Six problems related to brake foundation components have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving brakes overheated, causing consumer to crash. Took vehicle to dealer, and dealer said that brakes overheated. Mechanic said that in stop and go situations brakes will overheat. Consumer stated that this was very scary, and was concerned that could not stop a vehicle.
Brakes surge / pulsate when coming to a stop which results in smoking when braking.
Whenever brakes are applied, would hear a loud noise , like clunking or banging sound. After brakes are applied, vehicle would fail to stop or slow down right away. Went through an intersection due to no braking power.
Leaking brake fluid shorted electrical wires, causing abs to fail.
Brakes failed,different dealers attempted different repairs but have never been corrected, one accident resulted due to faulty brakes. Yh.
Brakes failed.
