Transmission Not Go Into Gear Problems of Chrysler 200

January 13,2017 I purchased my vehicle from carite dealership. About four or five months later I had an issue come saying service transmission. My car immediately started to stall and not switch into gear while on the freeway. I had to switch lanes and it wasn't easy seeing that cars was going 70 miles in speed. Eventually I got off to side street then powered the car down. Tried starting it and it wouldn't move. I waited an hour before the car started next day to the dealership I go to only be told there's nothing wrong with it. This issue will happen occasionally more so during summer. I took it back to the dealership still they see nothing wrong but a throttle body like seriously. I complained that it was still an issue and demanded it be fixed. They said it's no problem. I haven't took it to the dealership since because I was tried of the run around and them saying it's nothing wrong. My car does this frequently mainly on the highway where it's unsafe to be doing so. I've even had problems where the car doesn't start up till the next day. I had problems where the when it's time for an oil change that it eventually shutdowns down. Today may 22,2020 is the latest where once again the car would not move.

The car is not going into gear without it jerking. . . And my airbags wont go off on my dashboard.

The transmission is not going into gear when the knob is turned there are several complaints about this I was told there where no open recalls about this problem. I feel if the auto maker knows about this they should address my concern with or without a recall.

I've only had my car for less than 2 months now and the car is not switching gears properly, the car also will not start sometimes the message displays that it is not in park and will not start for a while. On 11/22/2019 the car would not start and it also would not turn off, it was stuck in acc and on mode, it took about 3 hours to get the car to completely shut down. Also, while I'm driving when it actually moves it acts like it wants to cut off while driving on the streets.

The car stalled at a stop sign and stalled again 3 times after that. It read shift to p to start I did that and it would not let me change gear after that. I know this is a common problem with the Chrysler 200 so it should be a recall. This is a huge safety issue it happened while driving in a roundabout and people could have rear ended me.

Tl the contact's niece owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While driving, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the gear shifter failed to move. As a result, the vehicle was stuck in the middle of the road. The driver had to move the shifter back and forth until she was able to shift into drive. Once the vehicle was parked at home, the gear shifter failed and could not shift out of gear. The contact diagnosed the vehicle and located that the speed range sensor failed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was unknown.

Takata recall my car is stuck in neutral the gear knob will turn but it's not switching gears and it also says service park brakes and I know my brakes are good. I've looked online and a lot of people with the same car is having the same problem. It happens when you're riding down the road but this particular time it was parked. That can be very dangerous. If more than one person is having the same problem then something must be wrong.

Sometime when putting car in park it will tell you it is not in park and will not let you turn car off until you shift it into another gear and then shift back into park. Radio sometimes will not come on.

My car keeps shifting into neutral cant excel the gas when it does this. As I am driving along put foot on gas and doesn't do anything then all of a sudden shifts back into driving. I cant pin point it happens periodically. This is a hazard and dont know what to do to get it fixed garage says if it is not doing to when I bring to them they cant do anything. Please help me I do not want to be in a crash because of car not shifting into gear. I told them about the recall on vehicles they said mine isn't on list but it is doing what the recall says so where am I to go from here. It is still under warranty and I would like it fixed before I get killed in my car. Have already had a couple close calls on freeway. Not a happy camper. Happens on side roads main roads and highways expressways last time it happened on 4 27 2018 I would like it fixed.

The vehicle will stall while driving causing you to stop, place in park and restart. Upon trying to restart it struggles to turn over. Seems to be happening with the car has sat for awhile and is cold. The temp gauge shows nothing on it. I know the car will stall. If there is a line or more on the temp gauge on the dashboard it doesn't seem to have any issues. The vehicle is also not shifting from gear to gear properly. It seems to not catch when it should go to the next gear. The car will jerk.

Over the course of the past 4 months, my vehicle has completely lost all transmission power 3 times. When this occurs, the information display reads the following messages: "service transmission," "service parking brake," "shift to p to select a gear," "performance shifting unavailable". These messages will continue to display and the car loses all power and will not change gears. The engine does stay on, but will have no throttle response and the car is effectively stuck in neutral. Each of the 3 times this has happened, I have been at full speed, between 45 and 80 mph. The second two times it has happened have been in dangerous and unsafe locations, just yesterday, I lost all power while executing a left hand turn across 3 lanes of busy oncoming traffic. Thank goodness for the small bit of gravity that pulled me across the intersection before a tragic accident happened. Each of the 3 times, I have had the vehicle towed to a certified Chrysler dealership. Each of the Chrysler dealerships have told me that the car "isn't throwing any codes" and does not appear to have a malfunction. They will flash a new TSB, reset the transmission, and send me on my way, only to have it happen again and no one can tell me why. The vehicle is unreliable due to these ongoing powertrain struggles, and more importantly, completely unsafe. It's caused me nearly 2 serious accidents due to total lack of control at high speeds.

When driving my vehicle it will not shift gears, I have to let up on the gas and then apply pressure to gas petal and it will finally shift very hard. Sometimes while trying to exelerate on ramp to get into the highway it will not exelerate but just be stuck in first gear and then it will jump or shift very hard into the correct gear. I have had this happen many times on the highway and almost been hit because I'm coming off the ramp to slow. Other times I will just be driving in the city and it will jump without shifting. I have expressed my concerns with my dealership on may occasions. This has been happening ever since I purchased the vehicle in March of 2016.

Went to a store with a heavily sloped parking lot. Approximately 15 to 20 degrees. Parked car and went in side, returned to the car, started, and placed car in reverse, looked behind me for pedestrians and notice some people down a little ways. . Proceeded to carefully pull out of the slopping parking space in reverse. Applied slight pressure to brake pedal to shifted car into drive. Removed foot from brake to apply foot to gas pedal with a little more pressure than usual due to the slop, to keep car from rolling backwards. . The car keep rolling in reverse due to the declining slop of the parking lot. Car did not engage into drive and the engine revved up to high rpms and if not for a fast reaction from me returning my foot to brake after realizing what was going on, I could of easily ran into the people that I noticed earlier. Not good! when I put my foot on the gas peddle to stop the car, the car went into gear and the car shook violently due to the high rpms. The people in the parking lot were also startled. This is the primary car for my wife and I asked her if the car has not gone into gear before. To my astonishment she said once. This car now sits in the garage awaiting the Chrysler dealer to pick it up 27,997 miles. This kind of problem could easily do harmful bodily injury to a pedestrians or my wife. .

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,390.

The contact mentioned that sometimes the shift lever would become stuck to the first gear and the vehicle failed to accelerate over 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the power control module and valve body were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,500.

When I shift from 1 gear to the other there is a noise and a jerk. The rpm also goes up very high when I try to accelerate as if it is not able to shift gears. It won't shift until I stop accelerating. I took it to the dealer the 1st time and was told there is a recall for the issue and a flash was sent to the car's computer. I noticed the issue was not fixed almost immediately. I took back a 2nd time and told this is typical of this model and that there is nothing they can do. I started noticing this problem with less than 50,000 miles on the car. I can imagine the problems I would have later. Then to be told there is nothing that can be done is discouraging.
