36 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

timing chain. Recently engine light appears on and goes off while driving my 2011 chevy Traverse lt 3. 6l with almost 113,000 miles. I used my scanner and codes p0008 and p0017 appeared. After doing my research I discovered that, 1. The codes are for the engine timing chain. 2. Tons of customers that own the same make, model and year as mine along with many different gm model vehicles that have the 3. 6 l engine, are having the same code and engine problem. 3. Gm knows about this issue since they have extended the warranty up to 120,000 miles on some of the 2011 chevy Traverse's and other gm makes and models. Gm advised me that my VIN is not covered and I should bring my vehicle to the closest gm dealer to have them diagnose the problem. I brought my vehicle to adams Chevrolet located in havre DE grace, maryland on 01/10/19. Adams Chevrolet tech stats: found codes p0008 and 0017. Found timing is not in sync due to faulty timing chains. Stated customer declined repairs at this time. Customer would need to replace timing chains and actuators. I contacted gm a second time a few days after I brought my vehicle to adams Chevrolet, the gm employee stated that she will note everything and has my current address and phone number on file if they need to get ahold of me. She stated again my VIN is not covered and that I should keep in touch with a customer service employee from a gm dealership and see if they will work with me on a price at my expense. I have had an issue with the power steering while driving in 2018 and adams Chevrolet recently advised me that there is an extended warranty on the power steering as well but timing chain is not covered on my VIN. My 2011 Chevrolet Traverse timing chain and /or issues related to that problem needs rplaced for free or I will gracefully accept a new vehicle from gm for free and you can have my Traverse back. Respectfully, dylan.

37 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2018

Stabilitrack needs serviced , abs light on , traction control failure . Power loss . Just driving through town approximately 30 mph and all errors started flashing . This is a safety concern . I have read multiple complaints on the same issue with no results.

38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

While the vehicle is stationary or being driven the traction control turns off, the stabilizer goes out, and the engine power reduces. I was on the highway and I lost power going from 65 mph down to 25-30 mph. I had to pull over and shut off the car, waited for 15 minutes and started driving again. I hadn't gone far and all the warnings came up again and power was reduced. While driving in town the same thing happens and I can be going 25 mph and the power goes down to 10 mph. Warning lights say traction 'control off, stabilizer off, engine power reduced. All of this happens while the vehicle is stationary or being driven!!!.

39 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2018

While the vehicle was crossing a the I-395 bridge into washington DC at 45 mph, the engine suddenly failed taking out the power steering with a jerk to the left. This failure was not precipitated by an engine warning light or a change to the ride and feel of the vehicle.

40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2018

I got my car 6 months ago, so far the brakes went out, rotors went out, all struts had to be reolaced, heater broke, air conditioner leakes, and now timing chains need to be replaved. I found an inspection completed 2 weeks before I bought my car done at another dealership. The list of issues is scary.

41 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2018

My vehicle has tie rod loose, leaky motor rack, rear valve cover leak, brakes and rotors loose, control arm loose, all wheels corroded, front strut leaks.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2018

While driving down the interstate I attempted to pass a vehicle at 70 mph when suddenly the vehicle lost all power. I was not able to get to the right lane so I had no choice but to pull off to the left where I was being passed by vehicles going 70 plus mph next to a cement barrier. The vehicle wouldn't restart or give any indication of doing so. After having it towed to the local chevy dealer I was told that the timing chain busted and seized up the engine. I contacted chevy and they stated since the vehicle has 129400 moles on it there was nothing they could do about it because it was out of warranty. They stated they had no complaints of this being a problem but that contradicts what multiple chevy dealers have told me. The engine in the 2011 chevy Traverse is apparently known to have this problem so the engines are hard to find. Upon further research I found multiple sites where customers have also stated the same problem. This vehicle seats 7 passengers. While I was alone on this particular date it is not always the case. I could have had my family with and may not have been able to pull to safety (as scarry as it was being stranded on a four lane interstate). Chevy fails to acknowledge that this is not only a mechanical issue but also a huge safety concern. This is not a two seater economy vehicle but a 7 seater family vehicle.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2018

So far I have had nothing but issues with my SUV, bought a 2009 for 6,000 and had to pt 7,200 in it to get it running right. I traded it in at the dealership it was being diagnosed at thankfully. Now I have a 2011 and starting to have many issues unfortunately. First it started 3700 miles after I got my 2011 by leaving me with no power steering while trying to make a turn and almost wrecked 3 times going to the hospital. I was able to put power steering fluid in and got my power steering back but immediately took it back to the dealer. They said if I came in at 3500 miles they would have replaced the pump and whole rack under warrenty, but they didnt. So I gotta top it off every few months, no big deal. Suspension has been replaced twice, rough idle, tuned up 3 times in 42,373 miles. A/c only blows cold on driver side now, it makes a different noise every day and the dealership says I need to have the engine dropped and timing chain replaced. I cant drop 2400 bucks on something that doesnt fix the problem! way too many negative outcomes that I've read on the timing chain issue. People that have had the engine replaced had better luck than a rebuild. This is absurd because it's a great family vehicle but with these issues I really dont want to buy american made cars anymore.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2018

Purchased new and at 63,500 miles the engine malfunctioned. Started missing/hesitating on highway heading 2 hours away for a wedding. Dealer wants over $7k to repair cracked piston/valve in cylinder 4. According to chevy/gm customer assistance (opened case #8-4134087852), dealer told them it had low oil, which is incorrect because my husband always checks the oil, even at the gas station while filling up and is meticulous with maintenance. We have the receipts and maintenance log to prove it. Also, low oil would cause bearing problems, which we don't have. Gm offering some sort of goofy assistance that is backwards and will cost us even more. Thoroughly disgusted with my Traverse, which was supposed to eventually replace my 2000 GMC safari van, which is very much alive with original trans and engine at over 165k miles. I see lots of internal damage/engine issues - why no recall? I wonder who they paid off to avoid this financial nightmare. . .

