1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/19/2024

While driving our 2023 Chevrolet duramax diesel Suburban, I was waiting, at a complete stop, against the median to make a u turn. When the traffic cleared, I began the turn when I suddenly noticed a nearly complete loss of power, hesitancy of engine engagement, and little response to the gas pedal being depressed. Then an error message appeared on the dashboard stating "low acceleration warning". There was very little acceleration power available. The rear wheels seemed to spin. I was perilously endangered while making a u-turn across lanes because of this loss of power. The vehicle was then taken immediately to our local Chevrolet dealer who diagnosed a error code message (p0700, 0747) related to transmission valve and injectors. We are very concerned that this was a dangerous occurrence and should be further investigated. We have a 30-year history of Suburban ownership, however this is our first diesel model. We have never had problems of this significance, or seen this error message before. Since this diesel Suburban is nearly new, we are particularly concerned about the durability and safety of this vehicle. Please see attached servive report. The ac compressor was also failed and replaced.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 10/27/2024

On October 27, coming back from a family trip at 10 pm at night on a major highway, the Suburban all of a sudden quit. Traveling at 70 miles per hour, all of a sudden, when pressing the gas pedal, the car would not accelerate and the rpm gauge was erratically moving. The car started to slow down till it eventually just quit and it would not go anymore. We were stranded in the middle of the highway with cars coming and going both ways. It was scary, it was dark, and dangerous. A tow truck was called and they told the Suburban to a Chevrolet dealership 60 miles away. The following day, the dealership informed us that the transmission was not repairable and that they had found metal pieces in the transmission. They informed us that the only way to repair was to replace with a new transmission. They informed us that these transmissions are faulty and that it’s common for them to replace transmissions in Suburbans about twice a month. We were not happy to find this out because this is the second transmission in a second Suburban that we have owned that we have had to spend $12,000 on between both vehicles. The car was out of warranty, therefore, the expense was totally on us. I need help trying to see if I can get reimbursed for these expensive faulty transmissions that are not our fault! we have serviced car when due. There were 4 small children in the car and we could’ve had a tragic accident because car quit suddenly! please help!.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 10/22/2023

Automatic emergency braking system activated at ~77mph. Essentially I had started braking appropriately and at about the same time the aeb system seemed to conclude more breaking was needed. This led to brief loss of vehicle control when brakes completely locked at high rate of speed ~77mph. According to vehicle manual this system should not activate at speed great than 50mph (photo attached). This is dangerous because I could have lost control and/or someone behind me could smash into me. My vehicle does not have adaptive cruise. Vehicle and other systems otherwise work perfectly. As a side note the extreme brake application at high speed caused cargo within the vehicle to slam forward and destroy the windshield, in addition to being a scary event.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/24/2023

The computer component surged, and the vehicle is available for inspection. The vehicle brake function is lost. Stepping on the brake paddle did not apply brake. Brake function was disabled by the computer. I took the vehicle to dealer, they said it was a component that has high resistance that cause it. But not sure why it has high resistance at that time and the resistance is gone after driver restarted the vehicle. No one else inspected the component beside the dealership. There was no warning at all and this is the first time it happens. Driver was just driving normally and suddenly all the light in the instructment panel started blinking and driver tried to apply brake but nothing happen. Luckly it wasn't rush hour, and driver was able to let the vehicle roll to the freeway exit on ram and use the up ram to slow the vehicle until it almost stop and changed gear to park to stop the vehicle. Driver then restarted the vehicle and the problem is gone.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/17/2022

I was driving on the highway at 50 mph with my 3 kids and my vehicle stop accelerating . I almost got in a major car accident . I had no warning lights at all . I contacted the dealership to tow car and the transmission failed internally, I ask for assitance since the 8 speed transmission has a class action lawsuit and chevy denied assitance since I have a 6 speed transmission. I believe this is a safety issue that may cause fatalities driving with children and no acceleration at 50.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 05/02/2022

