The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the air bag warning light would intermittently illuminate and the rpm gauge would continue to fluctuate between rpms. The dealer performed a diagnostic and found that the instrument panel was failing. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated the seat belts would not operate and the instrument panel completely failed. The failure mileage was 58,000 and the current mileage was 73,000.

The contact stated that the speedometer is stuck at 110 mph and has not changed with continuous driving. He is in the process of taking the vehicle to the dealer and notifying the manufacturer. 2003 chevy Trailblazer instrument panel failure. About 2 yrs ago the tach. Quit working or reads incorrectly. Currently the speedometer and now the temp. And gas gauge have quit or give erroneous readings. I was told other truck models have been recalled but not the Trailblazer. This is a dangerous situation for the operation of the vehicle, I have to get it fixed at my own expense.
Instrument panel failure: owner states that instrument/gauge panel began to fail at or about 39,000 miles when the temperature was below 38' f degrees, that same year during the summer months speed gauge began to malfunction followed by all other gauges(rpm,gas,temp) at 50,000 miles, regardless of weather conditions. Instrument cluster panel failure causing speedometer to not work creating a safety hazard- gm will do nothing about it.
Speedometer fails to report the proper speed,at times it starts out at 80 mph and go up to 120 mph sitting still, at times the whole instruments panel fails ( fuel gauge temp gauge voltage meter ).
Chevrolet Trailblazer - instrument panel cluster failure. Tachometer inoperative and erratic with only 42k miles on vehicle. Understand that this is also a symptom for the remaining gauges in the cluster. Gm has special service bulletin that addresses this issue for all other truck products except envoy and Trailblazer.

When taken to the Chevrolet dealer to determine cause of the problem with the speedometer and the instrument cluster they are aware that this is a very common problem with Trailblazers. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired for the exhaust manifold crack, the water pump, the evaporator cord, the headlight wiring harness (which melted and caused the light bulb to fail), the hub assembly, the instrument panel cluster, the motor blower resistor wires, and the door locks. The contact also stated that the rear windows would not open or close and the rear hatch lock system and instrument panel cluster failures persisted. There was a separate occasion the entire instrument panel failed to function. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Since purchasing the vehicle, the headlamps flicker or dim while driving, similar to a power surge. The dealer was initially unable to duplicate the failure. When the failure was able to be duplicated, the dealer was unable to make a repair. At the end of September of 2007, the steering column made a sparking sound and the dealer could not duplicate the failure once more. On September 20, 2007, the radio and all the components on the instrument panel failed intermittently. The vehicle had to be turned off and restarted for them to eventually operate again. In addition, the dome lights would remain illuminated. The driver's side door latches were replaced twice. The rear hatchback latch was replaced twice. When the key was removed from the ignition, the key buzzer would continue to sound. On January 25, 2008, the rear wiper motor was replaced and failed again on March 4, 2008. The current mileage was 36,182 and failure mileage was 70. Updated 4/2/08 the consumer stated the emblem on the rear tailgate loosing color, brake pads and rotors are worn. Updated 04/02/08.
