Car will stall out while driving and car will remain stuck in neutral. Dashboard lights with flicker off and stay off before stalling. Car will completely shut off in traffic with no warning. I have read various recalls on same make and model and year car. The car completely shut off while I was turning a corner and I was almost rear ended because I had no time to put on emergency blinkers. When the lights come back on the dash it says power steering system unavailable. I can start the car again but about another 2-4 miles it repeats. This is a safety issue for both me and my family.

Friday morning on February 28th 2020 I was driving my Chrysler 200 to work. I was on a busy street that navigates through downtown where I work at. The speed limit is 35mph. As I was continuing to drive down the road my car shut off mid drive . I lost control of my power steering as well as my breaks. A car that was driving behind me almost rear ended me due to the lack of warning for the abrupt stop . This was a very terrifying experience, going from 35 mph to 0 mph , with no control of the wheel or breaks , I couldn't do anything but let the car coast and wave my hands out the drivers window to signal cars behind me to slow down and not hit me. My car came to a complete stop in the middle of an intersection, where I blocked busy traffic for over 45 minutes waiting on the tow truck I had to call . The car wouldn't start back up when I tried multiple times to restart it as the car was stuck in neutral with blinking lights appearing on the dashboard telling me to put the car in park , which I couldn't because the gears locked up and wouldn't move. As a consumer this is very disappointing and most importantly it's unsafe . I was 1 hour late to work and I travel with my children in this car . I loved my Chrysler and I'm very sad that I now have to look for a different car since I no longer feel safe driving this Chrysler 200, things like this makes the vehicle seem very unreliable and unsafe.

****note - need more information. Contacted consumer 12/12/*** tl the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that all the warning indicators were illuminated when the vehicle was in use. In addition, the gear became stuck in neutral and required the contact to manually release the gear out of neutral. Afterwards, the vehicle would only travel in reverse. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that an electrical failure occurred and suggested the vehicle be taken to a dealer. Dodge country (1902 e central texas expy, killeen, TX 76541, (254) 200-3900) was contacted and a diagnostic appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v529000 (power train). The failure mileage was approximately 87,000. The VIN was unknown.

While driving at 30 mph vehicle would not shift, transmission light illuminated on dashboard and two messages stated performance shifting was unavailable, service transmission message came across screen. Vehicle displayed 4th gear at all times, placed it in park, would not shift out of park at first, eventually came out of park and was still displaying 4th gear. Armory Chrysler dealer in upstate NY stated it was actually stuck in 2nd gear, they stated there were stored codes, but were unable to tell me what they were. At this point they are unable to replicate the problem and stated that because it was intermittent that it was probably electrical. Still waiting for diagnostics from armory Chrysler dealer.

I purchased my 200 in 2017, the abs indicator light will not go off, there actually a recall but, my VIN doesn't show it. My emergency park has ignites on its while stationary at a stop sign and while in traffic at a red light, thankfully there wasn't any semi-trucks behind me because, there would have been a fatality. The car has lost power while in motion at least 3 times. Just recently my car become stuck in neutral and the car would not move. I called Chrysler, they stated that it was a powertrain issue and it would be covered with my warranty, so they paid for the tow to the dealership, the dealership had the car for a day, they counterclaimed what Chrysler stated, they claimed that it was because, the battery was just replaced so the computer needed to be re-set but, this happened on 2/12/2019 and my battery was replaced on 9/2018. There was a recall in 8/2015 for this exact same issue. I talked to the guys at my regular service station and as soon as I told them what happen they knew that I was lied to by the local Chrysler dealership.

When the contact tried to start the vehicle it shifted into a neutral gear was stuck in that gear. The manufacturer checked and confirmed there were no recalls on vehicle at this time. The failure mileage was 40,000. Tf.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While the vehicle was stationary, it shifted into neutral spontaneously. The contact was unable to switch into the reverse or drive gears. The contact disconnected the battery to turn off the vehicle. Upon restarting the vehicle, it would not turn off and was stuck in the neutral gear. The failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact purchased a new battery, as recommended by an independent mechanic, but the failure recurred. A dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,800.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at unknown speed the vehicle stalled with no warning. The contact stated that after several minutes able to restart and continued to drive with no issues. The contact stated that the failure had occured multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mecahnic where the failure could not be diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehilce currently was stuck in neutral. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechainc who could not diagnosis the failure. The vehicle was towed to a second independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as electrical however, he was unable to repair or diagnose the parts that were needed to be repaired or replaced. The contact researched the vehicle failures on-line and believes the failures were related to NHTSA campaign numbers: 15v470000 (electrical system) and 15v090000 (power train). The manufacturer was notified of the failue and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The approxiamte failure mileage was 50,000. Aa.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While attempting to shift the vehicle to the drive position, the gear became stuck in the neutral position without warning. Takata recall. My car sometimes has a hard time changing gears, it's almost like it gets stuck in neutral sometimes and wont properly accelerate. I was not in city limits it happens constantly when I first start to drive my vehicle (mostly when I'm within my own personal driveway) and I have not been in any fatal accidents nor have I been in a near accident. The only reason I am reporting this issue is because I have seen this occuring issue with other cars the same as mine model/year wise and was wondering if my specific vehicle had been looked at for these potential recalls.

