Passenger pressence module sensor gets detoriated when the passenger seat moves back and forth. Basically ruining the too short wiring connecting to the sensors. This makes the airbag nondeployable. 56 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Volt

My "service airbag soon" light has come on for the passenger side and requires a replacement of the passenger presence sensor and module. I have been quoted by the chevy dealer at $897 before tax. This has been reported by many other people before. Due to the sensor malfunctioning and not knowing if there is or isn't a passenger in the seat the airbag may or may not be active. This is extremely dangerous.

57 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Volt

Constant service airbag warnings, started as intermittent, now it's constant. The passenger seat sensor is defective and would be extremely expensive to repair, this is an obvious design flaw with this vehicle, there's thousands of reports of this from other owners, it's something chevy should recall and repair free of charge.

61 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Volt

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

At 40,000 miles approximately, the check airbag sensor light came up. The dealer said that because it was out of the 36,000 mile warranty, it was not covered and it would be about $850 and there would be no guarantee that the sensor change would fix it. I refused the work for that price. I have driven another 135,000 miles and it is still on. Safety has been reduced due to the high charge for a manufacturing defect.

62 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Volt

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

"service airbag" sensor issue on the 2013 chevy Volt. Is seems to be a common issue per the prior complaints I see. As stated by others, no water damage or anything has occured on the passenger side of my vehicle. In fact, I've only had people actually ride in the passenger seat 5 times in total in all the years that I've had it. So basically it isn't used. The issue is an airbag / sensor issue and there should be a recall by chevy to fix said issue! as others have stated. It does come and come but has been more frequent as of late even though the car passenger seat is not used!.