Hello, to whom it may concern, my vehicle is a 2018 chevy Suburban with a 5. 3 motor. Gm produced these motors made from inferior metal and defective lifters. My engine began failing in may 2022, I've taking my vehicle to several shops for work but the problem has not been resolved. I have links below explaining the problems with these motors. There are tens of thousands of individuals with families struggle with this same problem I'm having as well. This is world wide news, I'm asking for help for myself and so many other people in these challenging times. I've contacted gm headquarters. Mary barra and angie with no success, just the run around. I went to a GMC dealer here in clarksville, TN where I reside this month. Doug with GMC told me he was hearing my lifters and I need not drive my vehicle. Called me in his office and told me he couldn't get my vehicle in to be looked at, but gave me another dealership contact information. I called and spoke with a gentleman by the name of tyler he also informed me that they were backed up and couldn't see me until October 5th. All warning lights came on in may of 2022, engine and steering and traction. Please view these links below that explain in further detail. Thank you for your time and help! my contact information daron smith 1611 railton court unit d clarksville, TN 37043 615. 717. 4702 https://youtu. Be/ewoqbnfcaoc https://pickuptrucktalk. 12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/07/2021

At low speeds while steering, the steering wheel locks up for 1 or 2 seconds causing the vehicle to drive in an unintended direction. This is sometimes accompanied by the electrical system rebooting, and sometimes, there is no warnings at all. It has happened to us 4 times in the last six months. The dealer has had the car twice and is unable to reproduce or diagnose. In addition, sometimes the car has rebooted while driving 60 mph on highways. When this happens, it has engaged cruise control at least three times. I don't view this as unsafe as the steering description given above.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 11/21/2018

Air conditioner went out unexpectedly this week. Front seat usb charging ports went out as well. A few days later I attempted to stop the car by breaking but the brakes would not engage. The pedal felt very hard as if pressure was acting against the cars ability to brake and stop. I had to push down with all my force to keep the car from crashing into another car on 1-95 in florida. This occurred on November 21st. I was able to manage to get the car back home after traveling for the holiday but the brake failure occurred a dozen more times on both the interstate, surface roads and parking lots by the time we got the car home. The brake assist notification also showed up on the display panel. My family could have been seriously injured or killed! this car is only 3 years old and is not driven that frequently. No reason I should be having these issues. Dealer thinks it is the vacuum pump. Having diagnosed.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/28/2018

Bought 2013 Suburban brand new and in 2018, on a trip to the mountains for fall break, the car quit with no warning signs, in the middle of the night. The car would not accelerate when gas pedal was pressed and rpm gauge needle “fluctuated erratically” until car came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway! it was a scary and dangerous situation because it was late at night and we were in the mountains with no phone signal. Cars were coming and going both ways on highway. Eventually people stopped to help us get Suburban towed to local Chevrolet dealership and we had to rent a vehicle to get us to where we were initially going to start our fall break. The dealership called a day later to tell us that there were “lose metal pieces” in the transmission, which meant the transmission had to be replaced. We spent $5000 on that new transmission! it was the only way for us to come back home. The car was out of warranty therefore, the manufacturer did not offer any help! this was a very expensive, frustrating, and dangerous fall break in 2018. Please help! we deserve reimbursement because 7 years later, we bought another 2020 Suburban, also brand new and the same thing happened to transmission, last week! we spent $6000 to replace that transmission!.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

While vehicle is in foward driving motion on street or highway(20 - 70mph)out of no where, truck will have a quick second halt in its motion, as if someone pulled and released the emergency brake(see attach recording) all I feel is a sudden jerk which its intensity depends on traveling speed. It startles me every time! during this time, the speed gauge drop then resumes regular speed, check engine light appear but immediately turns off as does the words "park assist off" also displays then immediately goes away. These sporadic episode are becoming more frequent and could cause tragic accident. I have made several attempts to have issue dignosed but unfortunately does not generate codes, according to onstar. Dealership was unable to duplicate the issue. However they recommended replacing throttle position sensor, brake lamp switch, spark plugs and wires, master cyl and brake booster, flushing and replacing brake fluid for possible solutions but it did not fix the problem. What I have notice the issue becomes more frequent when there is studden braking(stop and go traffic) followed by increased acceleration. In addition while sitting idle in park for about 10mins with a/c on, truck idles down like it is about to cut off(engine light comes on then immediately off) but doesn't . Dealership was unable to duplicate that too. Also after braking for stop light I sometimes feel several thumps as though I'm not putting enough pressure on brake peddle. No matter how much pressure I put on brakes the thumps still sporadically occur. Sometime when this happens it is followed by the first issue I meantioned when driving is resumed (hault, engine light, park assist off warning).

