Failure Date: 08/12/2016

Engine failure. No warning lights. Engine felt like it was running on less the 8 cylinders. I pulled into the first gas station to shut the car off and check all fluid levels (all fine). Started the motor, would not idle and died. Turned the key again and heard the motor completely clunk around out of sync. That was the end of my 2006 300c.

4 Engine Failure problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/24/2015

I was picking my son up from school, when I try to start the car. The car wouldn't kick over, the engine was shaking and running extremely rough once I did get it started, to make a long story short, a valve went through the engine block causing total engine failure. A new engine block was needed (jaspers) at the cost of over $6000. I contacted Chryslers cooperate office, and was told that there's no recall on the engine, and being that the warranty expired there was nothing they can do, I was just stuck with a useless car with a blown engine. I think that this is so pitiful for a multi billion dollar company to stick all of these Chrysler/Dodge owners with vehicles with known engine problems!. Just look on this site, or just google Chrysler 300/c & Dodge engine problems, you'll find 100's, if not 1000's of Chrysler/Dodge owners with the same type of engine failure. Shame on Chrysler!. I know that putting a recall on all of these engines would be a very costly thing to do, however it's the right thing to do!. . . . Shame on Chrysler!. I would never buy a Dodge/Chrysler vehicle again!. . . .

Failure Date: 07/17/2015

I'd like to make a formal complaint against Chrysler for complete engine failure, without warning, of my 2006 Chrysler 300c and respectfully request an investigation into the issue. On 7/17/15, I went into the store with my child, returned to my car and it would not start. The system read, "system ok. " smoke blew from the tailpipe. Finally it started, but shook violently. Grateful I was not on a highway alone or while driving. I could have been hit had this occurred in traffic. It has cost me $560 (three tows to repair shop #1, Chrysler dealership #2 and finally home and a charge from each repair shop to look at and assess the damages (not to mention the cost of the rental cars). End result, "piston #4 damaged, missing large piece of piston top, need to replace engine, estimated cost $8093. " the service tech said he'd never seen anything like it. . Read more...

8 Engine Failure problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 03/04/2013

Catastrophic engine failure upon vehicle start. Engine threw a connecting rod due to connecting rod bearing failure. This mechanical failure resulted in complete loss of mobility and power. Were this to happen in motion it would result in loss of propulsion, brakes and steering, presenting an immediate safety hazard to the driver of the vehicle and other drivers in the immediate vicinity. This defect has been acknowledged by both the dealer reps and various independent mechanics leading to the belief that this problem is widespread, and is becoming more apparent as this flawed mechanical component / design reaches the end of its life expectancy. Strongly request further investigation or correlation of similar incidents / complaints.

9 Engine Failure problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 05/09/2010

Last week on may 9th, 2010 the engine in my 2006 Chrysler 300c spontaneously died in the parking lot of an osh hardware store. I had the vehicle towed to a dealership and the mechanic confirmed that a piston and valve blew causing the engine to fail and the entire engine will need to be completely replaced at a cost of $8,500. 00. The mechanic also confirmed that there was no evidence of wear and tear that could have caused this and even mentioned that he noticed that the car had full synthetic oil that was clean and wasn't due for a change for another 2,500 miles per Chrysler's recommended schedule. I have all the receipts from my past oil changes and maintenance as well. I have contacted Chrysler regarding this defect and it appears they are not very shocked at all as if it was something they foreseen happening. I am also very concerned with how difficult it is to contact someone with some authority at the company to explain this issue and discuss a resolution. I have written their ceo and their chief of customer care and quality a letter and an e-mail about this over a week ago and neither has responded. What kind of chief of customer care and quality doesn't have any interest in talking to a real Chrysler customer regarding an issue of quality? please help me in creating awareness about this issue as I do believe it could have been much worse and extremely dangerous had this engine failure occurred while I was driving and not in the parking lot of a hardware store. Imagine the danger in driving on the highway at 65 miles per hour and spontaneously blowing a piston and the engine becoming completely non-functional and possibly blowing up entirely while moving at those speeds with other cars around you. Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. Updated 06/14/10. Updated 07/27/10.
