My abs speed sensor got sheared by back of my front drivers side tire in which I have seen on multiple sights a defect that was deemed a recall for being poorly set up on the assembly line. Secondly, ive spent thousands and looking online for a vary serious issue ive been having with my vehicle due to intermediate stalling, backfiring, and vehicle dieing due to what has finally been found to be the infamous crankshaft sensor. Replaced my computer, all 02 sensors, egr valve exc. . . Than upon looking and researching, I find it was a major one on recall as well for failing all the time. I just feel if these are factory errors and been on the recall, and my woman who travels with me that is paralyzed due to an accident, I should be entitiled to the recalls giving they were known flaws on the asssembly line and a danger to others. When the vehicle stalls out, it starts choking, backfiring, and bucking and wants to lock up and loose control. Not cool. Ive been chasing this problem spending thousands in parts and repairs to make this truck safe for work and feel if there has been recalls for all this, would be nice to reap something out of my investment in this truck.

During a normal stop at a light, just as the vehicle was getting close to a complete stop there was a noticeable bump felt in the brake pedal and release of brake application on its own while still pushing on the brake pedal. This occurred as vehicle was slowing, just before a complete stop was achieved . After researching the problem which seems to be well known in automotive forums and by gm. I removed the front wheel speed sensors, cleaned the corrosion from the mounting pads and reassembled. Before cleaning the sensor mounting the problem would occur 80-90% of the time brakes were applied. After cleaning it has not happened again. There is a recall on this very issue on earlier year models, clearly this needs to be expanded to more model years. If someone had been in front of me when this occurred there is a very good possibility I would have hit the back of their vehicle.

The abs system engages at low speeds causing a pulsation in the brake pedal. I had the wheel speed sensors replaced at dealership and it solved the problem. I did find a recall for this item but they said it doesn't affect my VIN #. A few months later I had a brake line break while coming home. Took it to chevy dealership and they said all the lines needed replaced, because they were severely rusted.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd. While driving approximately 5 mph and depressing the brakes, the abs activated erroneously. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician stated that the front driver side speed sensor was corroded and would have to be cleaned. The failure continued after the speed sensor was cleaned. The contact replaced the front passenger side wheel bearing, hub assembly and speed sensor independently yet the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 133,000. Kmj.
When bringing the vehicle to a complete stop the abs activates on all surfaces and during regular braking. It showed a code of right abs sensor and rear speed sensor. ,however after replacement of right sensor all codes showed clear. But the problem still persist. You think the truck stops then it leaps forward about two feet. Not safe!!.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the anti-lock braking system would activate. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who stated that the wheels speed sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
2004 Silverado 2500 hd, while towing approx. 7000lbs my brake line ruptured, luckily I had the trailer brakes to stop me because the pedal went straight to the floor. Upon inspecting closely the brake lines are so rusted you can literally smash them between your fingers. This is the newest vehicle I own and is in the worst shape as far as corrosion goes, a shame at 70k miles. Truck is in the shop now, can only imagine what this will cost. Already replaced rotors due to corrosion, e-brake cables, wheel speed sensor(bracket rotted off).

