Equipment Problems of Chrysler 200 - part 2

When my son was adjusting the seat to his height and reach, the headrest (commonly known as an ahr from my research) popped open. I was not hurt but could have been if I wasn't leaning forward at the time. I understand fiat Chrysler is under a class action lawsuit for this very defect, yet my car is not part of the recall. Does this mean they are not liable? do I have to join the class action lawsuit to get them to repair my headrest at no cost to me? I can take photos but I'm using an I-phone and my computer does not recoginze the file extension. Thank you for your guidance in this matter, gerald shackelford 210-365-6197.

I own a 2011 Chrysler 200 convertible. This vehicle has a huge problem with the convertible top latching system. When I try to close the top, the latches do not come out and therefore the top doesn't latch closed and there remains about a 2-3 inch gap that makes the car dangerous to drive in that position. Thereby making you have to drive with the top down. Then, when I called "all" my local Chrysler dealerships, they all say that they don't work on that specific problem. If not the dealership, then who? it's absolutely insane that Chrysler can straight up refuse to fix a known issue with one of their vehicles. I feel that this issue should be listed as a recall as hundreds, if not thousands, of customers have complained of the same issue.

Car has always ran great no problems. I go to leave house and as soon as I drive maybe 100 ft all the dash lights came on started flashing and chimming. Engine also reved up which was crazy I was terrified of rear ending someone. I hit brake but it kept doing it. Ive had two different shops run a scan and they say too many codes to know. And tell me to take to dealership. I bought car brand new back in 2012. I just need to know what to do now?? the speedometer went to zero and cold hot hand went to c its like the computer wasnt sending messages to the proper places.

For the past three months my car shuts off while driving for no reason without warning. Some times even when I am at a stop waiting for light to change while trying to accelerate to go it just shuts off and have to wait for some time to try to start it again. This problem started around may of 2023 and I have not found a solution. Replaced fuel pump based on a article I read on line, but problem continued as of today 11-23-2024.

My vehicle Chrysler 200 2016 has several car mechanical issues. The shifting gears. Rough shifting while driving. The affected vehicle would lurch through gears, and it would sometimes shut down or automatically shift to neutral. Grinding or a crunching sound. Clutch slips or doesn't “feel right” burning smell or high engine revs. Car started rough, shifting and having transmission problems a year after we had it. Airbag sensor won’t turn off.

2022 winter - had to spend 2,000. 00 replace the heater core. This should of been covered in my books. I called damion Chrysler to report this issue. They claimed they were not aware of such an issue. But if you look at all the reviews they say factory left extra gunck/sealer is why the heater quit blowing hot air on one side. 2023 summer - now my a/c isn't blowing cold air. But gargage was able to locate the leak and repair this. Have had both drivers & passengar window motors/regulators replaced 2020 - 2022 now in 2023 same issue with my back windows. Had power to it so replaced the master power switch with a 200. 00 new switch.

The vehicle shuts off while driving at any given time. It started about 4 months ago while I was on the freeway in the fast lane. No warning lights or sounds came on. I costed over to the left shoulder because it was rush hour. When I tried to restart it, it sounded like it was stalling and I couldn't jump it either. It was like the engine got hot even though the gauge didn't say it was. After I let it set for about 30 minutes it started right back up. I thought it was a one time thing, but it's been doing it a lot more and I've had to sit and wait for longer periods of time. I searched online and found the symptoms of what it's doing and it appears there was a recall and investigation about the issue. If I remember correctly there was over 13,000 vehicles recalled for the powertrain module or something like that but when I searched my vehicle it says no recall.

While driving the car on the highway it completely shut off and would not start. My dashboard is black and flashes. This could have been worse and put our life at risk. I have had so many issues on this car ever since I purchased it. I have taken it to a shop before and this will be my third time.

Decelerating while approaching a stop sign the engine shut off and would not restart for approximately 10 minutes. No warning lamps or indicators were lit. The driver was in danger of rear collision while attempting to restart.

Driving down the street and the car just stalls out of nowhere with no warning and then after a while will restart mechanic has no idea what could be wrong.

