36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2015

The drivers side low beam headlight was not working. When my dad opened the hood there was an aroma of burning wire. My dad removed the rubber cap for the low beam headlight and found the plastic electrical connector to the low beam bulb was burnt and charred. My dad removed the connector in order to avoid a fire. I contacted gm customer service and they informed me that there was not a current recall for my VIN number and that I would have to take it to a dealer for repair. I contacted a dealer and they informed me that the repair could run hundreds of dollars and they could not confirm that the problem would not happen again.

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2015

The problem started on Wednesday January 21, 2015; I started my car up to let it warm up while I dusted off the snow. I notice my heated seats were not working. I turned the car off and restarted it. As soon as I restarted it the car began to backfire and stale. It would start but then stale out. I had to get the trucked towed to the local mechanic. I pick up my truck that evening and it ran fine. The next morning Thursday January 22, I got in my truck and it started right up. However, every stop I came to the truck just shut off. I restarted it and then would just shut off at the next stop. The engine light did not come on until I was drive to the mechanic. Again that evening I picked up my truck and everything was fine. Friday January 23, I was driving my 7 year old to school and the car just shut off while I was driving down a steep hill. I had no brakes or steering. This happened 3 times. I again took my car to the mechanic. He kept my car for 4 day. I finally picked it up yesterday January 24 and it is still not fixed. My mechanic said he is stumped. It drove great after picking it up. Then this morning January 25, as I was taking my daughter to school, my car shut off 3 time while I was driving down two hills. Then it staled 2 more times while I was a red lights. I nearly missed two accidents. By doing research online I found hundreds upon hundreds of complaints from people having the same issue. I call the local chevy mechanic and he said this is an known problem. I called chevy directly and they too are aware of the problem and number of complaints. I even found complaints on this very site. I'm just curious if someone has to die before this problem gets fixed. I have a recall on my drivers door for a part that catches fire, but no recall for the truck just shutting off when in motion. Doesn't make sense to me.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2014

On Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at approximately 11:30 a. M. While my husband and I were driving on the west side of the standing rock sioux reservation my 2006 Trailblazer ext caught on fire. We both smelled smoke, parked (didn't turn off the ignition) and flames began to shoot out from underneath the front driver's side of the vehicle. We got out and ran to the west side of the roadway as the fire engulfed the entire front motor area. My purse was still in the burning vehicle and I told my husband he ran back to the burning vehicle to retrieve it. He sustained burns to his hands, face, legs and feet. In addition he received smoke inhalation to a degree of a "black out" stage. We witnessed the tires burn up one after another, beginning with the front driver's side, then the passenger side, the rear driver's and the passenger's side - at this point we moved further away from the burning vehicle as we expected the car to explode once it reached the gas tank area, but somehow the gas tank didn't explode. In fact, the spare tire which sits underneath the gas tank received a slight singe and did not burn (along with the gas tank). The only warning we had was the "smell of smoke" - the Trailblazer's dash warning light did not appear to indicate anything was wrong. In addition, on or about October 25, 2014, another Trailblazer (same area) also burnt up (as reported by bureau of land management).

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

My door module went bad. The part has a recall, the manufacture doesn't have a fix. The manufacture wants me to pay for another defective part. Then reimburse me when they have the fix. I couldn't make sense of this since the part is under recall just swap it out for another defective part. When ever they have a fix let me know I will take my vehicle. Why pay for something that has a recall. If your going to reimburse me anyway! I will like to keep my 500+ and not wait for gm to pay me back. Plus they want to pay a diagnostic fee when I told them what the problem is.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

This complaint involves the rear liftgate wiper not functioning. It first started by running slower and slower, then finally stopped functioning completely. I have replaced it twice now, and both times the wiper motor would function for a very brief time, the first time around it didn't last for 36 hours before ceasing to function again. I have been to numerous forums to research this problem, such as trailvoy. Com, and it is quite apparent to me that this is a widespread issue, with little hope of an easy repair. It appears the suspect part, the lgm, can't be ordered or replaced by the common man, and many of us do not have the financial resources to continually be taking the vehicles to the service bay of our local chevy, gm or Buick dealer. This is a safety issue for many reasons, but particularly for those of us who live in a rural environment of dirt/gravel roads as the draft at the rear of the vehicle always causes the lift glass to become soiled, reducing visibility to near zero at times, which makes for less safety when changing lanes, backing up and so on. Additionally, there has been no solution issued yet for the flickering headlight issue that a recall was issued for last year for these vehicles. This is becoming maddening, it has been far too long. Apparently none of the higher ups at gm live in regions where there is a substantial deer population. Thankfully I have yet to hit one. It would seem to me that this problem is given very little attention by gm.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2014

Hello, my name is zachary mcgregor, owner of a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The issue with my vehicle is that my wife was driving it down a highway in northern michigan, driving at about 45-50 mph and the vehicle just shut off while driving. When the vehicle shut down she lost power to steer and brakes. If this incident happened in the city or on the freeway this could have been fatal. I called Chevrolet and started a claim, the person I talked to couldnt speak much english or understand it as well. I told them what had happened and they wrote back with a entirely different story. They sent me to a local dealership, to get advise. The only thing they could tell me was there is no recall on that switch. All I was trying to do was make Chevrolet knowledgable about the situation.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2014

