1 Catalytic Convertor problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 12/05/2025

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle hesitated and the temperature gauge failed to function as needed, with an abnormally loud sound coming from the cooling fans. The check engine warning light illuminated, and a message about the battery was displayed, and a warning light about the battery was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the thermostat housing had failed and the wiring to the fan had failed. The vehicle was repaired. Several days later, the contact stated that on a separate occasion, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter had failed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the same day the vehicle was picked up from the independent mechanic, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the timing chain had failed. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 165,880.

2 Catalytic Convertor problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 09/24/2012

The exhaust bolts are breaking causing the exhaust to leak. The related problems will likely be poor fuel economy, increased emissions and potentially failed emissions test. The catalytic convertor was already replaced on the same side as the exhaust manifold with the broken bolts. Problem was not noticed until the second bolt broke thus not sure when the original problem occurred. The problem appears to effecting numerous other vehicles thus a potential large global impact.

3 Catalytic Convertor problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 10/01/2004

I have been hearing a rattling sound underneath my car while driving. Also when I turn off the car, especially when the car has been driven for a while, I hear a popping noise, maybe from the muffler area. I was told today that the catalytic converter needs to be replaced. I bought the car new, so I don't understand how that could be already with only 85k on the car.
