Electrical System Problems of Chrysler 200 - part 1

While driving, my 2016 Chrysler 200 (3. 6l v6) experienced a sudden and complete electrical failure. All systems shut down simultaneously, including the dashboard, engine, power steering assist, and electrical accessories. The vehicle coasted to a stop and would not restart—no crank, no dash lights, no response. After allowing the vehicle to cool for approximately 30–45 minutes, electrical power returned and the vehicle restarted normally. This failure mode is identical to the power distribution center (pdc) connector defect that resulted in a recall for the 2015 Chrysler 200. My vehicle is the same platform with the same component architecture, yet no recall exists for the 2016 model year. This is a serious safety defect that creates a risk of crash, loss of steering assist, and loss of vehicle control while driving.

While driving at approximately 60 mph on a highway, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power, stalled, and entered "limp mode," shifting into neutral or a low gear unexpectedly. This failure caused a rapid deceleration in high-speed traffic, effectively disabling the vehicle and creating an immediate safety hazard and risk of collision. The engine stalled completely, requiring the vehicle to be coasted to the emergency shoulder. After a key cycle, the vehicle restarted but the check engine light remained illuminated. Independent diagnostic scanning retrieved diagnostic trouble codes (dtc) u0018 (medium speed can communication bus short) and p0894 (transmission component slipping). These specific codes and symptoms (intermittent electrical short causing stall/shift-to-neutral) are identical to the safety defects addressed in NHTSA recall 15v-470 (fca recall r24 - power distribution center electrical connector) and NHTSA 16v-529 (fca recall s55 - transaxle wiring harness). Although records indicate recall r24 was marked as "completed" on this vehicle in July 2015, the specific safety defect has recurred, presenting the exact same failure mode. The authorized dealer was contacted regarding the recurrence of this safety defect but refused to perform a no-charge inspection, citing an expired repair warranty. The manufacturer (fca us llc) was also contacted to report the recurring safety failure but refused to open a case or authorize a diagnostic inspection, despite the life-threatening nature of the defect. The component and vehicle are available for inspection. The failure has not been resolved.

Transmission service (power train ) caused my parking rod dislodged/broken to slip/jerk to lose control of vehicle. It had put us at high risk, no airbags didn't go off to causing passenger to hit their head blacking out and non-stop pain in rotating cuff of right shoulder. It was inspect by the police and city from not being drive-able to be towed and inspected by the towing/mechanical person. The messages that showed on dashboard was transmission failed/ services, engine light and having electrical issues to light was flicking once press on brakes. The vehicle was taken back, and it was determined that the wiring and electrical system had a communication fault, and that the vehicle needed to be taken to a dealer to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the battery cable and harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Somebody switch my VIN to another car stolen the parts the car unsafe swaying and stole the shocks control arm sway bar air bag tampered my car had a key hole on the trunk when I bought it it not there the gas pedal break pedal no correct the car is dangerous and I have a stolen switched Chrysler under my VIN number the metal tag missing out the windshield and not my engine.

We have an airbag warning light that keeps coming on. It's been reset by a repair garage, but has returned this week. Techniction stating the following: on technical service bulletin they state inspect and install a jumper harness in the front seats. Why do I have to reroute electrical. This should be a recall for repair because Chrysler has wired it incorrectly to start with. Other information: symptom/condition: right and left seat deployment squib 1 circuit open I am notifying you before a crash happens so all chyrsler 200 can be repaired.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, the a/c failed to function as intended. The contact stated that when the a/c failed, the temperature gauge on the vehicle was elevated. The contact parked the vehicle, turned off the engine, and called a tow truck. The vehicle was towed to the residence, and then towed to the dealer. The contact was informed that the power distribution center (pdc) electrical connector had failed, which caused intermittent power failures of certain electrical components. The contact was provided with an image of the fuse box, which showed that the fuse box was burnt. The contact was informed that the fan fire, pdc connector, and assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer pending the repair. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15v470000 ( electrical system); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.

