I was driving and all of a sudden the car started making a loud whining noise and seemed to be downshifting and lurching by itself. It was not shifting properly and it seemed to be doing stuff by itself. I did not have control over what it was doing. I had to pull off the highway and called triple a and the car had to be towed. It was repaired and now 2 weeks later it again downshifted by itself out of the blue and started whining again. It has not been driven since.

A multitude of different issues with the transmission; transmission will experience delayed shifts (or delays when shifting into reverse, drive or any other gear then vehicle will clunk into gear), harsh shifting, random down shifting while driving and slamming into gear, squeaking noise when shifting from reverse to drive. Took the vehicle into the dealership for servicing where they looked over, they noticed the issues and ran software updates on my shifter and for the transmission. The problem still persisted so the tech contacted fca and they informed the dealership that "it's supposed to do that. " this is not the norm of any transmission.

As I was in motion going about 20 mph with the car in drive (d), the car displayed a message as seen in the photo that states shift to park (p) to start. As, that message is displayed the steering wheel and the brakes lock up while the car is slowing down so you cannot shift the car to park until the car has come to a complete stop. Once the car comes to a complete stop, I shifted my car back to park and tried to restart the car. The car wouldn't restart right away. The engine and transmission would make a noise as if it were trying to start with the rpm's fluctuating to about 3 (3000 rpms) then go back to 0 then jump to 1 (1000 rpms) then back to 0 rpms where the engine would give out. I would have to wait a minute, while in the middle of traffic, then it would restart and run normally again. I called Chrysler corporate, due to the fact of having the whole transmission replaced while under warranty due to a transmission problem that grew after purchasing the car. Leslie from Chrysler gave me case id #: 34798487. I scheduled an appointment with darcars Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of silver spring located on 12511 prosperity dr, silver spring, MD 20904 to bring the car to get serviced and the issue looked at on August 7th 2018 at 10:45 am. I am currently waiting for a diagnosis of the issue to be addressed by the dealership. Please see pictures attached for more information.

On multiple occasions I have been driving down the road and my car shifts very hard and has made grinding noises. Not only that but ever since I have bought it, it shifts like a rubber band being pulled back and makes you lunge forward. I believe I have taken it in 3 times now and with no resolution. The first time I took it in they had a service rep ride with me to see what I was feeling. He personally said that it wasn't shifting correctly and so they kept it. When I picked it up they informed me they did not find anything wrong with it but re-programmed it. As I left the dealership it shifted worse than before. I then called and complained and they said it was normal, on my way back home it was consistently shifting rough. I finally just pulled over shut the car off and started it up again. After doing so it shifted smoother but worse than it did before. On a separate occasion I was driving down the highway at a speed of 70 mph set on cruise when I tried to disengage the cruise control function and it would not disengage! I was going from a highway to a speed limit change and could not get it. Luckily I have read about this happening and shifted it into neutral and I was able to disengage it after that.
Bought this 2016 Chrysler 200 s 4 cyclinder in July 2016 with only 4900 miles on it. Car was a dealer program car still under factory warranty. Today, 8/22/2016 at 6157 miles the car stalled while my teenage sons (3 of them) were driving on city streets to school (this is the car they drive everyday). The car stalled while driving three separate times losing all power with a message in the dash reading "shift to p". Once shifted to park the car did start but only after making an odd noise while pushing in the ignition button. Needless to say this is extremely dangerous to have a car lose power while on the road especially with new teenage drivers. Bought this car in large part because of its safety ratings but this clearly is the exact opposite of safe. I will take to dealer in the morning to see what they say. Lots of other complaints about same issue although most seem to be with the 2015 not 2016. Nonetheless, how can one feel safe again putting their children behind the wheel? no idea what caused this issue. The drivetrain does not shift smoothly either particularly when transitioning from reverse to drive when coming to complete stop.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds there was an abnormal clunking noise. Additionally, when the push to start button was pressed the vehicle failed to start. The gear shifter was hard to shift into gear. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer premier Chrysler Jeep Dodge 13000 I 10 service rd new orleans la 70128 888-358-9233 where diagnosed that the system needed to be reset. The bolts needed to be tighten the vehicle was repaired however the failures recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the issue but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 38,193. Ap.
My transmission is slipping and not performing the way it should. Sometimes my car shifts hard and sometimes it won't shift out until it reaches 5 or 6000 rpms which is almost in the red zone. When going up a hill or incline it hesitates and jerks. I called several dealerships only to be told that there were multiple cars ahead of mine that were just sitting there with the same problem. I was told that they were waiting on a call from corporate to fix the problem. To this day it has not happened. Also, my airbag light has been on for almost four months now. They said they did not have a fix for it yet. Just recently there is a knocking noise coming from the passenger side dashboard. An ongoing problem has been the noise from the front brakes when I am backing up. I was told there was no fix yet for that problem. As of this day, there still is no fix for it. I am still driving my car because I can't just leave it to sit at the dealership waiting on repairs. As you all know, they do not give out loaner vehicles any more at least not in arkansas.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer stated that an unknown sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred on five separate occasions. The contact also stated that when he accelerated and shifted gears, he could hear a loud rattling noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. They were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,000.
My transmission has had nothing but problems shifting, racing rpms, banging and clunky plus the gears are searching. The software has been updated along with its recalls. Because there is no code when present or engine light. Chrysler will not call it not working. But they state its working fine because no codes or engine light. The dealer gave me a harx time with it as a trade in. The brakes have been an issue and they hear the noise byt state they are fine when in fact they dont always stop when pressing down. My front end and steering has been taken apart and replaced so many times . The front end scapes clunks still. I explained to both Chrysler corp and arrigo Dodge Chrysler in west palm beach. Im still having problems. The car feels like I lose control of the car. I have a bad car service records state all the repairs. And the dealer is no help when the car was bumber to bumber coverage . All they did was year down take apart which they have done shotty work. And ripped off me . I have no recourse than to be stuck with this so called dream car of mine. $30,000 investment down the tubes.
When shifting into reverse or drive it has a hard jolt when going into gear. Sometimes it is so hard that it jerks your body and head/neck, and it sounds like the transmission is going to unbolt from under the car. It does it a couple times a day, and then may stop for a few days but always comes back. I have noticed on the days it is not doing it I average more mpg, and when it is doing it the mpg continuously decreases when it is occuring multiple days in a row. On the days that it is doing it my transmission sounds more whiny than than usual. I have also had issues when putting it into gear, and pushing the gas pedal it tries to stall. It is a problem, and not "just the way those motors are". If it was "just the way the motor" is then it would do it every time you put it in gear, and not come and go and be much worse on some days than others. As time passes the jolting is getting worse and harder. Also, my brakes make an awful squeeking/grinding noise when stopping slowly (stop sign) or backing up. When the car was checked I was told they could not find anything wrong with the car or brakes. This is very agrivating because it was bought brand new, and I am having these issues. I am making payments on a vehicle that is having these types of issues, and I do not feel safe in it. The way the transmissions acts I am afraid of what it may do while driving down the road.
