Cooper discoverer 275-55r20 had a stranger point out a very large bulge on the inner sidewall of my passenger side rear tire. This is the 3rd tire from a set of 4 that has developed the same issue within 3 months. Cooper tires is not wanting to help resolve this issue. They want the tire dissected and returned before doing anything.

On 05/19/2023 driver's side front wheel removed for brake replacement. Noticed large bulge on inner sidewall of cooper discoverer 275-55r20 tire. This was the 2nd tire of a set of 4 that has developed the same issue. Now a third has a bulge. I will submit a 3rd report for it.
Cooper discoverer 275-55r20 developed bulge in inner sidewall. I was unaware of issue until a stranger pointed it out. That was on 03/08/2023. Since then, 2 more tires have developed the same issue!! the last 2 have been looked at by tire installation professionals and determined to be manufacturer defects.

I bought my Suburban with goodyear tracker ii tires on it from the dealer in Dec 06. In April 07 a tire was flat. It had a small slice in the sidewall of the tire between the grooves. Nothing had touched or scraped against the tire to cause it. I bought another one from walmart as they are only ones able to get and sell them. I had taken the wheels off for the summer and put them back on in sept 07. In March 08 on this new tire, it had a leak in the grooved section of the side wall near the tread. Again nothing punctured it or scraped it. Because I couldn't change the tire at the time I had to put a plug in it to get home. These are very poorly made and should not be allowed. I have never had any other tires get small slices in the sidewall. I could understand if I hit a pothole, curb, nail, something. But the first tire was 3" above the ground and this one was about 1" above the ground. I have about 5,000 miles on this tire with alot of tread left that is now garbage.

While driving on the garden state parkway in NJ (mile marker 133. 6), the driver's side rear tire blew-out while traveling at approximately 65 mph.
While driving our 2005 Suburban on the interstate, the check tire pressure indicator came on and immediately the back end became squirrelly. Pulling to the side of the road, the passenger side rear tire was completely blown at the sidewall. The tread caught onto the wheel well flare, causing about $500 in damage to the vehicle. The tire was original equipment on the Suburban, a p265/70r16 firestone wilderness radial. The VIN number on the Suburban is 1gnfk16233j164562. The tires had about 12,000 miles of usage when the blowout happened. I contacted gm (service request claim #1380514061) and had the service manager at john seretti Chevrolet in moon, PA inspect the tire. He could find no punctures, foreign objects or other evidence of external damage to the tire. Gm reviewed this and informed me that they did not have enough information to declare a defect, so they referred me to the tires manufacturer, firestone. The firestone shop in moon, PA also could not find any puncture or external damage. The manager there said the blowout could have happened for any number of reasons other than a defect and tried to suggest that it had been driven with too little tire pressure. That cannot be the case. The tires had been rotated and the air pressure checked by the dealership within the previous month and the vehicle is equipped with an air pressure sensor that warns of drops. That sensor went off at the same time the tire blew. Firestone sold us a replacement tire at a prorated cost based on the usage from the original.

2003 Chevrolet k2500 Suburban with firestone steeltex lt245/75r16 tires. On Friday June 10, 2005 the right front tire suddendly lost pressure while traveling on i95 at 65 mph, at ambient temperature of 94 degrees: however, I noticed the loss of pressure before the tire went completely flat and was able to safely pull to the shoulder. Upon inspection I found no punctures. The inside side wall had a 1-1/2" crack where the tire began to separate. The tire had 68781 miles of tread wear with approximately another 10000 miles of tread life left. The tires have been rotated and tire pressure checked on a regular basis that is evidenced by the long life of the tire. The tire is still in my possession.
While traveling a loud noise was heard coming from the front. Consumer pulled over, and noticed that driver 's side front tire sidewall tread separated from the wheel. A second incident happened while the vehicle was parked in the garage. The passenger's side tire sidewall tread separated as well. Future adveturer, h/t p265/70r16, dot ut72xd90804.
While driving at approximately 45 mph along texas hiway 242, a relatively new hiway with uniform road surface in good condition (north of houston). Vehicle is a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban. A loud buzzing sound was heard similar to that produced by the ribbed edge-of-roadway warning strip found on some hiways. I at first thought the character of the road surface had changed; then, a few seconds later, the passenger side rear tire collapsed suddenly. Upon stopping on the shoulder I found that the tire tread surface had separated from the sidewall on the outside of the tire and around the entire circumference of the tire just at the manufacturing seam where these two components are joined. Five radial rips had also occurred in the sidewall leading from about the middle of the sidewall to the separated tread/sidewall seam. The tires were standard equipment on the vehicle (purchased in may 2003) and have been driven approximately 25,500 miles. The tread is still very deep. The tires are firestone wilderness le p265/70r16 111s type.
2001 Chevrolet surburban - approx 17000 miles - months ago - received a recall on this surburban for the firestone wilderness tires - took it to dealer and they said that these tires looked okay. However - on 7/10/04 coming back from a 2 mile drive for groceries - (a major street) - heard a huge explosion sound - the truck swerved wildly - we were thrown and tossed but had seat belts and kids in carriers- going 35 miles per hour - my wife and children terrified and crying - and they were tossed side to side - wife in pain - son had huge belt bruise - I pulled my lower back - my baby seems okay. When it finally stopped in middle of road - I found thatrear left tire had completely blown out like a popped balloon - entire internal about 12 by 8 inches - v pattern - this is the same kind of damage that got all that news attention about firestone tires just blowing on the tire walls and roll overs on freeways. We were terrified when we realized this and knew that had we been going faster we would have nearly died! went to my chevy dealer immediately at henderson chevy (spare on) - completely ignored my complaint. Please help !!!! we are terrifed to drive this truck and cannot afford to just buy all new tires - and what about being hurt and this happening just like it did to so many others the same way (their SUV's and firestone wilderness tires) - again help please!.

Front passenger side tire showed cupping, now all 4 tires show sidewall cracking and tread cracking (both on the tread face and sidewall). Tire life I almost over at less than 24000 miles desspite proper inflation and rotation ccndducted since vehicle was purchased. Dunlop tires installed on another vehicle at same adress for a longer period of time andd with mucch greater mileage show none of these signs. ( dot number: urbm053261 tire size: lt245/75r1 ).
Blowout on first tire occurred at 65 mph with 4 people in vehicle, sidewall burst. Firestone dealer asserted that some cut must have ocaused failure. Inflation pressures regularly checked. Second tire failure found at normal inspection. Approximately 4" failure in rubber on side wall. (dot number: 2012ms tiresize: 245/75r16).
Consumer called complaining about having tire problems. Vehicle wasted the inside of the front tires more that what its regular usage would be. Dealer was contacted, and did four alignments in less then a year. Manufacturer sated that there was nothing they could do more than just an alignment.
While driving at 70 mph the passenger side rear tire exploded from the sidewall. Also driver's side rear tire developed a hole in the sidewall, and the tire deflated. The cause of both failures was undetermined.
Vertical cracks running from tread down sidewall.
