Chevrolet Trailblazer owners have reported 5 problems related to anti-theft controller (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Vehicle would not start. Had it towed to mechanic shop. Battery was completely dead, though the battery was only 1 year old and was a very expensive ac delco 6 yr battery. Mechanic changed the alternator and the battery and everything tested the same. Put old battery and alternator back in, as battery he charged was holding the charge ok. Could not locate source of problem. The next day, the dash lights were not working, nor the interior lights. As I drove along the highway, the dashlights blinked and then stayed on. Ceiling light works intermittently. The alternator shows that it is charging very hard. According to other incidents reported on the internet, there is an electrical problem in the 2005 Trailblazer that may or may not be associated with the passlock anti-theft system, but in any case, shows slow leak of electrical current that slowly drains the battery 24/7, until the battery is dead. Why is no recall issued making general motors responsible to find and fix this problem without cost to the owners of 2005 Trailblazers. I spent $130. 00 at the mechanic shop and they could not find what the problem is, much less fix it. My vehicle is parked in a garage most of the time, and there is no reason for this malfunction other than faulty gm part somewhere. Our local chevy dealer told me they think the problem is related to the passlock anti-theft system but they have never been able to nail it down. They reference a vehicle which they kept for two weeks for diagnosis of a "won't start" complaint, and the vehicle started some days and not other days with no pattern to the malfunction.

The contact also mentioned that the fuel gauge displayed an inaccurate reading when the fuel tank was full. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. I have had the following problems with my 2005 chevy trailblaxer ext LS: 2008: fuel sensor failure, running board fell off 2009: head and tail lights going out frequently, windows would get stuck- could not go up or down- all dash lights flashing, car stalling out- needed circuit board replaced. Anti-theft non-functioning. 2010:windshield wipers will not shut off(replaced display board), idle pulley needs to be replaced , 4x4 running rough and making a sound, spedometer non-functioning, radio stopped working, glove box lock broke, heat/ac stopped working first on blowers 4& 5 then stopped completely I have not been able to afford to fix all these repairs, as it exceeds $2,000. Car is over warranty and was brought used from a former gm dealer at under 50k. I contacted gm in November 2010 and they stated that they my vehicle was out of warranty and they could not assist me. Gm initiated contact in December of 2010 and told me to get a full diagnosis of the problems and stated that it was ok to go to the former gm dealer. I paid over $100 for this diagnosis and they stated that my vehicle was out of warranty and they cannot provide any assistance whatsoever.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving 55 mph, the anti-theft system flashed three times on the instrument panel before the fuel line failed. The vehicle lost power and the contact managed to pull the vehicle over and turn it completely off. After 15 minutes, she attempted to restart the vehicle and then turned it back off. She restarted the vehicle a few times before driving back on the freeway. The dealer performed a diagnostic, but there were no failure codes showing up on the computer. The dealer discovered that the ignition switch shorted internally. They replaced the ignition switch, but were unable to confirm if the vehicle is permanently repaired. The current and failure mileages were 32,000. Updated 08/14/09. The consumer stated since the dealer replaced the ignition switch, the vehicle continues to shut off because there is a problem with the anti-theft system. Updated 08/17/09.

2002 chevy Trailblazer. When you go to start the vehicle and if the vehicle has a dead battery, you can not remove the key from the ignition. The ignition locks up and you can't remove the key. I guess this is actually part of the anti-theft devices. This is very unsafe in that if you have to go to seek help. The car is unlocked with the key in the ignition.
