Four problems related to brakes failed have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
First time applied brakes at intersection, extented stopping. Brakes checked ok, replaced brakes anyway. Six mo. Latter, second time, driving 25 mph. Dry, clean paved road. Applied brakes, anti-lock comes on, brakes failed, caused accident. Traveled at least 2 an a half car length before inpact. Suburban checked, only thing found was brake oil read at 190 degrees, after driving 1 mile.
Sudden brake failure; brake pedal depressed completely to floor; small amount of braking capability remained; loud mechanical"crunch" sound from underneath chassis.
Vehicle been experenicing ongoing brake failure whenever brakes are applied in wet/snowy road conditions. Vehicle been in dealer shop on three occasions, and problem still goes unresolved.
