3 Battery Dead problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/07/2012

The SUV would not start in October 2012. I was told I needed a new battery, so I bought one right away. I drive the SUV very infrequently, maybe only 40 miles a week. On decmber 7, 2012 the headlights started to flicker while I was driving across the chesapeake bay bridge in maryland. This was very concerning because it was getting dark out. I drove directly to a friend's house, and when I tried to park the SUV the lights would not turn off. Even after manually trying to turn off the lights and removing the key from the ignition, the lights would not turn off. Finally the lights went out, but the battery was dead when I tried to restart the SUV in the morning. We tried to charge the battery. This caused sparks by the fuse box and the lights inside the cabin began to turn off and on, even with the key out of the ignition. The headlights also started to flicker off and on and the doors locked an unlocked. I had the car towed back across the bridge to my local mechanic and was told I need a new battery. Obviously the battery is not the issue. I would like to know what gm intends to do about the faulty wiring in these models and how they are going to correct the issues related to the recall notice I received in October 2012. The recall number is 12180 and I think this current problem is related to it. I received the notice and it states the parts are not available at this time and to park the vehicle outside. I called and asked if it is ok to drive the SUV and was told "yes". Since I must drive across a 5 mile bridge several times a week, I am concerned the truck will break down and cause an accident. I am also concerned a passenger or my pet dog could be injured.

4 Battery Dead problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/15/2012

This was actually the second or third incident where the key got stuck in the ignition, blazer was in park the lights remained on so did the radio anything that is typically on during aux, but this was the beginning of a long problem that lead to me trading off. . The key gets stuck you can not remove it caused the battery to go bad, it would begin to happen often the service engine soon light would come on, the transmission would not shift above 3rd gear, also shortly after the purchase in sept of 2011 the speedometer stopped working. The blazer died 3 times gauges on dash would periodicly stop working. My service 4 wheel would come on randomly the key issue was the biggest problem but it was only a matter of time before other things went wrong. When the key would get stuck in the igintion as stated the transmission would not shift properly in the beginning the transmission would act out once you took it out of park it was noticeable but as the problem became worse it started happening driving down the highway I noticed once that I have successfully made it through 1-2-3 but never got out of 3. I should state that when the key was stuck I would have to manually shift through the first and second then put it into drive otherwise the car had no power because it would be stuck in the higher gear. Tried to contact the dealership as there was a recall on the dash for the 2003 model and they told us it wasnt a safety problem I do not understand how random loss of power and random car dying is not a safety issue, I have been watching the list of gm recalls and I have not seen much about the Trailblazers, and it bothers me that I am sure there are other issues like the ones that I had. On another note transmission related my neighbors just had to get rid of their Trailblazer 2006 for transmission problems.

6 Battery Dead problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/09/2009

Speedometer malfunctions at various times. On carcomplaints. Com there are 46 complaints of speedometer problems with this model vehicle and nothing is being done about them and nobody knows what the fix is. One garage told me the battery was bad so replacing it would fix the problem, it didn't. I had a speed control sensor put in, and that didn't fix the problem either. No warning lights are coming on, so nobody knows what else to do. I don't have any more money to put in this vehicle. The battery and the speed control sensor together have cost me over $200.

8 Battery Dead problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/27/2009

My instrument panel abs, airbag, battery, and brake lights all came on with the temperature, fuel, batter voltage, and oil pressure gauges not working. After a few days my battery went dead. Replaced the battery thinking this was causing the problem then none of gauges worked and all the panel lights were off. Nothing was happening on the instrument panel. Started the car the next day and had original problem. Dealer checked it out and recommended a new instrument panel cluster module at about $475 installed. Very big safety issue if you can't tell what's going on with your car like gas level and engine temperature.

10 Battery Dead problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/10/2009

Battery gauge failed about 6 months ago and I didn't think much of it but now the gas gauge, oil gauge and fuel gauge are failing and according to everything I have read the speedometer is next. My dome lights haven't worked right in over a year but that didn't bother me. The gauges all failing are a safety factor. It occurs everytime I start the SUV - I do not have the money to repair it.

11 Battery Dead problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/04/2008

2005 tb ext, summer of last year the computer had to be replaced, about 6 months ago the speedometer quit working, the check engine light stays on, the gas gauge wont work, the heater wont work on 5 and there is no heat in the front vents, the oil light does not work,, I have had it aligned but the back tires keep going bald,,it looses power so bad,,,,I went out this morning and the headlights wont go off and now my battery is dead. . . What else is left to go wrong??? I have 5 small kids and someone is going to get hurt because this vehicle is defective and no one wants to take responsibility to fix it. . So now when is someone going to fix this problem ?if I spend $24,000 on this used vehicle with only 30,000 miles on it when I bought it Feb 2008 it could at least run decent. . You would think it would be cheaper for Chevrolet to fix this vehicle than to have a lawsuit.

12 Battery Dead problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/13/2005

We are the owner of a 2004 chevy Trailblazer. I would like to file 4 major concerns regarding our vehicle. The first I have brought to the attention of the chevy company. Our Trailblazer was shutting off due to a bad seal somehow connected when the heat/air is running. The vehicle just shuts off and you lose complete control. We had an outside mechanic fix the problem. The second is the loss of our windshield front windshield wipers. They no longer work. The 3rd is the rear molding broke loose from water collecting and then freezing with no way of preventing this from happening. We lost this piece of molding while driving on the highway and it hit a semi truck. The 4th is a major electrical problem that has not be able to be diagnosed. Each morning when starting the vehicle, the SUV will act like the battery is dead and then start. I have had this vehicle in while under warranty and problem was not found. I am quite concerned with this vehicle. I am not sure if others have had these problems, but I would like to have them notated. We are currently on our 3rd battery since 2004.

14 Battery Dead problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/20/2004

1st incident (July 2004): while driving about 20 mph, vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. Could not get it to start and key locked in ignition while truck was still in gear. Other times previous, vehicle took a few times to start. Ignition switch was intermittent. While in for repair first time, found that when vehicle stalled, it lost ignition input. Codes that came up with scan check were u1000, u1016, u1152, b1372 and u1088. Ignition switch was replaced with new, fp#12450251-switch 2. 188 r. All other fuses and wiring to ignition were found to be "ok". 2nd-current incident (October 2006): vehicle took several times to start (same as original problem). Vehicle would turnover but would not start engine. Tried several times before battery died. Current evaluation from service tech is that the ignition switch is bad. Key is locking in ignition and can't move gears. Tow driver had to "jump" battery to get vehicle in and out of neutral for tow and to remove key from ignition. Still waiting on extended warranty provider to approve this replacement (although the original warranty provider is now bankrupt). We may have to pay for this repair out of pocket if warranty issue is not resolved.
