The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to shift out of first gear. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

3 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/11/2013

The indicated vehicle is my wife's. We bought it brand new on 09/26/2001. She has never towed anything and has city and highway miles. We have had numerous problems: instrument cluster, rear tailgate strap, right rear brake light, (3) solenoids, spare tire dropdown and deteriorated transmission lines. I have repaired all of the previous out of pocket (except for the strap and the spare tire dropdown). Now, my wife was on the way to the bicycle store in her truck, with the bicycle on the back. She was making a turn onto the main road when she heard grinding and squealing, and the speed dropped drastically. Luckily, it was around 10am when there is not much traffic on the road. Reading numerous posts on this website, it is the same problem everyone has had, the transmission sun shell, and no reverse. With 98911 miles, I was about to spend the weekend changing the fluid in the transmission to keep it to spec. Now, I'm looking at a very expensive bill of which I cannot afford. $30 is easier than $1200. And, I'm a manufacturing engineer, so I check fluids regularly, even though the oil change stations check them. Seeing that there are problems with these components, I think that general motors should produce a recall. I'm very disappointed that with all of the complaints, nothing has been done to remedy the situation. We will be calling the dealer that we bought the vehicle from first thing Monday morning.

4 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/04/2010

Driving to work soon as pull off the trans does not want to shift into second gear till you reach at least 2500 rpm's or higher and then jerks you in your seat. Only does this from 1st to 2nd gear shift, all other shift work proper. Could not make it to work that day (resulting in me being fired) instead had to take it to the transmission shop in which I paid 160 dollars to change solenoids, filter and fluid. This did not fix the problem. Had 55,000 miles when this happened. The trans guy says it needs a rebuild which is in upwards of $2000. Vehicle is 2006 Trailblazer ss awd model. A $45,000 vehicle with a bad trans at 55,000 miles is ridiculous. I have now 56,000 miles.

5 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/11/2007

I purchased a 2002 chevy Trailblazer the transmission went out at 15053 miles with previous owner 2-3 shift solenoid in transmission replaced. The transmission went out with me at 33431 miles, still under factory warranty. Dealership found shell stripped out reaction carrier teeth broke replaced all clutches replaced 2/4 band. At 83029 miles transmission went out with me again. Vehicle is now out of warranty. Dealership found reaction sun gear stripped inside reaction sun shell. Replaced sun gear and shell & o/h transmission. I called gm customer service and asked them to replace the entire transmission because I felt something was causing these parts to keep going bad and this is the 3rd time. I felt there could be one part that came from the factory in this transmission as a defect. Gm agreed to pay parts if I paid labor to replace parts not replace complete transmission. This cost me $840. 00. Now it is 119000 miles and transmission gone again. I called gm to explain to them that this is the 4th time and I requested a new transmission and a refund of my $840. 00 from last time because for some reason this transmission has a pattern of going out at approximately every 30 to 40000 miles. Gm would not assist me with any assistance. The diagnostic this time shows would not shift out of 1st but to determine what parts were bad it would have to be broken down. I was hoping gm would assist me in this matter but I seem to get no where. I hope you can help!.

6 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/26/2005

1. My car broke down on my way to work, approximately 27 miles into the trip. I turned onto a side street, and when I started accelerating, a loud screeching sound started as I entered 2nd gear. I immediately pulled over. 2. My husband gently drove it to the dealer and they assumed it was the sun shell spline. However, in order to find out, they wanted to charge me $455 to pull the transmission. We decided against it, fearing the high cost of repair and took it to a local mechanic. 3. Mechanic replaced the sun shell spline, pressure control solenoid and manifold pressure switch. Cost = $1,222. 66 + $84. 00 diagnostic at dealer. We have the sun shell spline. Repairs were completed on June 2nd. Then, on June 5, the condensor on the a/c went out. Took it to the dealer because chevy stated that was the only way they could help me (no help on the transmission). Cost to repair = $261. 34.
