36 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2009

I own a 2003 chevy Trailblazer. Noticed the speedometer doesn't go past 0 on my vehicle. All other gauges working properly. I'm reading a lot of complaints regarding this gauge on this particular model of chevy, but no recalls. Why not?.

37 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2009

I have an 2003 Trailblazer with a bad instrument cluster(speedo, tach, gas gauge, temp) all not working! all of chevy vehicles in this class( tahoe, silverado) have been recalled for this problem except for the Trailblazer. This seems a bit ridiculous to me considering the part numbers for the clusters are all exactly the same. When I went to the dealership I was told it would cost around $500 for the repair. I contacted chevy and was told it is not their problem even though thousands of their vehicles have been recalled for the exact problem with the exact same part numbers. I had to buy a gps system just so I could know how fast I am traveling because I could not afford the full repair cost, nor do I feel I should have to. I have done plenty of online research and have found thousands of complaints identical to mine. My problem is that I don't understand why they recalled the tahoes and silverados and not the Trailblazer when the part numbers are identical.

38 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2009

Started hearing a ticking noise coming from under the hood. Took it in to get checked out. Had to replace fan clutch motor at a cost of nearly 500 dollars. 2 weeks later started having crazy speedometer readings.

39 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2009

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the rpm dial fails to move and the speedometer is beginning to fail. Initially, the speedometer made a ticking noise as the speed increased, but currently the dial is stuck at 40 mph. Whenever the engine is turned off, the speedometer dial does not go back to zero. When the vehicle is restarted, the dial will drop to 35 mph. When the driver accelerates, the dial moves and remains at 40 mph. As a result, the contact is never sure how fast she is driving. The manufacturer stated that they were aware of the failures and issued an improvement campaign for those with vehicles that had less than 80,000 miles. Through research, the contact found numerous vehicles with the same failures, but with more mileage. She believes that a recall should be issued because it is obviously a manufacturer defect. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. The failure mileage was 96,000 and current mileage was 101,000. Updated 08/31/09 updated 09/04/09.

40 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2009

Speedometer sticking at high speeds andnot showing actual speed driving.

41 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2009

Speedometer quit working. It would freeze at 120+ mph. Eventually it would work it's way back down to 0 mph and works when it wants. It accurate when it does work?? ac blower quit blowing in the front - blower module resistor replacement needed. Seems to be popular complaint on this vehicle. Ambient temperature sensor went out - affects inside temp w/ac as well. This went out 100 miles after warranty expired and dealer wouldn't fix under warranty. All of this of course after warranty expires.

42 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2009

Speedometer reads 60 mph too high. Has returned to normal one time but problem has happened again (original problem was too weeks ago. ) tachometer also reads too high (3000 rpms) and has for several months.

43 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2009

I have a problem similar to many others. I have recently purchased a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. I have encountered a problem with the speedometer on this vehicle. The speedometer occassionally stops working entirely from time to time and other times, has a mind of it's own and decides to make a random number the zero mark and increase speed from that point. I know that this is a safety issue as there are times that I have no idea how fast I am traveling. I have since taken this matter to general motors in an attempt to give them an opportunity to rectify an unsafe situation. In response, they asked me to take the vehicle into a certified gm dealer for a vehicle diagnostic and repair. I did just that. My vehicle was found to have a problem with the instrument cluster. The dealer was nice enough to inform me that there have been several related problems that gm has issued a recall for. . . Unfortunately, I seem to have the only model in this vehicle class that is not covered in this recall. And gm was nice enough to offer to do absolutely nothing in my case. . . Which includes not refunding the cost of the diagnostic that they requested in order to gather their information. In my disappointment, I have done some online research and come across several lawsuits against gm for this exact problem. . . Some of which even include the Trailblazer. My question is this: do I have any other course of action? also, has there already been a complaint similar to this that may be of assistance to me?.

44 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2009

These speedometer ceases to work in cold weather. It will show 40 or even 80 mph when the vehicle it stopped at a stoplight. Often when the vehicle is in motion the indicator is pointed at the odometer. This is a serious safety hazard. Not knowing your actual speed is extremely dangerous. I have been told there was a recall for this but was told by a Chevrolet dealer that I would have to pay for it. I looked on this website and did find one but I may have missed it, as I am new to this area of car ownership.

