Brake Abs Warning Light problems of the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban

Three problems related to brake abs warning light have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

The SUV does not stop and the abs activates when coming to a stop (approximately 5 mph). I noticed there is gm recall no. 05068 but my model is not included. That is strange because all of the SUV and pickup trucks around that time are included, my model is not. Abs light sometimes is on and sometimes not during these episodes. This safety issue happens periodically over many years with this vehicle.

2 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds, the abs would activate and makes braking more difficult and stopping distance to increase. The abs warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who informed the contact that he needed to replace the abs module. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

3 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2001

The vehicle has ongoing abs problems. The abs system kicks on almost instantly after driving the vehicle and then shuts down and the abs warning light comes on. The vehicle has been serviced 13 times for the problem and various sensors were replaced but the problem was not fixed. The front pads only last about 8 months before they have to be replaced and the rotors have been turned twice because of warping. The vehicle pulls sharply to one side when the brakes are applied. The rear axle seals, rear transmission seal, fuel pump, and ac compressor all had to be replaced. The brake problem is my greatest concern however. This problem has not been resolved and now my extended warranty has expired and the local dealer that serviced the vehicle (billy navarre Chevrolet in lake charles la) said they can not fix the problem.
