2 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 01/08/2021

2019 Traverse was traveling down road about one mile from starting location car shut off and all dashboard lights came on than noticed smoke from the engine compartment. , flames shorty after. Fd was called and arrived and put out fire. A fluid trail was noticed behind car leading to our house (1 mile away). No issues with the car up to this point. Car was towed and insurance called, notified gm the next day after seeing a recall on leaking transmission (this VIN is not on that list). Gm basically said that once we called the insurance company there is nothing they can do for us. Insurance company (allstate) said they will look into this. Car was a lease and we have no recourse. It seems fishy to me that some models have a recall and this appears to be some kind kind of leak from that area. If gm doesn't care how will they know if this recall needs to involve other models and VIN's of this car. I understand that we leased the car so we lose and can't recoup anything nor will they work with us to lower the cost of a replacement. What if my young children were in the car or my mother in law who has a tough time getting in and out of the car, someone could of been injuried or worst. Someone needs to caer about this. This happened in norwalk CT on east rocks rd 06851. Sunny clear day car was moving forward when it lost power. No recent work on car, no accidente norwalk CT fire incident report 21-001007.

3 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 05/29/2019

Our 2016 chevy Traverse check engine light came on then it started blinking, we brought it too a chevy dealer and they told us the power steering pump was leaking and the fluid ran down the line and dripped in to the sensor box and shorted out all the sensors. Costing us out of pocket $2115. 04. This should not have happened. There were no signs of leaks or spots on our driveway or where the car is parked during the day. If you look under the hood of the Traverse you see nothing. There was no possible way for me too see this problem and catch it before the damage was done. There for this should have been covered under warranty and chevy basically told me to bad not covered.

4 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 12/12/2015

December 2015 drove the 2011 Traverse to the grocery store. After parking the cooling fan was on after engine turned off. Very loud fan noise had me concerned. After driving home I notice no fan noise so I felt it was an isolated incident considering it is cool winter weather outside. Next a. M. We went to church approx 7 mile trip and fan was running when we turned off car again and saw puff of steam or smoke coming out from front of hood. Reasoned it was morning fog? or evaporating water! on the way to do errands 2 days later engine was running about 260* on gauge on dash. Fan came on when I parked and ran very loudly. I went straight to dealership which is across the street and met chevy service rep. He said it was just the car reacting to run the defrost mode on the ac system and sent me on my way. Before I reached our home the temp gauge was at 260* or higher because it was on the highest point on gauge. Returned the next day to dealership as car had now overheated again, no fan coming on at all, and service writer said turn it off before it does damage. Wow! left car and was called the next a. M, with diagnosis as bad water pump covered by recall. Work was done and then I was informed the rack amd pinion assembly was leaking and needs to be replaced and the engine mount is broken. I am sure the leak on the rack and pinion is due to overheating and extra pressure on the gaskets. No leaks ever noticed before this visit during multipoint inspection performed by dealer on 9/10/15. Area of fluid is fresh on rack area. Estimate at $1745. 00. I'm sure this recall will be happening soon. I just received the November 2015 recall on faulty throttle position sensor repair. I can only hope the recall for the steering system leak and failures will come soon. . Fyi we have owned 30 Chevrolet cars and we have never had anything like this happen or the amount of recalls occur.

5 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

I just recently purchased this 2011 chevy Traverse last night from the dealer. My first time buying a used vehicle. Within 3 months, my heat stopped working in my vehicle. I purchased the vehicle at 40,000 miles. Brought it to the dealer, and asked if there was anything they can do as I just purchased this vehicle not too long ago, and they stated there wasnt any recall. I would have to pay out of pocket to have this fixed. Just recently this month I have been having an issue with a whining noise when I am driving, and when I am turning the wheel. I took my vehicle to a mechanic and they filed all of my fluids, including power steering which was low. Found out that I have a leak. I started doing some research on this, and found out that all of the 2011 chevy Traverse vehicles had this same issue. I am going to contact the dealer today to see what they can do, as I didnt purchase an extended warranty with this vehicle. Should this not be something that is covered under Chevrolet if the majority of these vehicles are having this same issue?.

6 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 05/29/2014

I called to make an appt. For an air bag recall when it started slipping out of drive while driving. I could not get one for five days. I was told not to worry it would be fine. I barely made it to the dealership, reverse was gone and I had to drive slow and drop it into low, when it would slip out of gear I just prayed the guy behind me would not rear end me. They told me that this was also on recall and they would fix it for free. The next day they called and told me I would have to pay $6000. 00 for a new transmission, when I told them I wasn't paying anything he said he would talk to gm again. Then he called and said it was $4000. 00! I told him again I wasn't paying anything and he said he would talk to his general manager. Then he called and said the general manger would override gm and only charge me a $500. 00 recall deductible. This is crazy!! this car has had numerous recalls, timing chain, air bags, faulty seat belts, heated washer fluid mechanism causing fires, and now this. The last recall I took it in for they informed me that the master cylinder is leaking into the power brake booster and want $600. 00 to fix that. He told me to drive it until the brake light came on and fix it then! this model also rolls in the opposite direction of the gear it is in. I have been told it is a "feature" of this model. I have searched on line and found several complaints about this for other 2009 Traverse's. Some state that it is a "characteristic" of this model. The truth is it is a flaw. It can't be fixed and they don't want to recall the vehicle. They gave me a loaner that is a 2013 Traverse and it doesn't do it. I have to drive mine like it is a straight drive. I live in the mountains and if I stop on a hill I have to leave my foot on the brake and give it gas before I take my foot off or else I roll into the car behind me. This car is a lemon, something needs to be done.

7 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 03/24/2014

My issue started when I was making left hand turns it would sound like the engine would make a loud noise with some grinding noise. Then it started happening with right hand turns as well. Took it to the dealership today and they believe that it is the transmission. After doing some research I found alot of similiar issues. This needs to be fixed by gm. I am curious to see how this is handled by gm and the dealership. Basically it should be a no brainer, the vehicle is 4 years old, transmission should not go out that fast. Already filed a complaint and cantacting gm this afternoon as well. I have a feeling this is going to be a fight. Below are other issues reported to NHTSA, I stopped looking after page 3 took car in for odd noise in steering. Was told pump was bad and seal was bad. Appears that this is a common issue with this type of vehicle and no recall has been made. Its not just one or two cars, after research is hundreds of cars.