I washed my vehicle and the next day when I went to use it the drivers side door window panel wouldn't work. I had noticed a funny smell a few times before this but was unable to determine the cause. I tried intermittently to use the panel to open the windows or lock or unlock the doors to no avail. Two days later when I was on my way home all 4 windows started opening and closing all by themselves. One would go up and the other would go down. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. The only thing I knew was that I had washed the vehicle. Of course the windows were up and in checking I couldn't see where any water could get inside the vehicle. I was told it was a known problem and I would need a new switch at the cost of almost $300. 00 for the door panel switch. This would not include labor costs to make it work on my vehicle. I couldn't believe just washing my vehicle could cause such a problem so I decided to go online to see if others had the same problem. I found that there is apparently a recall. I will contact the 800 number and see what recourse I have in getting my panel replaced.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2014

Engine light came on and never went off. Have had in garage 4 times and no one able to fix. I have had every code fixed and cleared but light still stays on. The last time in shop light was off when all codes reset and as soon as I drove it a short distance, light returned. Now light goes on and then off and on again. It can last for days or a short drive. Car runs fine and no one can see to find problem.

64 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2013

Dear sirs or madam, I am writing to you regarding the recall that was issued for the door switch on above named vehicle. The switch on my vehicle malfunctioned in 2011, before the recall was issued. Later, upon taking the vehicle to wailer chevy in keene, nh, I was informed that there was a recall and I am eligible for a reimbursement of the out of pocket expense of replacing the part. In short, gm initially denied me the reimbursement for superficial reasons. Later after I contacted and filed complaints with the agencies listed below, gm offered and sent a check that covers only the price we paid for the part, but not the labor it took to install it. I have not yet cashed that check, as there is language on it that indicates the issue would be resolved upon cashing. It is not resolved. The balance still owed is $272. 18. I was told by some of the agencies listed below that NHTSA was the federal entity responsible for insuring manufacturer compliance with recalls. I'm filing this complaint with NHTSA so that the recall be honored in this case and the balance of the out of pocket expense paid to repair the defect, be reimbursed to me. Gm file number: 71-1281988574 eastern michigan bbb complaint number: 10058153 michigan department of state file number:334288 NY attorney general file number:2014-1185259 I also have the supporting documentation (ie. Receipts), that can be forwarded to your office if/when needed. Please feel free to contact me regarding this issue.

65 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2013

For months I have been having issues with my vehicle. It was taken in to Chevrolet for a recall repair and now it seems to have all sorts of problems! my fuel gauge in the tank is no longer working, my a/c was working one day but not the next, the check engine light turns on and off, it's dumping fuel, the thermostat had to be replaced. . . When do the problems end? now come to find out after having my blower motor replaced the connector for the electrical has had a little bit of melting issue which potentially could have caught fire!!! of course general motors wants and arm and a leg to replace it!!!! I don't think I will ever buy another chevy again, this is ridiculous! if it had caught fire which I am sure if people can't afford or don't get their vehicles properly checked there will be one that happens to, it could kill someone! seems like a liability waiting to happen!.

67 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2013

While driving down the road in my 2006 trail blazer I had a door switch/latch malfunction. In my vehicle when you pass 15 mph the doors automatically lock. At that moment the doors switched to locked and at the same exact time the door lock/latch failed and the door opened while the car was moving. I made arrangements with my local chevy dealer via chevy customer care to correct a recall with the door switch. When I received my vehicle back the door latch/lock was not fixed. That part wasn't under recall. The part that failed was the door lock actuator which is an electronic device that is part of the door switching/locking system. The fact that the door switch was recalled due to shortages is quite possibly for the failure of this latch/lock. I am an avid seat belt wearer, luckily. I am great concerned with the potential for serious injury or death with this failure in other vehicles. I have reached out to the dealer and gm but was told too bad for the dealer and have bad no response when I mentioned their lack of concern for safety. Thank you.

68 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2013

Engine light on indicated vapor collection box under car not working properly,and/or needing tune up. Performed tune-up, engine light still on. , this, according to my licensed mechanic is a defective design construction problem. That having the box fogged for leaks and subsequent repair or replacement results in multiple situations of the light always coming back on. 2. The master switch on the drivers door went out, during the rainy season and needed to be replaced. I later found out that this was a recall item, but gm, chev, and/their dealerships refuse to reimburse me for the part and even though I took it to a dealership, they did not spray the one I had installed, was not interested in relacing the orig defective unit with the new engineered part, were rude, obnoxtious and non professional to my husband, which now has me livid. We received a phone call from a local dealership, never any mail prior to repairing, when asked about the check engine light (under another recall too, for fuel level sensor, the dealership is charging $60. 00 to check it out. Is gm and or Chevrolet finding it necessary to drum up repair costs from the consumer to themselves. This is just a little more or less like scamming.

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2013

This is the second time this has happened - what happens is I will be driving ( speed once at 35 once at 60 ) and my Trailblazer just shuts down. Instantly. You have no power to to get over to the side of the road. P0601 code - this is what shows on my mechanics system. However, when you research that code online. Some folks have spent thousands trying to stop this issue and no resolve. This is highly dangerous - you go from 60 to nothing. My tb has less than 50k on it.