2011 Chrysler 200, 156k miles, original owner. At highway speeds engine will shut off! extremely dangerous as you lose power steering and brakes on a busy interstate. No warning lights. No check engine. Issue just started happening and has happened multiple times in last 3 weeks. Car is unsafe to drive. After occurrence car will restart after about 30 minutes. I do not know why NHTSA or Chrysler hasn't done anything to initiate an investigation and recall. This issue is widely reported on many forums. After second instance, a repair shop reproduced issue and saw u1403 so they updated pcm/ecu as they couldn't find anything else. It has happened since then and my scanner showed dtc codes p061c status code 30 and u0401 status code 20.

You have a recall for chryslr 200 2015 for intermittent starting and stalling caused by faulty pdc connector. Nhtsa. My car is doing exactly that but its not under the recall why not? it had done this gor the last 4 months.

The problem seems to be with the electrical system the tipm is malfunctioning. Wipers will stop midstream or run constantly, any time power is engaged in the car the wipers will begin to work whether the switch is on or off and regardless if the key is even in the ignition or not. Airbag lights are lit up, blinker switch will engage wipers to run.

Friday, I was stuck in traffic when I noticed my temperature rising. I couldn’t pull to the side or turn my car off or do anything to get me safely out of the situation, my car then reached at what I last seen 275 degrees before shutting down. I had to leave my car setting as it was smoking and undrivable at this point. Later that night I got my car back home and upon further inspection my fan has abruptly stopped working, it is still getting voltage (bought a new fan) and that one also will not work either. When we checked the voltage it is backwards despite it never being worked on before. There’s electrical problems with these cars and they need addressed. I was left in 98 degree heat for almost 2 hours because of these issues. Next time it could be a woman and her children. Please fix this.

Since the day I picked up the car from the dealership lot, I have had consistent issues with this vehicle simply operating safely and normally. In arizona, you're legally responsible for a vehicle the moment you sign — even before you drive it off the property — so I was essentially stuck with it. From that point forward, I have been at my dealership nearly every month due to various mechanical and electrical issues. The vehicle has a history of repeated electrical and mechanical failures that affect both safety and basic function. One of the most serious problems is that the car randomly shuts off while driving, including in traffic and at intersections. This happens without warning and creates a serious risk of being hit from behind or losing control of the vehicle. In addition, the car frequently fails to start. It will often require a jump-start just to turn on, but even then, service technicians have told me the battery is not the issue, and in some cases, it doesn’t respond to a jump at all. The problem remains undiagnosed, with technicians saying they cannot pinpoint the cause. The issue appears to be electrical or ignition-related, but no definitive fix has been found. There have also been ongoing problems with the transmission jerking, hesitation during acceleration, and various warning lights coming on, including the battery, check engine, and transmission indicators. These issues began shortly after purchase and have occurred consistently over time. The vehicle has been brought to the dealership numerous times, where they have attempted repairs, but the problems continue. It is not safe to drive and continues to present a major safety hazard due to unexpected shutdowns and unreliable starting. Unknown- I was driving and it was storming bad, I accidentally drove through this road that was flooded and my car then said throttle control and my car started to not drive as well then when I took a turn my car stopped and it would not move. I turned it off and it started going again, then when I was going up a hill while I trying to turn my car would not move, the vehicle stability indicator turned out and so many more signs, so then I tried to turn my car off again and it was stuck in drive and would not turn off, I wasn’t able to move the gears it was locked on drive but not moving so I had to disconnect my battery and then it started moving again, not safely but I made it home. Please what do I do.

The multiair actuator is not good. . Mopar part is recalled in same engine on other vehicles. Not available to replace. Causes the car to not be able to drive properly and malfunctions randomly. Mopar 5047980ae multiair actuator - mopar (5047980ae) genuine oem mopar 2014.

Safety recall p43/NHTSA 14v-480 involves the 2015 Chrysler 200 with driver one-touch power windows built. Driver windows panel does not operate correctly and driver and passenger windows are inoperative due drivers front door wiring harness. The odometer also flashes while driving.

