Failure Date: 07/29/2014

Other part affected is the jack this style van rusts thru in front of the rear wheel well where the jack is supposed to be placed to replace the spare tire. There is no longer any structural support resulting in a dangerous condition where the van can fall off the jack if you attempt to put the spare tire on. As a matter of fact my Chevrolet dealer, at about 170,000 miles, crushed the whole area of my car while they put it on a lift to replace my transmission lines. I can never safely put the jack at that location. That is what alerted me to the problem whereas the rust was there very early in the life of the van!.

3 Body problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 03/04/2013

The metal underside support bracket that holds up both the engine coolant radiator and a/c radiator had rusted completly to the extent that the left (driver) side of the bracket completely failed and allowed the radiators to tilt down and drop approx. 4" on the left side. The primary support is now ony the coollant hoses. Had I not noticed, while viewing the car from the front that there was a problem; both the radiators could have fallen off while driving, they certainly could have wedged to impede the steering control and /or run over by the tires to most certainly be a safety issue to us or others on the road. My call to a dealership stated they are well aware of this particular rust issue and they have no knowledge of recall by gm. There should be a recall to repair a corrosion issue of this support component that is a safety integrity issue. Djk.

5 Body problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 02/04/2013

Driver was turning at traffic light at low speed, 200 ft from her home. When turn was complete, driver was unable to return steering wheel to forward position, nor was she able to stop the vehicle using brake pedal, until the vehicle crashed into another one parked along the street. Driver was unable to explain how it could happen, and the accident was considered her fault. However, the latest gm recall regarding weakness of ignition key mechanism provides logical explanation of this accident. If the ignition key flipped to "off" position during the turn, power steering and power braking would be gone, and what driver described would make total sense. Especially taking into account that at that time the driver had several additional keys on the keychain. Is it possible that 2003 Chevrolet Venture ignition mechanism may suffer from the same problem as ones recalled by gm?.

6 Body problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 07/20/2012

Due to rusted rear right brake line, vehicle lost all brake fluid without warning and prevented vehicle from stopping in a timely manner. The lack of brake control caused right rear side of the van's body (just in front of the rear right wheel) to hit the protective barrier at the gas station. Upon inspection rust is now observed at several places on the brake lines as well.

My wife hit a old style van that had stopped for a dog crossing a the road. The whole front end had to be replaced. Hood, grill, lights, both fender had to be repaired, also the steal tube under the radiator frame had to be cut out and replaced. On 11/5/2010 I hit a deer going 30 mph, again front end damage. Both times the air bags didn't deploy, and on star didn't respond. I asked two different Chevrolet dealers if the air bag sensor could be tested, answer was no.

Failure Date: 07/10/2009

The electric passenger door on my 2004 Chevrolet Venture has repeatedly closed with various children's body parts in its path. This closing has occurred when one child is getting into or out of the van and that child or another child has accidentally pushed the button to close the door, or when I have remotely pushed the button to close the door and one of the children has reached back in for something. The door does not stop, and crushes whatever is in it's path. Fortunately I have been quick enough to avoid any serious injuries, but my children have been pretty bruised up and my seven-year-old daughter was cut by the door.