45 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2009

Speedometer has become faulty. It may not register the correct speed of the vehicle.

46 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2008

Speedometer stuck on 60 then after shut off did right. Did that several different times. Now points to n or d and then starts going counter clockwise. Don't have $500 to replace it. Gm customer service acknowledged there is special bulletin on this but my VIN nor mileage 71,000 mi did not fall within this bulletin. Turned it over to "district manager" and he said same thing and said called my dealership and they couldn't help on this matter. There are numerous reports on internet of people having same problem with 2003 Trailblazer. Is safety hazard due to people like me who don't have the money (on retirement s. S. ) and trying to guess at speed they are going. Rpm on tach also fluctuates. I feel that to have the whole instrument panel replaced is a known defect on the makers part.

47 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2008

I noticed when the weather got colder/snow in December, my speedometer was reading around 60 mpg high speed when I was going about 20 mph. After turning my truck on and off a couple of times, it would reset to 0 mph. Another heavy snow day came and it happened again, and after I was exiting my car yesterday, the needle pointed south and when I started the truck it went backward to 120 mph. I called gm to find out if there were any recalls on this problem or any others and they said there were no recall for my vehicle at this time, which I know is untrue due to the gas leak recall. I called the gm service center and was told the same thing and this item is not covered. . Read more...

48 Instrument Panel problem

50 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2008

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving all of the lights and functions on the instrument panel stopped working. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they could offer him no assistance. The current mileage was approximately 35,000. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000. Gauges on instrument panel are not working properly. First one was speedometer then oil pressure gage and tachometer. I am sure more will follow. Also electric seat no longer moves forward or backward.

52 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

My check engine light came on but the vehicle ran o. K. Took it to mechanic and was told that the oil pressure gauge was not working and he believed there was a recall on this. It wasn't a recall so we were told we would have to pay for the repairs ourselves and since we regularly change/check our oil I wasn't too worried. Now we have noticed the temperature gauge has shot all the way around and has stayed but when it is really cold outside it drops back to normal. The speedometer and the rpm gauge also sticks. Spent many days for a few years trying to solve problem with the radio and dvd player not working properly and switching stations on its own and after several replacements finally gave up because it was never corrected. This is a real concern as I do travel by myself and rely on the instrument panel and this seems to be a real problem with the Trailblazer and should be recalled by chevorlet.

53 Instrument Panel problem

54 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2008

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. She smelled fuel fumes coming through the air vents of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer , and the fuel tank was replaced. 57 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2008

The speedometer on my 2003 chevy Trailblazer quit working. While driving the speedometer indicates the car is going 120+ mph. When parked it indicates the car is going 50+mph. This resulted in dangerous driving conditions throughout the weekend. I phoned the local battle creek Chevrolet dealership Monday (2/4) and was told that only certain gm vehicles were being repaired courtesy of gm and that at this time my vehicle did not qualify. On the internet I am seeing that this appears to be a common problem for other people who own the Trailblazer.

The speedometer on my 2003 chevy Trailblazer went from 0 to 120 at a stop sign. Now it is stuck past the 120 and just vibrating. Sometimes it will go back to 120 but seemed to go right back to the dead space past 120. The Trailblazer only has 45,000 miles.

62 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

The speedometer malfunctions on an intermittent basis. Sometimes it drops to zero. Other times jumps to a speed that far exceeds the vehicle's speed. It is not just the cable. 66 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2007

I purchased the used 2003 chevy Trailblazer may 2006. Last year the speedometer started jumping above my actual speed. Approx. 4 days later it rectified itself. It has happened 4 - 6 times and each time the same thing happens and it takes about 4 days to fix itself again. I haven't kept a log but it seems to be happening more frequently. I've read other owners stating what they had done. I cannot afford $300 - $400 taking it to a dealer. How many complaints need to made before a recall it set in motion for Chevrolet? thank you!.