Vehicle has 46,000 miles on odometer. A year ago the "service airbag system" light would intermittently illuminate. It is now staying lit all the time. I was speaking with an acquaintance as they had the same vehicle. Theirs caught on fire under the seat in the electrical connection box for the airbag. I took it to a few of our local mechanics and they say it is a substantial safety issue as they pulled the codes b0028-13 and b0020-13. Right side and left side seat deployment squib circuit open. The airbags will not deploy upon impact. The consensus from the mechanics was that Chrysler has known this is a common problem in these vehicles and needs to address the repair. After calling Chrysler and finding out they do know this is a problem in design it will still cost $4000. 00 to repair as it's not covered under warranty. This vehicle is unsafe and it makes me wonder how many people are driving these vehicles not knowing the potential danger. It will be going to the dealership when one of them can "fit me in".

I started having the oil pressure warning light come on same day after an oil change. It was a 3-hour drive, and the light will come on while my foot is on the break. Oil level was in the safe marker. Then I started feeling rumbling like I was driving a stick shift car. One major incident I was waiting for my turn at a light and when it turned green, the car was stalling but went. All of sudden it stopped and cut off and wouldn't crank back up. When it did the light was red and cars were going around me. It was running hot but started back up for me to drive home. But it I stopped it shuts off. The inside lights do a weird thing like comes on randomly while driving and it's scary at night. Also, if using the left turn signal the lights comes on. But when the car is off the radio and other controls go bright then dim. When put on a code reader many codes come up p0506, p0137, p0171, p0131, p0302.

I took my car to carman Dodge chrylser dealer located 196 s dupont hwy , new castle DE, 19720. My car was scheduled for a recall repair u90 and power train software update. I took my car in 4-10-25 and it stayed overnight until 4-11-25. When receiving my car I was presented with new issues that caused a no bus code and radio died. My car had no internal issues prior to taking my car to the dealer for recall repairs. I have all the documentation and employees names for the service department. I was told by my advisor lance grey and supervisor joseph troboletti that there is nothing else they can do. Other than these new problems that occurred just so happened to be coincidental. And in order to get things replace I would have to wait until July and I may be eligible for a small discount on the parts. So that means I would have to wait 3 months to get repairs and drive a car with my children with no working windows , radio and etc.

The automobile will shut down when driving uncommanded, when it does this you lose power steering and braking and sometimes locks the steering wheel. The horn sounds uncommanded randomly. The windshield wipers will intermittently not work. Have researched the problem and have found this issue is common, with this year and make of vehicle. I have contacted the manufacturer and they have been no help. They state they know there is an issue but they do not have parts to fix the issue. When it shuts down you do not get any lights or notice on the dashboard. This puts the driver and passengers at risk and other drivers. The manufacturer stated on the phone its basically my problem and since they do not have parts to repair it I'm on my own, on finding the part, most likely refurbished.

The transmission jumped into neutral while going 65mph also indicating “service park brake” and “service transmission”. The vehicle slowing down almost caused another vehicle to rear end me as I was looking for a safe place to try and pull over. No one has inspected properly these vehicles despite numerous customer complaints of the same nature. The car had no lights on but afterwards the power train light came on.

My transmission is the problem yes its available for inspection my safety was at risk it happened about 3 days after I financed the car from carwise iom peoria IL they told me there was nothing they could do about it even though I had a 15 day/500mile powertrain warranty it has not yet been inspected ive had the car for about 4 months now and it happens every 2 weeks on and off feeling worser and worser my check engine light and service transmission light pops up while driving when shifting from drive to reverse it will not go into any other gear or move after that the gear shifter starts blinking above the neutral emblem and it tells me to engage parking break to prevent rolling backwards there are no active recalls on the vehicle if tried reaching out to the nearest Chrysler dealership near me but I have to wait an entire month for service this incadent has just acured again except this time I was stopped at a light and the car began to roll back almost causing an accident I dont know what to do.

2015 Chrysler 200 vehicles related to the power distribution center (pdc) connector. I’m having issues with the heat and radio controls and my care doesn’t seem to have the recall I bought the car 2023 but this just started end of last year. My car has stalled and died then runs really bad when started back up then my militate blinks and my head and radio controls does not work I’m not sure when my car was built but if it was still for 2015 Chryslers it shouldn’t matter the date it was built because some of us are still having issues.

