Front Air Bag Problems of Chevrolet Trailblazer

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While the contact was driving 35 mph he crashed into another vehicle and then into a light pole which destroyed the vehicle; however, during the crash none of the air bags deployed. The driver and passenger were injured. No one was injured in the other vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed by the dealership who stated that no failures could be found. There were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 95,272 updated 03/30/10. According to gm, the notice on the dash readout stated the air bags deployed. Updated 06/30/10.

I drove to the airport I got there early and my son was sleeping so my cousin and I decided to take a little nap as well. It was thanksgiving week. It was very cold outside so we started the car to warm it up after about an hour, then my son woke up so we decided to start getting everything ready to get on the shuttle. Remember we are parked in a parking lot and have not moved for over an hour. We got my son out of his seat brought him to the front seat with us, I was getting his diaper bag ready and my cousin was changing his diaper and putting his shoes on for me. When she was done my son wanted me and as soon as he got to the middle console, out of no where the front airbags deployed, on both sides drivers and passengers side! luckily none of us were hurt and my son was where he was or he would have been severely injured he was only 18 months at the time of the incident! as soon as I got home I called general motors myself and reported the incident and they made an appointment with me to investigate what could have made this happen. They said they found nothing, so obviously there was a default somewhere. I have been trying to get help for months now and I am getting no where. I could trade it in but without airbags I am losing a couple thousand dollars. Both sides are still all open and not fixed I do not have the money to fix them, I do not and did not want to sue, I would just be happy with a trade in so I can have a safe vehicle for my family and myself.

According to NHTSA campaign id number: 06v417000 and gm recall no. 06102 my vehicle should be included in this recall. When I tried calling the number listed 1-877-477-1022 it is a non working number. When I contacted chevy customer service the person I spoke with was rather rude and not helpful.

: the contact stated although there were no previous problems with the airbags, there was a NHTSA recall, #06v417000 on the vehicle regarding the airbags and repurchase of the vehicle. The dealer and manufacturer were alerted, and confirmed the vehicle was subject for repurchase, but have not done so at this time.

The manufacturer's hotline was contacted who recommended that all documents relating to the vehicle be faxed to the manufacturer. The contact received confirmation that the paperwork was received and was directed to take the vehicle to the dealer for a vehicle exchange. When the vehicle was taken to the dealer they were unaware of how to handle the recall of the entire vehicle. The dealer and the manufacturer have been in conference regarding how to handle this recall for a while and there was an expiration on how the vehicle can be held.

I drive a 2002 chevy Trailblazer 4wd and my son was driving the vehicle on halloween night. He was driving the speed limit of 30 mph and swerved to avoid a possum in the road, he overcorrected and lost control of the car causing the car to colide with a tree at the front panel and driver's side door. Upon impact the air bag did not inflate and the car immediately caught fire. Luckily my son was able to crawl out the passenger side window but this could have been a terrible situation. We would like to know why the airbag did not inflate and why the car would have caught on fire with a driver's side impact?.

I was driving a chevy Trailblazer rented from hertz on December 29, 2004. On highway 285 near mile marker 189. 5, I encountered black ice on a curve. The vehicle started a 4-wheel drift into the oncoming lane. I attempted to avoid colliding with another vehicle that had spun out. The abs did not work. There was no stability control. I struck an embankment and the vehicle flipped over. Although there was both frontal and side impact, no airbags deployed. It is my belief that the chevy Trailblazer is inherently unsafe. There is no way this vehicle should have rolled over at the speed at which I was driving.

Consumer's vehicle was involved in a head on crash at 65 mph, and rear ended. Upon impact, frontal air bags deployed. Driver and a child sustained injuries, and they were transported to the local hospitals by private vehicle. Driver sustained injuries to the neck, upper/lower back/left shoulder separated, and a sprained left wrist and left elbow. Child sustained a sprained right wrist.

While driving at 40 mph consumer's vehicle was involved in a frontal collision. Consumer was wearing seat belts, but none of the air bags deployed. Consumer sustained a broken nose,scrapes, and bruises to chest and wrist.

Consumer lost steering and hit a tree head on. In addition, the seat belt failed to lock causing injuries to the consumer (driver). (lawyer on behalf of client rebecca doyle). The airbag also burned/injured the passenger. The vehicle experienced electrical problems with the brake lights, tail lights, fuel gauge, left seat belt, dash (computer readout) and the brakes pulled.

We where hit broadside buckling the floor roof tearing the complete front end out of the truck and no air bags deployed side or front.

While traveling about 40mph the vehicle was involved with a frontal collision. Neither airbag deploy please provide additional information. Dealer is aware of the problem. Ts.

While driving approximately 58 mph in rainy weather with a trailer attached, trailer started to fishtail while going down hill. Trailer had swung around and broke free of the hitch and hit the side of truck. Truck grazed an enbankment, and went into the medium strip, hitting another vehicle head on. Vehicle was totaled, and driver suffered a head injury and fractured vertebrate. Neither air bag deployed upon the frontal impact. Please describe details.
