During pursuit training a 2013 Tahoe suffered a catastrophic failure of the wheel suspension assembly. This is the third identical incident in the past month. The other two vehicles were 2014 police pursuit Tahoes. In all instances the front wheel assembly failed during a turn. The race or inner dust cover for the wheel bearing assembly separated. This resulted in the bearings coming loose, and the wheel subsequently folding under. In two instances the vehicle was in danger of a rollover situation. This occurred during emergency vehicle training at a regional academy and the vehicles belonged to two different police agencies. The two prior incidents involved vehicles with under 5000 miles.

I recently noticed that a growling noise was coming from my left front wheel. After extensively researching the problem it was noticed that my bearings have failed. Gm has TSB information on this as they know it is a problem but are not willing to assist me due to the age and mileage on the vehicle. I think if they have a service bulletin they should honor the problem found initially. Should complete failure have occurred it could have been fatal.
