I was stopped at a red light in rush hour traffic in the middle of three lanes. When the traffic light turned green, I pressed the accelerator and the engine revved, but the the vehicle did not accelerate in a normal manner. The cel came on in the dic along with a message "reduced acceleration. Drive with care. " I was able to slowly change lanes and turn into a parking lot while cars maneuvered around me to avoid a collision. I was unable to exceed 10mph while surrounding traffic was moving approximately 50mph presenting a safety hazard. Per an onstar on-demand diagnostic scan, the pcm indicates a p0746 code. The vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer. The dealer indicated the transmission will be repaired under warranty. There were no warnings (slipping gears, rough shifts) prior to the incident. The vehicle has less than 3200 miles on it.
Vehicle had known service bulletin transmission shudder and told torque converter failure for vehicle with only 57000 miles. Vehicle already had tcm and transmission control and flush services at 9,000 and 15,000 miles. Gm did 50/50 split of bill since 5 year power warranty was expired. Gm should be paying these entire costs to customers for a known quality issue documented in numerous service bulletins for the Traverse.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop and shifting the vehicle into park, the "action required shift to park" warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was turned off however, the instrument panel lights remained powered on. The contact exited the vehicle and an audible alert was sounded indicating that the vehicle was still on and running. The contact was also unable to securely lock the vehicle. The contact was unable to start the vehicle the following day because the battery had drained overnight. The contact stated that the failure occurred three times previously however, the battery had not been drained on those occasions. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer, where it was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,400.

For no reason the service stabiltrak light comes on. The gages start going on their own. The vehicle goes into limp mode while driving. It has happened on highways, city roads. I have taken it to a dealership "who said I cant make it reciprocate so I just reprogrammed the tcm, and if that doesnt work I will recommend anew tcm. " in short they have no idea. I have taken it to an independent mechanic who was able to trouble shoot it back to the fuel control system module vs comm module. However. I think there is more to it than that. Chevy needs to fix this issue it's a very common issue on Traverse forums. Nhsta please do something about this issue someone is going to die.

2013 chevy Traverse w/ 120k miles: while driving 75mph on the freeway the entire car shut off. Everything went black, and I couldn't depress brakes, or turn the steering wheel to move to the shoulder. I panicked as I was in the middle of the desert with my 5 year old. Unacceptable! within minutes the car came back and went into limp mode and I was able to make it to a gas station. Check engine light, traction control service, park assist off, and stability control service all came on. Pulled codes and they were all transmission control module codes. When I disconnected the battery, the car would start just fine but would replicate the problem if I drive it beyond a mile. Was told the tranny needed to be replaced ($3000). I had my uncle, a 25+year experienced mechanic, look at it and said the tranny was fine and believes it is electrical and one of the control modules must not be communicating properly. His exact words were this car is possessed, it is doing the weirdest stuff. It can't be the tranny because if it were it wouldn't just come back to life on its own without repair. There are a plethora of complaints online concerning this exact same issue, yet no recall or investigation whatsoever. We replaced the alternator twice in 4 months as well due to failure. Voltage gauge is constantly jumping from 12v to 16v. The rear controls to the a/c dials are extremely hot to the touch as well. It's very strange. Every mechanic friend that has worked on it says get rid of it because they're the worst cars and they see nothing but problems. Conveniently, it happens just outside of the warranty period. Unfortunately we still owe 15k on it. Shame on gm for ignoring these major issues for the sake of doing major repairs on so many affected vehicles.

Door locks unlock/lock and then the car seems to go into neutral and the rpm goes to about 7,000. This has killed the engine twice. Gm has assigned a case number 8-423-8930914. Tcm, catalytic converter and neutral switch had been replaced and no change. Happens at various speeds - 75, 55,40,8mph and stopped. This has happened at least 30 times in the 34 days that we have owned it. It has been into the dealership four times.

Experienced an issue with reduced engine power/stabilitrak/traction off. This happened suddenly without warning while I was headed home work. Engine reving unable to move at normal speed I took it to the dealership & was told it was 3 broken wires on the tcm. Got the truck back and all seemed ok, then less than 1 week later after pulling out of my driveway chmes started dinging, check engine light started flashing, traction contol light came on, dic showed "service stibilitrack" and "service traction control" it is at the dealership now. . .
June 2016, approx. 114,000 mi - felt a lurch in stop & go traffic; flashed "service stabilitrak," "service traction control," "backup alerts = off". The check engine light appeared. A few miles down the road when traffic sped up, I realized I only had one gear and could not accelerate above 60mph. A serious problem on the interstate! several hours later, the check engine light remained on, but the car drove normally -- straight to the repair shop, where it was deemed to need $2400 in transmission repair due to the following fault codes: p182e & c0561. They will replace the transmission mode shift sensor and the transmission control module. The mechanic also informed us that we will eventually need a $700 repair for the control arms in the rear suspension -- ge has corrected a known fault in the parts. All this is on top of a $3000 repair done in April 2015 at 92,500 mi. For known steering defects. In that case, as the Traverse warmed up, the power steering got hard to turn. Gm repaired part of the problem at no cost, replacing power steering pump and gear housing. Another mechanic completed the replacement of the rack and pinion assembly that was also part of the problem. These are both substantial defects and repairs needed in a vehicle that was expected to last much longer before needing more than routine maintenance.
Failed tcm module , causing transmission to race and slip constant transmission leaks.

Vehicle with auto transmission was switched from reverse to drive position on flat surface. When driver moved foot from brake to gas pedal vehicle lurched backward striking pole. The vehicle was also observed lurching forward when reverse lights were on. Dealership replaced tcm control solenoid valve and reprogramed.
Water pump replaced in March 2013, covered under warranty. Hvac actuator also replaced at this time. 2000 mile trip made after repair and upon return engine suffered catastrophic failure on April 2, 2013. Diagnosis catastrophic failure of the 3rd cylinder. Cause unknown. Occurred during morning commute on heavily trafficked highway. Children were in car when it stalled. Had to be pushed from center lane of traffic and then towed to dealer. One week after car returned from engine replacement, leak appeared in hvac. Leak repaired and car retrieved April 29, 2013. A week to the day of the car being repaired, service stabilitrak system light came on. Power steering seemed non existent and check engine light appeared. This problem required replacement of internal mode switch, reprogramming of electronic control module and transmission control module. Car retrieved may 7, 2013. Car returned but steering wheel still difficult to turn and squeaks when in use. Problem seems to worsen with increasing temperatures. Additionally, radio will not always shut off after driver door opened. Service stated they could not reproduce problem but happens frequently to driver. 4 serious service requirements in two months for a 2. 5 year old car with under 60k miles. Chevrolet certainly doesn't make a vehicle to last and this vehicle is certainly not a car to call safe or reliable.
