needed an update. Problem is still happening I believe this is a manufacture problem. My windshield is not obstructed by anything. This is the only vehicle we have, and I feel my kids and I are at risk when I get these alerts on my dashboard. Problem first appeared back in October when temperatures started dropping in my city.

Windshield wipers have stopped/paused during operation on two occasions midway through clearing rain from the windshield while driving down the road during rain events. Each time this has happened, the wipers have paused for approximately 2 seconds and then continued working without adjusting the controls. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. If the wipers had not started working again, I could have lost the ability to see while driving on the roadway. This could have put me and family at risk of crashing, as well as other motorists on the roadway. The problem has not been evaluated at the dealership yet. There has been no lights, lamps or warnings this was going to occur either time it has happened.

Rear view camera has moisture that builds up within the lens and makes it difficult to see what is behind when reversing. I've read online about many others complaining of similar issues from different source websites.

Rear window leak the cracks can be in the left and/or right side of the rear sliding window plastic upper rail glass guide which is covered by the roof rear spoiler. Examples of a left (1), then right side (2) visual crack (with the spoiler removed) are shown in the graphics above.

Windshield trim flew off on the highway could of struck another vehicle. But thankfully no one was behind us.

When turning on defroster heard a buzzing/hissing/sizzling sounds. Rear defroster wires extremely hot and burning smell coming from wires. Gm knows about this problem but only issued a recall in canada and I am in us.

Rear window shattered after a few minutes of defroster use. Seems to be a problem on these years of silverado but no recall on mine. No warning, window just popped on its own, safety issue to have window failure during driving.

While driving down the highway in a torrential rain the wipers just stopped working. They were cutting on and off and now do not work at all. The problem appears to be in the engine compartment fuse block which is not servicable. It is currently not fixed and could be inspected. We could not see 50 feet in front of us and were blindly following the car in front of us. It hasent been to the dealer yet as the truck is out of warrenty and it would not be covered. This came without any warning lamps or messages.

Rear window defroster caused back glass to explode. Vehicles was remote started before driving even though in settings auto rear defrost was turned off the rear defrosters were turned on automatically after driving for approximately 10 mins and while stopped at a red light I heard a loud bang and looked back to see a little but of smoke and one half of the powered rear sliding window with defrost had complete shattered, immediately I looked down to find the rear defrost turned on and then turned it off. I have heard of a customer satisfaction bulletin and a recall in canada for this issue. This is a huge safety concern as when it blows it is loud and could cause someone that is driving to get panicked and swerve as well as potential for fire. This absolutely needs to be a recall for us vehicles as well.

This is a potential problem for a serious injury to a child , stroller, pet - or damage to front of truck and vehicle in front of truck. The hood of the truck is very high. And sitting in the drivers seat you are "driving blind. " it is impossible to see an object directly in front at bumper level. The only way to judge the distance to an object, or small person, is to get out of the truck and look. I had minor damage to the front of the truck by hitting my garage. But more seriously if there were a child or stroller- you literally cannot see it. This could be easily fixed with a forward looking camera - and the truck comes with a rear one- but chevynfirs not offer any front camera/ park assist on any of its Silverado 1500's. !the manual says park assist is an option- but chevy currently does not offer that option. This is dangerous. .

My rear glass broke yesterday with my two year old daughter in the back seat. I was informed that there was a previous recall on this and its now closed. If you look in the attached photos you can see it appears the rear defrost is what caused it to shatter. The dealership is telling me that there is no recalls.

I remote started my vehicle and the rear defrost caused the back window to shatter. I had previously thought I heard what was a speaker going out/crackling, but upon further research, it appears it was the electronics in the rear defrost arcing. This appears to be a known issue with no us recall.

Rear camera view intermittently displays a blank or distorted image. This issue occurs almost every time when in reverse. In most occurrences, the screen will alternate between a blank screen with a warning indication and the video display several times within the same occurrence. After the video display reappears, the camera view sometimes freezes and does not display a live feed. These issues contribute to considerable risk and liability when the vehicle is in reverse. This issue is identical to a current recall on another vehicle. Please reference safety recall notice 22s06/ NHTSA recall 22v082 for correlated information. The dealership refuses to acknowledge the issue and it has already contributed to physical damage when backing into my garage.
