Brake Grinding Noise problems of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Two problems related to brake grinding noise have been reported for the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2007

-the contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving at 55 mph the contact heard a grinding noise coming from the front passenger wheel. The vehicle was taken to the mechanic. The wheel hub assembly had to be replaced. When she attempts to apply the brakes, the vehicle slides at first and eventually stops. She has experienced this failure numerous times. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer again as of this date. The current mileage was 79,200. The failure mileage was 79,007. Updated 4/23/08.

2 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2006

: the contact stated there was a low metal to metal grinding noise heard while depressing the brake pedal. As the day went on, the sound became progressively louder and louder. The contact took the vehicle to a goodyear tire center where it was determined the rear brakes; both rear rotors and the right rear emergency brake shoe were completely worn out. All four brake shoes and rotors were replaced. The contact never used the emergency brake. The dealership has been alerted.
