3 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2004

Replacement front brake rotors installed on a 1999 chevy Tahoe 2 door and driven approximately 100 miles in 15 mile increments resulted in significant intereference wear between the disc brake pad backing plates and the cylindrical portion of the brake rotors, with significant heat generation, noise, and odor. Subsequent inspection of the replacement rotors and the oem rotors revealed that the replacement rotors diameter of the cylindrical portion that covers the vehicle hub were approximately 3/16 larger diameter than the oem rotors. Replacement rotors have been returned to the seller, paul do at cquencemotorsports, 4933 pearce street, apt. B, huntington beach, CA 92649. I believe the rotors were manufactured in china, their part number is 5569 min thk 30. 86mm pt14 bt. Fortunately, the problem was discovered before significant vehicle damage occured. The stock rotors were reinstalled without interference. Old part unavailable, it was returned to seller under warranty.

4 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2003

I have a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4 lt. In the last few months I have had to replace the front brake pads and rotors every 5,000 miles. I am now looking to spend another $600 to replace them again. I have had them looked at each time, and I am told there is nothing wrong with the calipers and they have no reason as to why the rotors are being warped. The most recent time I took in the Tahoe I was told the rotors were blue due to the heat from the pads, but again there is nothing wrong with the calipers or anything else. I have not been carrying any heavy loads in the vehicle, or driving hard. Most of the miles are from driving on the highway. I have never taken it off roading.

5 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2003

The rotors experienced premature wear, which caused vehicle to experience extended stopping distance.

6 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2002

Consumer state that the vehicle would vibrate when applied the brakes. Dealer was notified and replaces the front rotors and the pads on four separated occasions and the problem still reoccurring. (as I mentioned VIN# please fill in) ts.

7 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2000

Experienced excessive vibration when braking. Mechanic advised that rotors were warped and needed to be turned. This was done but problem reoccurred after less than 5,000 mi. Advised this time that rotors are warped again and need to be replaced, probably due to "the way I drive". I have never had this happen with other vehicles. After asking that they look further for a cause, I am told that this is normal wear and tear. After pushing a little harder, I am finally advised that the rotors on this year/model are prone to warping and should be replaced, but are not covered by warranty even though I puchased extended warranty. I am told that the gm replacement part will be identical to original. Rear brakes were screeching @27489 mi (I purchased at 23326 mi). Told that shoes nead replcmt due to wear. I, nor anyone I have spoken with have heard of rear brake shoes wearing out at this low mileage.

8 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 06/11/1998

Consumer was traveling on highway and veered over to the shoulder to avoid hitting another vehicle. When consumer applied brakes, pedal was soft and went all the way to the floor. Also, there was vibration. In addition, steering wheel pulled back and forth, due to rotor failure.

9 Brake Disc Rotor problem

This 1999 Tahoe is about to undrgo the fifth brake job. The first for wapred rotors occurred at 1300 miles, the second at 18000 miles, the third at 23000 miles, the fourth at 26000 miles and now, the fifth at 36500 miles. Each time I have hd to fight with dealership to get anything done. Chevrolet insist nothing is wrong with these vehicles. A vehicle this expensive should not be having this many problems. "normal driving" does not cause this problem. I have not had these problems with any other vehicle I have owned. Chevrolet needs to take responsibility for this defective braking system. I have lost days from work having this fixed again and again. I will certainly think carefully before buying another Chevrolet.

10 Brake Disc Rotor problem

At 11,000 miles front rotors are prematurely warped, cause unknown. Also when applying brakes the front end of vehicle vibrates/shakes. Please give any further details.

11 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Problems with vehicle brakes, steering and rotors. There were problems with the brakes, steering, and rotors since purchase. There was a chattering sound in the front brakes. The consumer had the vehicle re-aligned, and the rotors machined. The problem went away for a short period, but then return after 4k miles. The dealer suggested the consumer place high end rotors on the vehicle.
