Failure Date: 09/03/2025

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph through a green light, another vehicle failed to yield at 50 mph for a red light due to being impaired, causing a collision in which the contact’s vehicle was t-boned. No warning lights were illuminated before the crash. The front and side curtain air bags failed to deploy. The contact reported that no injuries were immediately sustained, and no medical attention was provided at the scene. However, the contact was later transported to a local emergency facility and diagnosed with a back injury. A police report was filed. . The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the air bags, service brakes, and battery of the vehicle had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

2 12v/24v/48v Battery problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 05/09/2022

The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The parking brake symbol also displayed on the instrument panel. Additionally, the instrument panel then went blank. The contact drove the vehicle to his residence and parked the vehicle. The contact then noticed that after turning the vehicle off, the radio remained on and the contact was unable to manually turn off the radio. The contact attempted to start the vehicle the following day and the battery was drained. The contact had the vehicle jump started and drove the vehicle to a dealer who attempted to diagnose the vehicle however, all the data had been erased. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 29,700.

3 12v/24v/48v Battery problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 04/04/2022

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse . The contact stated that while at a complete stop and attempting to come out of auto stop the vehicle would not restart. The contact stated once the vehicle restarted the vehicle hesitated. The contact stated while the vehicle was stopped at a stop light the vehicle drifted backwards and stalled. The contact also stated while attempting to start their vehicle it wouldn't start. The contact states the vehicle made an abnormal sound as if the engine will stall. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after multiple attempts and having the vehicle jumped. The contact then continued to drive, and once stopped again at a stop light the vehicle stalled and would not restart. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer who diagnosed and replaced the alternator. The contact stated following the alternator repair the service battery "battery charging system service" message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact stated after clearing the message a "battery saver mode" alert came across the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they diagnosed the failure as the battery and a sensor. The battery and the sensors were replaced however the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to reach out to the states attorney general and contact the NHTSA hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.