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2018

2011 Traverse only 67000 miles on it but experience engine error code p0008 and p0017 which indicates something wrong with timing chain. 2009 model of Traverse has the same problem and is covered under extended warranty by gm. But 2011 model is not covered, and will cost $3000 to fix and repaire.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2017

Driving the Traverse started to smell wires burning in the cabin dashlights started going crazy and dinging . Was about a mile to where I could pull over safely . . Started to pull off the breaks and steering seemed to stop working and the vehicle died. . I nearly hit bridge pillar not being able to steer or stop. . The car was full with myself 4 children and a newborn. . I am told the motor is ruined and no one can pinpoint the other problems. . The repair costs are around 6000$ which have not been done because honestly I'm scared for my life to fix this vehicle and drive it. .

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2017

The timing chain needed to be replaced at 113,000 miles. This was a know flaw by gm as problems occurred in the 2009 and 2010 Traverse engine that resulted in reimbursements for repairs. The 2011 Traverse has the same problem and the cost to repair is about $4,500. Gm should reimburse for this issue as the flaw has not been fixed in 2011 model.

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2017

I keep getting codes for emission and timings chain. My back up safety sensor and wheel sensor doesn't work.

50 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2017

I was on my way home from dinner when the engine started revving on it's own and the car began jerking. I pulled to the side of the road and the engine killed. I restarted the vehicle and noted that the battery was suppling enough power and the temperature gage was normal. At this time, the lights started to flicker, the rpms were going up and down fairly quickly and the windows and locks were clicking. I was able to get the vehicle home (5 miles), but the problems persisted the entire drive. The second I would let me foot off the gas pedal, the engine would kill. I took it to the mechanic and he said when he hooked it up to the machine to see what the problem was, there was so much wrong he couldn't actually tell what was causing what. The computer and engine both were recommended to be replaced. I let him know as well it had become more difficult in the last few months to turn the wheel when going at a slow speed and virtually impossible to park. He stated it is a known issue with this make, model and year. The steering, the computer and the engine he has seen multiple customers have problems with.

A beep occurs and an error - no traction control off - service stabilitrack - engine power reduced; the vehicle has 110k miles and this have never happend before. These errors have accured when the vehicle is in motion and also right as you start it up. Dealership has offed to "try to fix" the issue for the tune of $5000 however they do not know if it will actully fix the issue. So chevy what are you going to do about this?.

59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2017

I had contacted chevy corporate on the steering issue on my car while it was still under warranty. Needless to say there were no help. I went to the dealership many times because of the steering alone. Since then I have other issues with my 2011 Traverse. Now the car shuts while driving. It sounds like a lot of gm owners of different vehicles are having the same issue. I guess there will not be a recall until someone dies over this. Some of the issues included all 4 struts were bad under 100,000 miles, rack and pinion going up, steering issues, leaking from the steering column, 3 times the ac actuator has gone up, issues with the lift gate failing, life gate one time injured my father-in-law, timing chain failing prematurely, and now the stabilitrak and traction control is going off. The vehicle shuts up while driving! my wife got stuck on a bridge and was put in danger due to this. Now the Traverse sits in the driveway. My wife said a warning was displayed about reducing engine power. The Traverse went down to 20mpg and then shut off on a bridge. This is very unsafe and needs to be investigated.

Failure Date: 06/29/2015

The car just completely stopped. No warning no lights no oil light no service engine. Just quit going down the road at 60mph with my children in the car. Now I am being told it is the motor. I have serviced the car I should have and treated it very well. There is not one reason a 2011 should just quit. I also had a issues with traction control in the dead of winter the car would flash traction control off engine will lose speed service stablitrack and the car would drop from 65mph right to 25mph in 5 seconds flat which was extremely dangerous any time of year not just winter. Get those 2011 Chevrolet Traverses off the road.

68 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2015

While driving home from my mother's house, my 2011 chevy Traverse suddenly, and without warning lost power. The warning "engine power reduced" came up. This made my car go from 45mph to 25 mph at an extremely alarming rate while on a busy highway. This is not the first instance of this happening with this particular year model. I have read many forums today, all filled with people having the same problem. Apparently gm is doing nothing to correct the problem. It seems they are waiting for multiple injuries or god forbid deaths before they react. I just bought this car 2 months ago, and have put a little over 10,000 miles on it. Have had the oil changed, and yet, just from reading some of the other complaints listed on the forums I have read I feel like I may be at a loss on this vehicle. I emplor you to do something about this. Too many hard working people have spent too much money on these vehicles to allow gm to get away with this. I feel I may be stuck making payments for a car that can't be driven. Sincerely, sean simmons.

69 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

While driving down the highway at speeds of 60 mph, my car started losing power and slowing down in the middle of the highway! I have googled this problem and other consumers have this issue as well.