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 05/14/2017

On mother's day I was driving my 2010 chevy Suburban with 92k miles on it. When I was leaving the car wash I accelerated on the gas to get onto hwy 29. As soon as I got unto hwy 29 a car switched from the left lane to cross over in front of my vehicle to get on to the on ramp for hwy 37 east. I pressed the brake to ensure I wouldn't hit him. However, when I pressed the brake the SUV was still accelerating. So I looked down to see if the gas peddle was stuck under the mat. It wasn't. So pressed the brake harder. The SUV was still accelerating. I then put the SUV in neutral, but is was still accelerating all the while keeping my foot firmly pressed on the brake. So I moved the gear shit into the manual position. Once moved into the manual position the dash read m2 which represents second gear. So I quickly took my foot off the brake, gave it gas, quickly shifted back into neutral while hitting the brake and then into drive. The engine revved real loud and then the brake starting working again and accelerator was normal. My vehicle was towed to team Chevrolet in vallejo & a case was opened with gm. I have been getting the run around with both and mostly recently was told a lie from the gm representative.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 04/08/2017

I was on slope hill. My brakes are not responding. I put in new brakes 2 months ago and brakes not responding? my car almost went down the hill. I called roadside assistance and had them towed my car to dealership. They found the issue vacuum pump broke. Also my transmission having issue since 2 months. They still haven't found issues. I can't control my speed and engine gives a kick when entering highway. They won't repair this issue because their "mechanics" cannot find the issue. This is this worst vehicle to drive andunsafe for drivers and passengers.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 01/13/2017

The display module was replaced. Then the heat wouldn't work so the entire display screen was replaced. There is a grinding / vibration that has not been diagnosed. Feels like it slips. It also got stuck in an acceleration and the brakes wouldn't work.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/06/2016

While driving vehicle goes into "engine power is reduced mode" preventing any accelaration. Once you tap the brakes - that is your new maximum speed. If going up an incline and you slow down - new maximum speed. The vehicle will not accelerate. To make a left turn - the vehicle has to be restarted before there is any sort of power/acceleration to cross the road. A very dangerous situation especially if you cannot easily pull to the right side of the road out of harms way. This has happened 3 times with a brand new 2016 chevy Suburban. Resulting in a close call to an accident. When getting towed the vehicle didn't have enough power to drive up the tow truck bed and had to be winched up.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 07/29/2015

Own a 2008 Suburban and had exact problem five (5) times and paid to repair (5) times. We have called gm consistently relative to problem and will not admit issue. We have learned other owners having similar issues with stabillitrak sensors. The vehicle immediately drops speed to 20 miles an hour during driving. My understanding, the vehicle receives senor reading relative to sterring and stability (potential for vehicle to spin out of control). Issue is the vehicle immediately drops speed which can cause potential for severe "rear-end" accidents. I called your hotline "without return calls"!.

Traveling on hwy 35 in dallas texas and message appeared on instrument cluster "reduced power mode". Vehicle speed dropped to 20 mph (posted speed was 70 mph). Had to have vehicle towed to dealership and a fix has not been determined. The dealer so far has charged me $900 and it did not fix it. This same problems been posted on gm forums, gm truck forums with these same results. There are hundreds or maybe thousands of complaints for this issue. It is very unsafe.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/28/2014

Bought this vehicle a few days before the first incident. I drove it home from over two hours away, drove it all around the day before, no problems. Then I was driving down a bypass at about 60 miles an hour and the engine shut off! I had no power steering, nothing! I was able to pull over, shut it off and once I turned it back over it was just fine. So I cautiously started driving, it happened again a few miles down the road only this time it stalled then regained power and quickly shut off again. Once engine was turned off and restarted, it was fine, it did this to me 5 times within 5 miles. I almost got hit two of those times by other vehicles, once when I was turning onto a road. I am glad my kids were not in it. I am scared to drive on two lane roads without room to pull over.