Several recalls have been completed and we have received 2 different new transmissions; however, we continue to experience sloppy gear shifts and inconsistent sluggish acceleration. When acceleration is needed, the engine will sometimes rev up to 5000 rpms for 1 to 2 seconds before feeling a harsh slip into gear which causes the car to jerk. In close encounter situations this leaves a very uneasy feeling that you are unable to get out of danger in a reasonable amount of time. The action seems to occur most often when decelerating quickly and then accelerating quickly as if the vehicle is stuck in too high a gear for a second or two and then harshly down shifts as you have it floored because it isn't going anywhere. Dealers can't always reproduce in the brief test drives they conduct. Recently, they flashed the "quick learn" component and say it now appears to be driving as designed. . . But if this is the design, it seems very unsafe.

Purchases car on Aug 4, 2015 since day I purchased car it has had a hesitation when shifting into drive at initial start. You start car and turn dial to drive but if u immediately try to take off the engine will just rev as if your in neutral it takes about 15-30 seconds once you turn the dial before car is in gear. After about maybe 10,000 miles I noticed car would sometimes jerk as if it had been stuck in a gear maybe this has randomly happened several times around 60+ mph brakes hard and difficult to push down had to stand on them and still barely stopped. Shut car off and restarted 20 min later and they were fine. Service awd light came on at about 60,000 miles after purchase and install of brand new tires. Went off and came back on about a week later and car began making a high pitced winding sound (sort of like an open faced fishing reel when you cast or reel it in) then all the sudden heard a big clunk when sit ring at stop sign it was loud and jogged the car to the point I though maybe a deer ran into the side of the car. I took off but immediately pulled overy and walked around the end car to check and didn't see anything. Noticed when I took off the winding had quit. But the next day it began again took car to dealership because the winding noise had gotten so loud they told me they couldn't check it while doing oil change had to be scheduled. I raised hell until someone came out from service when oil change was done and went for a ride with me. Noise was completely gone serv awd light still on tho scheduled appointment to have light turned off for 4 days later. Drove 30 miles when I left dealership and it began again stopped to drop kid off and was headed back to dealership but when I restarted car noise gone and awd light was off. Noise comes and goes over next 2,000 mi now awd light back on and car is horrible in snow without awd.

The contact also stated that while driving at 25 mph, the service transmission and engine warning light illuminated and the transmission got stuck in 4th gear. I've been having issues with the transmission shifting. While on the highway going up a slight incline the transmission shifts from 6th gear to 5th and back to 6th rapidly. It doesn't matter if cruise control or manual. The second issue is the starting the car and putting it into drive. It goes into gear hard the out of gear and back into gear. When I start to drive the transmission will not shift. It is stuck in gear. I can put it into manual shift and it will not make a difference. I have to pull over. Shut off the vehicle and start it back. Then the transmission will shift correctly. This happens maybe once a month. Recently it has happened twice in two weeks. The third issue is downshifting of the automatic transmission. I have let off the gas and it down shift hard enough to pull your back from the seat. It is worse coasting down a step hill when it downshift hard. I have been to the Chrysler dealer four times so far for the same issues first 08/26/2015 second 10/28/2015 third 05/25/2016 fourth 09/17/2016 I have also been in contact with Chrysler. Both the dealer and Chrysler says they have never heard of this issue. The dealer will take a 6 mile road test and say there is nothing wrong. The last appointment the dealer was supposed to drive over 50 miles to try to duplicate my issues. They never took the car on the road and said nothing was wrong and it drove fine. Chrysler or the dealership have not made an attempt to repair the vehicle. I have two videos of that the car does on the road and the transmission acts up.

17 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2015 Chrysler 200

Driving down the highway during rush hour traffic at 45 mph, the tranmission went into neutral even though the selector was in drive and did not allow me to accelerate at all while the car proceeded to slow to a stop. The "service transmission" message, check engine light and other messages appeared. It required me to stop my car, restart it in order to drive it again. This is a very serious safety concern. It also gets stuck in 4th gear (limp home mode) which is also dangerous because the engine has very little power when you stop and it prevents you from accelerating at the rate of traffic. It is also extremely hard to drive up hills.

I purchased this car brand new from a Chrysler dealer. Since I 've had my car on several occasions ill be driving along and the vehicle will get stuck in a neutral position. Its happened at a variety of speeds from 10 mph to 60 mph. Two or three times it has done it when trying to cross a busy road almost causing me to be hit on my side at highway speeds. Once or twice it has even caused the car to stall. This is a very serious issue and going to cause many fatalities. It needs to be addressed. I 've never hated a vehicle like this one.