Cold air from passenger side only, hot air from driver side this issue started about 1 year ago tried different technicians they all had different opinions, but none had seen this issue before.

My head rest restraint deployed overnight whole the car was sitting in my driveway. I see multiple complaints of this and reached out to a dealership/Chrysler corporate and they said I have to pay for it out of pocket. They said the warranty for it was extended but I never received a notification of it being an issue or a warranty. The car was purchased in 2017 and had 2 recall, I took it to a dealership within a month and they said the recall was fixed. However less then 5 years later my head rest restraint deployed on it's own, there was no collision to my car while it sat in my driveway.

The passenger headrest deployed without being in a crash. The car was parked. This could have caused injury if my passenger had her head rested. It also could have caused an accident if this happened while driving as it sounded like a gun shot or loud crash. No warnings went off.

When in park with engine running indicator comes on and says put car into park before it rolls. Look down and see it shifted into neutral. Always after putting in park I have to engage my emergency brake to make sure it does not roll. Very sluggish when put into drive. Tells me to service transmission and this all started in September. Took it to a repair shop called xtreme auto repair and was told it has a six page recall on the problem with my transmission. Emailed Chrysler headquarters and they said there was nothing they could do cause the warranty expired. Yes it expired back in 2020 and the problem just started in September of 2022. Was told “ so sorry I am having a bad customer day”. Bought the car used in October 2017. I fear for my life and others as well if something should happen while driving.

The touchscreen radio will not load past the Chrysler symbol. It is the only way to control air vents I. E. Defrost and temperature. It occasionally loads to rear backup camera view and gets stuck there driving down the highway.

While driving along a 40mph street, the convertible top started to pop open, causing me to have to grab it and pull it down, almost causing me to hit the curb, and having to hold it down until I got home. The instrument panel reading said "convertible top malfunction" and "top not secured". After calling a repair facility, I was advised how to get the top to re-latch closed, but now the top will no longer work, and I'm still not sure that although closed, that the top still isn't locked shut.

The passenger side headrest airbag deployed while driving. No accident and was not hit by anything.

Numerous problems with vehicle refusing to start when ignition switch turned on. The dealership could not find a problem. The vehicle then ran for a period of time without additional issues. In April of 2022 the problem resurfaced. After trying for two days to start the vehicle, it started and I took it to a Chrysler dealership. The mechanic indicated the car needed a new starter. The starter was replaced on 4/20/2022. On 5/10/2022 the dealership inspected the vehicle and did an oil and filter change. No problems were found. On 5/13/2022 I was driving and the vehicle suddenly stopped in traffic and would not restart. Thankfully, a crash was avoided when the vehicle suddenly stopped in heavy traffic. The automatic windows and door locks still worked even though ignition would not engage. The vehicle had to be pushed out of traffic and was towed to a dealership. The mechanic listed the following: asd main sense circuit; generator field control /circuit; engine oil pressure sensor circuit low; starter control 2 circuit open-pulled vehicle in found starter was not engaging-tested both power feed lines. The repair quote was in the thousands of dollars. I have gotten rid of the car and I am purchasing another make of vehicle.

Vehicle was at detail shop - parked. Employee moved seat to access back and drivers side head rest deployed. There was no collision. Unable to reset, as part is broken. Appears to be a major safety concern which could lead to an accident. I will be attempting to address this issue quickly as it represents a major safety problem. It is available for inspection for now. Had this happened while driving I believe an accident would have resulted. I will be contacting the dealer and an independent shop on Monday. At this time it has not been inspected by anyone official. No warning signs were noted.

It’s starting up but won’t drive and light smoke come from the car overheating a lot it’s just a big mess not holding any fluids waste money trying to keep it with fluids.

Got my 2013 Chrysler 200 limited in March 2022 , car would stall and lose power about a couple times a week , took to garage they said it was the psm either had to be replaced or reset , but soon after that my heat stopped working on passanger side blew cold and driver side blew earm , now back on to the stalling , my fiance noticed when checking things under hood that the battery was grounded on top but he said from where it's grounded they should have never painted it , but cleared paint off area and corrosion off the battery terminals and areas and my car has not stalled out again.