Abs activation at slow speeds preventing stopping of vehicle. Dealer and gm refused to participate in repair, stated the sensors were contaminated from rust and therefore not defective, the problem is environmental and we cannot assist you with the repair. . There is no abs warning light coming on and this is identical to the problem found on earlier models 1999-2002 which were recalled. I was told I need to replace the front wheel speed sensors @ a cost of 460. 00 dollars to correct the problem. This happens almost every time the vehicle comes to a stop causing it to surge forward, it will cause a collision. .
I want to add another case to your investigation of brake line failures on gm trucks. I live in maryland and have a 2002 chevy Silverado 2500hd with only 40,000 miles on it. My brake lines rusted through in three separate incidents this year. First, the front wheel speed sensors/abs system failed in April, 2010. Next, in July, the front part of the lines gave way when being backed out of the garage after getting an oil change. That garage replaced the front part of the brake lines only. Finally in September, the rear brake lines rusted through right in my driveway. Luckily, I was not traveling at speed for either of these events, but it was a major expense and inconvenience, especially having it happen twice like that. I also had the line on the power steering fluid cooler rust through in the April repair, and there is way more rust in general on the undercarriage than there should be. The body and engine are just fine. I hope your investigation leads to a recall.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd. The contact was driving at approximately between 5-10 mph coming to a complete stop. When the brakes were engaged an unintended activation of the anti-lock brake system occurred which required an increase in the stopping distance. The failure occurred intermittent at low speeds which had progressed. The contact inspected the vehicle and detected corrosion on the front wheel speed sensor. There was a safety related recall on the model years 1999-2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 23,000.
The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd. While driving less than 5 mph, the contact engaged the brake pedal and the anti-lock brake system activated independently. The failure would occur whenever the brakes were applied at less than 5 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was contributed to the speed sensor. There was a recall associated with the NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic: antilock). The contacts VIN was excluded from the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
My 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd was having a problem with the abs system activating at slow speeds when the wheels were not actually sliding. Although the wheels were acting exactly as described in recall bulletin 05068c, I was told by the dealer that my truck was not covered even if the problem was due to front wheel speed sensor corrosion as described in the recall. I also called the gm customer assistance center at 800-630-2438 where they also said my truck is not covered even though the VIN is within the brackets in the recall. I was given a case number of 71-774131746. I took my truck to larson Chevrolet in superior, WI on November 10, 2009 where they inspected my front wheels and found the corrosion described in the recall. I had them repair the corrosion at my expense. I then contacted customer assistance again and they agreed to forward my case to a district specialist. After a couple conversations with the district specialist isaac I was told that my truck would not be covered because 3/4 ton trucks were excluded. No reason for excluding 3/4 ton trucks was given. It seems to me that gm was in error when 3/4 ton trucks were excluded because my truck had the exact problem described in the recall. I would like to see the recall expanded to include 3/4 ton trucks and to have my expenses of $206. 47 reimbursed.
Wheel speed sensor on 2006 chevy silverado doesn't work so brakes at slow speeds go right to the floor.
Service brakes, hydraulic, anti-lock - front wheel speed sensor defect. There is an open recall and NHTSA # 05v379000, this however does not apply to my (and any other vehicles) although the problem is identical and the repair is identical. The above NHTSA# does not cover 2500hd and 3500 series trucks although they are still silverado models. This is the second time my vehicle has gone into service for this issue once in 11/2005 and now 11/2008.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd. While driving approximately 40 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle would vibrate when the brake pedal was depressed. The failure occurred on several occasions while braking at less than 10 mph. Several mechanics stated that he needed to replace the front wheel speed sensors located in the hub. The manufacturer has not been notified. The vehicle has not been repaired or properly diagnosed. The current mileage was 49,080 and failure mileage was 47,000.
My 1999 chevy truck was recalled for a faulty speed sensor that caused the abs to go off when it shouldn't. I took it in for the repair and they cleaned the sensor. Everything was fine. Two weeks ago the same thing started to happen, you get almost to a stop and you all of the sudden loose all your braking power. I pushed the brake pedal with everything I had and nothing. I probably did even more damage to my brake system by pushing so hard trying to stop. I came within about a half an inch from hitting the person in front of me. The same thing has happened other times luckily not with such close calls. Chevy has informed me that since I have put on 30,000 miles since the recall the will not pay for the repair. They also informed me that had I had all my service and repair work there they would have fixed it again for me. This shows me the recall was not about safety for the people who drive their vehicles it is about their bottom line. Period. I have talked to other people that have had the same problem with their chevy GMC trucks and they didn't even get the recall yet. All it will take is one time for your brakes not to work you roll into and intersection and your whole family gets killed because chevy is too cheap to stand behind or fix their faulty product.

Chevrolet has issued a recall for low speed anti-lock brake failure for 2001 model silverados. The recall includes all rust belt states. I have been having failure of the anti-lock braking system in speeds of 5 mph or below. They claim that my vehicle is not included in this recall, but they admit they are having problems with the same equipment that is on my truck. How can they issue a recall and not include all models that have this faulty equipment. Gm has agreed with me that my problem is the same as what the recall was issued for, but they refuse to pay for the repair, because "your VIN is not included in the recall group. " they state that I have not had regular service done on my vehicle at a dealership, and they will not cover it for that reason. My truck is in excellent shape, and well cared for, just not a dealership. There is nowhere in the owners manual that states that you must have your vehicle serviced at a dealership in order to receive the proper repairs which have been deemed not safe.
My 2004 Silverado 2500hd has developed the following brake concern for the past year. When stopping as the truck slows to around 10 mph the brake pedal pluses and drops to a very low position that results in extending the stopping distance. All four rotors & pads have been replaced along with removing cleaning of the wheel speed sensors. The problem continues and I have had some close calls that could have resulted in a rear end collision.
: the contact expressed concern that the vehicle had a problem with the wheel speed sensor and the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA recall #05v379000 regarding service brakes, hydraulic:antilock due to the VIN. The vehicle was not taken to a service dealer to verify the problem with the vehicle.
: the contact stated while applying brake pressure at 5 mph, there was an increased stopping distance. The vehicle was inspected by an independent repair shop who determined the wheel speed sensor needed to be replaced. There was a NHTSA recall, #05v379000, regarding the antilock brakes. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN. The manufacturer was notified. Updated 10/17/2006 -.
: the contact stated while driving 5mph and applying brake pressure, there was a pulsation within the antilock brakes followed by an increased stopping distance. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined there was corrosion on the brakes and the front wheel speed sensor and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was exposed to extreme winter weather and road salts. There was a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000, regarding the antilock brakes. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN. The manufacturer was alerted.
Both antilock speed sensors went faulty after 3. 5 years and were replaced by mfg. Now 7 years and 70k miles both are faulty again and gm says your problem. Even though a recall is in place my VIN # is not included??? $900. 00 I will need to pay.