It happened to my wife with our three kiddos in the car, she was on the freeway doing speed limit 65 when the car just shut off going around a corner at night all of everything shut off including head lights, power steering, and moter it almost through her and kids off the road in the dark ,the wipers shut off whenever they want and the healights off and on without warning, the horn blows unpredictable like , eceleration from bogging down to super fast causes the car to swerve and jerk around unpredictabley the windows sometimes work and sometimes not, once in a while car wont start and or stalls while driving. I'm really worried and scared my wife and kids are going to get hurt or killed or hurt someone else because of these electrical issues. I was so happy to buy my wifey something nice ,safe and sound to drive kiddos back and forth and take me to work and back for it to only turn out super unsafe and unpredictable , we love our crysler 200 still but its unsafe and needs to be addressed as soon as we can before anyone gets hurt or killed, I'll do anything to get help with resolving this issue. It needs help that I cant provide, or afford I'm still happily paying for it crossing my fingers nothing else this scary happens.

The 2 recalls r-24 and r-55 were both supposedly fixed at the hunt Chrysler in franklin ky but my vehicle is still shifting up into neutral randomly I almost got hit because I was pulling out of a stop sign and the car stalled and went into neutral and I was stuck in the middle of the road and luckily nobody was coming so I had time to restart the car and get out of the way but the recall work they did was not done correctly otherwise they would have not called and said my car was ready to be picked up. Then they hung up on me when I called to see what I needed to do about getting my car back in to be fixed correctly and they literally hung up and refused to do their job and ensure that my vehicle is safe by correctly performing the recall work that Chrysler sent them to do. I looked it up and the step by step guide is online and they did not follow Chryslers guidelines or standards and I want answers please.

The car would slow down out of no where there time when the car doesn’t go over 5 miles per hours and throws it self in park some times my door wouldn’t open with the bottons can’t open my truck.

The wiring harness caught fire suddenly with no warning! it was on top of the intake under the cover. This is not acceptable!.

Headrest popped out radio goes blank or completely then comes back on throttle body light comes on and stalks car after being replaced 2 times gas cap light comes on after being replaced 4 times.

As I was waiting for the light to change, my car suddenly shuts off and won't restart. Luckily, some goof samaritans helped push my vehicle out of traffic. The mechanic close to where the incident took place found that the asd fuse needed to be replaced and my car started right up. Well my car shut off while waiting for a light a few days later. I will be having my car looked at again however after research it seems to be that the tipm needs to be replaced. It would be amazing if there was a recall on this as I see so many others having the same issue. This is a huge safety concern.

Car shuts down suddenly while driving causing the wheel to lock up and breaks unable to be pressed.

On July 4th 2024 I was driving home and transmission started acting up and leaked everywhere come to find out after inspection the transmission pan exploded under my vehicle and it will not drive at all it's saying service power train and service transmission and the car won't turn off or start and it's stuck in drive along with the emergency brake turned on by itself and the vehicle started to smoke.

My car will not go into park. It will not engage. It is staying in gear. I called Chrysler Dodge Jeep in lee summit and they say that that has been repaired before there is a recall on it but there’s refusing to repair it. Never had that happen or had it repaired since I’ve owned the vehicle but unsafe and drivable dangerous I was stuck in the middle of the street for over an hour was very very terrifying. Can you help me figure out what they won’t fix this? control automatic emergency braking r08 I believe this is to the recall code I run the car for a while, and I have never taken it in for this I was unaware until it lost up on me my number.

I took my car in to get my recalls fixed and they are not fixed yet they claim to be fixed on record. One is a transmission sensor and the other is electrical. The issue I am having is my car is shutting off the power to the engine while driving. This is causing serious issues when driving on busy highways and other roadways. I am terrified of my engine stopping on the interstate and getting hit by other car due to being unable to drive my car. This instance has happened once where my engine has stopped randomly while on the highway. The other issue is it will not start, there is an issue with the electrical not sending information over to my cars computer to start it. I have been left stranded late after work some days or unable to drive my car at all. The dealership claims all recalls have been fixed but after going to (2) different places they do not assume they have been fixed due to this being the only cause for this issue to be happening still. The code my car is reading is the p0335 sensor which has been replaced * I did witness a new one being put and throwing a check engine light.