I have to start my car and let it run for 20 minutes at least at a time to get the temperature gauge to have 4 or 5 notches, before I can take off or it will immediately die. . No matter the temperature outside I can't just ever get in it and go or it will just shut off. It's like I quit giving it the gas. It starts back up usually after 2 tries. It acts like I'm not giving it gas, just stops. .

Multiple times the engine power steering and brake assistance will go out without warning. This has happened at intersections and has also happened on an extremely busy highway where I was nearly hit multiple times. When this happens the car will not start up immediately. After waiting approximately 30 minutes the car will finally restart again. I have taken it to the dealership and they cannot replicate the issue nor can they provide a solution.

Thermometer malfunction when coolant temp reaches 174 degrees, thermometer bottoms out. Electric throttle light comes on and l=lights saying engine hot appear. Turn car off , wait 60 seconds turn car on and the car is fine.

Engine stops with no warning, making the power steering & brakes stop working. Mopar repair center could not duplicate the problem. When I picked it up, it happened in their parking lot while in my car waiting for it to warm up.

My 2015 Chrysler 200s vehicle shuts off while driving. Mostly when I slow down to make a turn or come to a stop sign. Others have reported a shut down while driving on the highway. Battery, alternator, transmission, belts - have all been checked as okay. I found recall information about this being a real mfg problem but I've never received a recall notice about it. I've shut down while crossing a busy street and almost got hit. I'm afraid to get it on the highway now or drive it anywhere for fear of getting stranded or causing an accident.

Gov driver was being signaled by other passing vehicles to pull over as their vehicle was on fire. The driver was able to safely stop the vehicle and found the engine compartment was on fire. He then called ems. 1) how fast was the customer traveling when they became aware of the fire? I was at a stop light when I was notified by another vehicle that my car was on fire. I had no idea my car was on fire previously. Once I pulled over I starting seeing smoke come out the vents. I was on the highway on my way to the destination and possibly going 60 mph but didn’t see any smoke while on the highway. 2) what was the recent usage of the vehicle before the incident? was it used that day? how long had the vehicle been driving before the incident? the gov was used maybe once or twice every two months. Yes it was used that day for about 25 minutes before the fire was noticed. 3) did any vehicle operator notice anything wrong or unusual about the vehicle prior to the incident? not to my knowledge 4) any after-market equipment installed? not to my knowledge.

I purchased this car a yr ago and have complained about the transmission since the beginning along with oil issues and power issues. They refused to fix it. The car downshifts and throws itself forward and it's almost caused numerous accidents. There's times the car will not go forward and when you hit the gas a little it revs and shoots forward. It's very unsafe and I can't even drive it. I'm paying for a car that's very unsafe.

Car says “engine warming, please wait to start” then it take at least 5 mins to actually start the car. My cars also been overheating since my software update for my recall.

Upon taking my Chrysler 2015 200 limited 2. 4l in-line into bay area Chrysler dealership to figure out why my car wasnt running correctly they it on their diagnostic they said it needed a body control module which the dealership put a new one charged me 199. 20 to put it in plus the $376. 35 for the module that was ordered which I paid . When I picked up my car it was parked with the ignition on and walked off with the key fob. After paying for another 200 $ for a new key fob I was told the new part didnt work. So now the center stack which controls the radio the heater /air conditioner controls screen off on selecter knob and parking brake do not work so im wondering if the electrical recall or failure of the dealership to do their job.

Purchased car 8/03/21. Got full possession of car 8/18/21. The car shuts off while driving and backing up with no warning. It shuts off when you press on the brakes. When you come to a complete stop and then press on the accelerator , the car hesitates to move, then moves very slowly , jerks then starts to move at a normal pace . Engine light comes on continuously.

Car shuts off randomly while driving and will not start back right away.

I was driving down the road and the car lost all power, I couldn't even turn on my hazard lights, wasn't sure of car was going to roll backwards if I got out, lucky no one hit me.
