The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck and the electronic throttle control warning light illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal but the vehicle failed to reduce in speed. The failure occurred on two occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.

2 Accelerator Pedal problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 10/14/2006

I own a 2005 Chrysler 300c, the gas pedal lever, which is made of a composite plastic, broke off while vehicle was moving at highway speed. Had there not been a shoulder to pull off on, this event may have caused a fatal accident. Vehicle was inoperable and is presently at dealers under warranty repair. This vehicle is a safety hazard to everyone on the road!!.

3 Accelerator Pedal problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 08/18/2006

The contact previously owned a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that her foot was on the brake pedal when the vehicle suddenly accelerated up to approximately 60 mph until she crashed into a fence. She observed that the accelerator pedal was extended to the floor by no effort of her own. A police report was taken. The contact had not experienced any problems with the vehicle such as sudden accelerator before that day. The dealer inspected the vehicle and told the contact that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. She returned the vehicle to the dealership shortly after the failure.
