Chevrolet Trailblazer owners have reported 11 problems related to electrical failure (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Failure of the passenger side window while driving in frigid weather. Almost causing a major accident. Contacts and phone consultations with gm customer service and their regional representative for albuquerque, new mexico led nowhere. Gm's regional rep--named eileen, tel. 866-790-5700 ext 41068--was unconcerned about this chronic, documented safety hazard on the Trailblazer. Power window and other electrical failures are known to be common to the Trailblazer. Gm at first suggested they may pick up part of the repair costs, then refused despite acknowledging that this was a common problem with this vehicle. They are unconcerned about my wife being put in severe danger while driving on the highway on a frigid night. We have had multiple electrical failures common to this unsafe vehicle. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The speedometer has broke. It is an electrical thing. Our gas gauge, something electrical has also broke. We had that fixed for $400. 00 and now our speedometer is broke. It never works now, so you don't know how fast you are going.

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving approximately 70 mph, the speedometer read 110 mph. The contact stopped the vehicle for a few minutes to allow the speedometer to reset, but it only decreased to 90 mph. The dealer stated that there was electrical failure and the instrument panel console cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle has not been repaired. The contact must use her gps to determine how fast she is driving. She feels that GMC should be responsible for the repair. The failure mileage was 75,000 and current mileage was 78,734.

We purchased a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer in September 2008. The day we drove it home the entire electrical system shut down. The lights, locks, blinkers, and all gauges were not working. The vehicle was taken back to the Chevrolet dealer and the onstar module was replaced. A few months later the electrical system failed again, this has happened 3 more times since purchasing the vehicle 3 years ago. The vehicle has also had the check engine and stabilitrack lights turn on and off numerous times. . . Sometimes for a day or two, sometimes for a week. The vehicle has been in the shop more than 13 times in 3 years for electrical related problems, several electrical modules have been replaced. My grandmother has the same vehicle and has had the same type of problems with the electrical system.

Bad electrical problem. My side mirrors arent working at all. My rear brake lights are always inoperative. I always get a constant vibration comming from the engine. My gaerbox sometimes freezes or gets stuck. Poor fuel efficiency.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While the vehicle is being driven or idling, the electrical system shuts down. The failure occurred at night when shutting off the headlights and the instrument panel; however, the engine does not shut off, only the electrical system. The failure has occurred on six occasions. Speed was not a factor. The dealer replaced one of the circuit panels, but the electrical system continues to fail. The contact stated that the dealer was giving them the run around after extending the electrical system warranty to 100,000 miles. She also stated that there has been electrical failure since the vehicle was purchased. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 50,000 and failure mileage was 5,000. The consumer stated the problem still exists. Updated 12/04/07.
Bought vehicle used in 2005, had 56,000 miles on it at the time. At 76,000 miles the speedometer went out completely had to be replaced. Replaced the speedometer $500. 00 cost. In 2007, the dashboard and all the gauges started going crazy, had it checked at a chevy dealer they confirmed it was an electrical problem that was not covered under my warranty and was gonna cost way to much to fix. Later in 2009 the alarm system decided it wouldn't work anymore, or it would set itself. (got locked in the car for at least 20 minutes or more, wouldn't start either to reset the process), the remote key wouldn't work as well. Had it inspected again, full diagnostic done by the chevy dealer & also by firestone, every issue that the car has is related to the electrical system failing constantly. Headlights go off and on when they feel like it, hit them they come back on sometimes, tail lights have gone out, no need to replace bulbs that is not the issue. Full diagnostic cost money, I have called the better business bureau to see what I could do to make chevy pay for this disfunctioning vehicle but, of course it is a bunch of red tape and political bull crap. I do not recommend this vehicle to anyone too much money will be lost and still no results. Currently my vehicle has over 100,000 miles on it and the gauges still go out every now and then, the headlights still go out and the alarm still sets itself when it feels like it. I pray over this vehicle everytime I get in it.

Ac delco professional battery maintenance free 19001810 catalog 1810 (replacement 78-6yr) has green hydrometer color but a sense acid smell around. 2. - two business appointments were cancelled and no way to go out with the car. I called the dealership for assistance Friday 18, 7:30 p. M. And leave a voicemail. The dealer return the phone call Saturday 19, 7:30 a. M. Later I call back 9:00 a. M. And ask them what they think about and where to start. . . With the battery?? but they said that they are booked and not able to take any other appointment until Monday. . . . Just in case how much would be. . 75 $ plus labor 25 $ total around 100 $. Consequences: two potential business opportunities were lost as well as the opportunity of car enjoyment and freedom. The ac delco web site said that "the battery that comes with a gm vehicle is covered by the limited warranty of three years or 36,000 miles" it is really not fair how a battery can lose it positive terminal itself and why consumer is not covered against this defect that involve time and money as well as opportunities and major accidents. 3. - Saturday 19, 10 a. M. I called a friend to find another battery. Before that we take out the ac delco battery from the car the positive terminal was completely separated from the case and acid was leaking. . . It is unbelievable. The ac delco battery has a green hydrometer indication. The battery was replaced with another brand expenses of $ 80. 99 without consideration of timing, driving and gas used by my friend and mine to replaced the ac delco battery that had positive terminal completely separated .

This vehicle has had multiple failures in the last 12 months. Left side brake light replaced two times before brake light circuit board was replaced. Right side headlight failure, bulb replaced. Ac quit working. Two trips to the dealer to a find compressor failure. The compressor was replaced. Latest and worst failure was a total electrical failure. Only the items controlled by the rap were functional. The vehicle quit running in the middle of the road. Could not be restarted and the transmission could not be moved from the park position. Vehicle had to be left in the middle of the road and abandon for safety of the passengers. This was also a hazard to other vehicles. If there is an override to get the vehicle out of gear it should be in the owners manual. The vehicle had to be dragged up on the two truck. Vehicle is at the dealer and no resolution to the problem has been found.
