Chevrolet Trailblazer owners have reported 4 problems related to owners/service manual (under the equipment category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Shut off vehicle , got out of drivers side. Shut door and as I closed door all my locks on door locked down. My grandaughter was strapped into a car seat in the back seat and we were unable to open doors to get her out. We had to contact police and they were unable to get doors to unlock. The locks would not work the windows would not work , the car was completely locked down . After 30 minutes of trying to get I to car we finally got my grandaughter to squeeze out of her car seat upon coaxing her we got her to get her car seat belt unlocked , she tried pushing the door lock buttons but nothing would work, we had her try to use window buttons but they would not work either , we tried having her manually unlock door but they would. Unlock but door would not unlock. Upon despair we had her take key out of ignition and I carefully had her push unlock button on key chain and finally they engaged and unlocked the doors and windows and we got her out. This could of been a real dangerous incident if she would of not been able to follow my directions thank god she was Smart. Or of car would of been running I don't know what could of happened . This has then happened numerous times while I was in passenger side while my husband went I to bank and store. I became locked in the car . I think this ness to be investigated because I have read this happening to many Trailblazers owners. This could be a very dangerous situation.

I was driving my '02 chevy Trailblazer on the interstate. The vehicle slipped and fishtailed a bit and I pressed the brakes to bring the vehicle to a stop. When the vehicle came to a stop, I tried to accelerate forward, but it would not move. The vehicle had not turned off on its own. I manually shut off the engine and restarted the vehicle and proceeded to move onto the shoulder of the interstate. I then noticed smoke and a small flame coming from under the hood near the front passenger tire/wheelhouse. The flames got bigger and soon it spread to the entire engine. The flames started near the right passenger wheelhouse and moved to the left driver wheelhouse. In about 20 minutes the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. I have no idea how or why a fire started. I looked at forums online and many vehicles like mine have caught on fire while driving.

While driving, my headlights will intermittently turn off on their own. This does not happen frequently but has occurred several times per month for about 3 months duration. I had experienced this same event about 6 times before contacting gm directly. I contacted gm directly due to the fact that I consider this problem to be a safety issue. This vehicle is equipped with automatic headlights which turn on when darkness is detected. This automatic activation cannot be overridden with manual controls when the headlights turn off unexpectedly. I attempted to pull over and manually turn the headlights back on without resolution. I attempted to turn off the vehicle's ignition and restart the engine without resolution. Nothing I could do would make the headlights turn back on. The headlights seem to have a mind of their own and will eventually turn back on but this is completely random, sometimes taking a few minutes or maybe up to 20 minutes. A certified gm service center claimed the issue to be with the body control module and provided an estimate for replacement. I elected to not have the dealer replace the body control module for a significant amount of money. I instead started searching for another solution. I turned to the internet and found that this same issue has been reported on this make of vehicle since at least 2002 continuing until the late 2000's. Gm informed me over the phone that they had not heard of this issue before. The certified gm service center claimed that they have not heard of this issue before. A simple google search will tell you a different story. I ultimately followed the direction of a youtube video which directed me to replace a relay located on the vehicle's fuse plate. The cost of the part was approximately $30. My headlights are working again. In my opinion gm should issue a recall for this part and not the body control module.

On the back of my 2005 Trailblazer the seal around the license plate was melting . It ran like black tar. Talked with other owners, and they all had the same problem. Was part on recall. Had it replaced just after I bought the car, but the problem recurred.
